Low-dimensional magnetic structures coupled with a superconductor are promising platforms for realizing Majorana zero modes, which are considered as novel non-Abelian anyons with potential applications in topological quantum computing. Here, we report the observation of in-gap edge states and zero-bias conductance peaks (ZBCPs) in a two-dimensional (2D) magnetic-superconducting heterostructure consisting of a single-layer chromium diiodide (CrI2) on a niobium diselenide (NbSe2) superconductor. Single-layer CrI2 nanosheets, which hold antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground states according to our first-principles calculations, were epitaxially grown on the layered NbSe2 substrate. By using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy, we observed robust in-gap states spatially located at the edge of the nanosheets and defect-induced ZBCPs inside the CrI2 nanosheets. Magnetic-flux vortices induced by an external field exhibit broken threefold rotational symmetry of the pristine NbSe2 superconductor, implying the efficient modulation of the interfacial superconducting states by the epitaxial CrI2 layer. A phenomenological model was proposed and suggested the existence of chiral edge states in a 2D AFM-superconducting hybrid system with an even Chern number, providing a qualitatively plausible understanding for our experimental observation.

NiPSe3 is regarded as a bandwidth-controlled Mott insulator, distinct from the widely studied Mott insulating magnetic graphene MPSe3 (M = Mn and Fe) family. By employing high-pressure synchrotron X-ray diffraction, we observe two structural transitions as a function of pressure. With the help of first-principles calculations, we discover the antiferromagnetic (AFM) moment directions of NiPSe3 switch from out-of-plane to in-plane and the honeycomb layers slide relative to each other at the first structural transition. The in-plane AFM order persists until the second structural transition, whereupon the two-dimensional (2D) structure assumes a more three-dimensional (3D) character. A bandwidth-controlled Mott insulator-metal transition (IMT) occurs between the two structural transitions at 8.0 GPa, concomitant with the emergence of superconductivity with 4.8 K. The superconductivity in NiPSe3 emerging in the 2D monoclinic phase coexists with the in-plane AFM order and continues into the 3D trigonal phase. Our electronic structure calculations reveal that the Mott IMT and superconductivity in NiPSe3 are both closely related to the enhanced Se2- 4p and Ni2+ 3d electronic hybridizations under pressure. From these results, we construct the temperature-pressure electronic phase diagram of NiPSe3, revealing rich physics and many similarities with copper oxide and iron-based superconductors.

Short-range (SR) magnetic orders such as magnetic glass orders or fluctuations in a quantum system usually host exotic states or critical behaviors. As the long-range (LR) magnetic orders, SR magnetic orders can also break time-reversal symmetry and drive the non-zero Berry curvature leading to novel transport properties. In this work, we report that in EuZn$_2$As$_2$ compound, besides the LR A-type antiferromagnetic (AF) order, the SR magnetic order is observed in a wide temperature region. The magnetization measurements and electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements reveal the ferromagnetic (FM) correlations for this SR magnetic order which results in an obvious anomalous Hall effect above the AF transition. Moreover the ESR results reveal that this FM SR order coexists with LR AF order exhibiting anisotropic magnetic correlations below the AF transition. The interactions of LR and SR magnetism evolving with temperature and field can host non-zero spin charility and berry curvature leading the additional topological Hall contribution even in a centrosymmetric simple AF system. Our results indicate that EuZn$_2$As$_2$ is a fertile platform to investigate exotic magnetic and electronic states.

Kagome magnet usually hosts nontrivial electronic or magnetic states drawing great interests in condensed matter physics. In this paper, we report a systematic study on transport properties of kagome magnet TmMn$_6$Sn$_6$. The prominent topological Hall effect (THE) has been observed in a wide temperature region spanning over several magnetic phases and exhibits strong temperature and field dependence. This novel phenomenon due to non-zero spin chirality indicates possible appearance of nontrival magnetic states accompanying with strong fluctuations. The planar applied field drives planar Hall effect(PHE) and anistropic magnetoresisitivity(PAMR) exhibiting sharp disconnections in angular dependent planar resistivity violating the empirical law. By using an effective field, we identify a magnetic transition separating the PAMR into two groups belonging to various magnetic states. We extended the empirical formula to scale the field and temperature dependent planar magnetoresistivity and provide the understandings for planar transport behaviors with the crossover between various magnetic states. Our results shed lights on the novel transport effects in presence of multiple nontrivial magnetic states for the kagome lattice with complicated magnetic structures.

Charge and spin order is intimately related to superconductivity in copper oxide superconductors. To elucidate the competing orders in various nickel oxide compounds are crucial given the fact that superconductivity has been discovered in Nd$_{0.8}$Sr$_{0.2}$NiO$_2$ films. Herein, we report structural, electronic transport, magnetic, and thermodynamic characterizations on single crystals of La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ and La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_6$. La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ is metallic with mixed Ni$^{2+}$ and Ni$^{3+}$ valent states. Resistivity measurements yield two transition-like kinks at $\sim$110 and 153 K, respectively. The kink at 153 K is further revealed from magnetization and specific heat measurements, indicative of the formation of charge and spin order. La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_6$ single crystals obtained from topochemical reduction of La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ are insulating and show an anomaly at $\sim$176 K on magnetic susceptibility. The transition-like behaviors of La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ and La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_6$ are analogous to the charge and spin order observed in La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ and La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_8$, suggesting charge and spin order is a common feature in the ternary La-Ni-O system with mixed-valent states of nickel.

Exploration of exotic transport behavior for quantum materials is of great interest and importance for revealing exotic orders to bring new physics. In this Letter, we report the observation of exotic prominent planar Hall effect (PHE) and planar anisotropic magnetoresistivity (PAMR) in strange kagome metal KV$_3$Sb$_5$. The PHE and PAMR, which are driven by an in-plane magnetic field and display sharp difference from other Hall effects driven by an out-of-plane magnetic field or magnetization, exhibit exotic higher-order oscillations in sharp contrast to those following empirical rule only allowing twofold symmetrical oscillations. These higher-order oscillations exhibit strong field and temperature dependence and vanish around charge density wave (CDW) transition. The unique transport properties suggest a significant interplay of the lattice, magnetic and electronic structure in KV$_3$Sb$_5$. This interplay can couple the hidden anisotropy and transport electrons leading to the novel PHE and PAMR in contrast to other materials.
