Abstract: We present a measurement of the $B^{0} \rightarrow D^{*-} \ell^{+} νにゅー_{\ell}$ ($\ell=e,μみゅー$) branching ratio and of the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using signal decays accompanied by a fully reconstructed $B$ meson. The second $B$ meson in the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ event is not explicitly reconstructed. Using the diamond-frame method, we determine the $B$ meson four-momentum and thus the hadronic recoil. We extract the partial decay rates as functions of $w$ and perform a fit to the decay form-factor and the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using the BGL parameterization of the form factor and lattice QCD input from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations. We obtain $ηいーた_{EW}|V_{cb}|=(38.53\pm 1.15)\times 10^{-3}$, where $ηいーた_{EW}$ is an electroweak correction, and the error accounts for theoretical and experimental sources of uncertainty. △ Less

By fitting the measured partial branching fractions as functions of $q^{2}$, together with constraints on the nonperturbative hadronic contribution from lattice QCD calculations, the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $V_{ub}$, $(3.55 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.17) \times 10^{-3}$, is extracted. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. The results agree with previous measurements. This is the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ in $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays reported by Belle II. △ Less

Abstract: We report the measurement of the branching fraction of the $B^0 \to K_S^0 πぱい^0 γがんま$ decay in $e^+ e^- \to Υうぷしろん(4S) \to B \overline{B}$ data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The signal yield is measured to be $121\pm 29\,\hbox{(stat.)}$, leading to the branching fraction… ▽ More We report the measurement of the branching fraction of the $B^0 \to K_S^0 πぱい^0 γがんま$ decay in $e^+ e^- \to Υうぷしろん(4S) \to B \overline{B}$ data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We determine the partial branching fractions in three bins of the squared momentum transfer to the leptonic system using fits to the distribution of the square of the missing mass. The partial branching fractions are summed to determine $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to πぱい^- e^+ νにゅー_e)$ = (1.43 $\pm$ 0.27(stat) $\pm$ 0.07(syst)) $\times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to πぱい^0 e^+ νにゅー_e)$ = (8.33 $\pm$ 1.67(stat) $\pm$ 0.55(syst)) $\times 10^{-5}$. We extract a first Belle II measurement of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{\mathrm{ub}}|$, with $|V_{\mathrm{ub}}|$ = (3.88 $\pm$ 0.45) $\times 10^{-3}$. △ Less

We reconstruct $K^{\ast}(892)$ candidates in the $K^+πぱい^-$, $K_{S}^{0}πぱい^+$, and $K^+πぱい^0$ final states. The signal yields with statistical uncertainties are $22\pm 6$, $18 \pm 6$, and $38 \pm 9$ for the decays $B \to K^{\ast}(892)μみゅー^+μみゅー^-$, $B \to K^{\ast}(892)e^+e^-$, and $B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-$, respectively. We measure the branching fractions of these decays for the entire range of the dilepton mass, excluding the very low mass region to suppress the $B \to K^{\ast}(892)γがんま(\to e^+e^-)$ background and regions compatible with decays of charmonium resonances, to be \begin{equation} {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)μみゅー^+μみゅー^-) = (1.19 \pm 0.31 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)e^+e^-) = (1.42 \pm 0.48 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-6}, {\cal B}(B \to K^{\ast}(892)\ell^+\ell^-) = (1.25 \pm 0.30 ^{+0.08}_{-0.07}) \times 10^{-6}, \end{equation} where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We obtain $95\%$ CL upper limits on the branching fractions with $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to ρろー^- \ell^+ νにゅー_\ell) < 3.37 \times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^0 \ell^+ νにゅー_\ell) < 19.7 \times 10^{-5}$. We also obtain an updated branching fraction for the $B^0 \to πぱい^- \ell^+ νにゅー_\ell$ decay, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to πぱい^- \ell^+ νにゅー_\ell)$ = (1.47 $\pm$ 0.29(stat) $\pm$ 0.05(syst)) $\times 10^{-4}$, based on the sum of the partial branching fractions in three bins of the squared momentum transfer to the leptonic system. △ Less

We report the branching fractions of these decays: $$\mathcal{B} [B^{0} \to K^{*0}[K^{+}πぱい^{-}]γがんま] = (4.5 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{-5}, $$ $$\mathcal{B} [B^{0} \to K^{*0}[K^0_{\rm S}πぱい^{0}]γがんま] = (4.4 \pm 0.9 \pm 0.6) \times 10^{-5},$$ $$\mathcal{B} [B^{+} \to K^{*+}[K^{+}πぱい^{0}]γがんま] = (5.0 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.4)\times 10^{-5},\text{ and}$$ $$\mathcal{B} [B^{+} \to K^{*+}[K^0_{\rm S}πぱい^{+}]γがんま] = (5.4 \pm 0.6 \pm 0.4) \times 10^{-5},$$ where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression variable, dipion masses, and angular distributions of the resulting samples, to determine a signal yield of $104\pm16$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = [20.6 \pm 3.2(\rm stat) \pm 4.0(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, and $f_L(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = 0.936 ^{+0.049}_{-0.041}(\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$. This first Belle II $B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ angular analysis yields results compatible with previous determinations, and indicates Belle II performance superior to early Belle results. △ Less

We use a sample of collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔでるたE$ and $M_{\rm bc}$ distributions of the resulting samples are fit to determine signal yields of approximately 690, 840, and 380 decays for the channels $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, $B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+$, and $B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0$, respectively. These yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = [35.8 \pm 1.6(\rm stat) \pm 1.4 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = [67.0 \pm 3.3 (\rm stat)\pm 2.3 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = [38.1 \pm 3.5 (\rm stat)\pm 3.9 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = -0.103 \pm 0.042(\rm stat) \pm 0.020 (\rm syst)$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = -0.010 \pm 0.050 (\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = 0.207 \pm 0.088 (\rm stat)\pm 0.011(\rm syst)$. Results are consistent with previous measurements and demonstrate detector performance comparable with the best Belle results. △ Less

The $P$-wave states are reconstructed in transitions to the $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ with the emission of an $ωおめが$ meson. We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 πぱい^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0πぱい^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 πぱい^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0πぱい^0$ decays reported by Belle II. A novel measurement method is employed, which exploits topological properties of the $B^{+}\to K^{+}νにゅー\barνにゅー$ decay that differ from both generic bottom-meson decays and light-quark pair production. This inclusive tagging approach offers a higher signal efficiency compared to previous searches. No significant signal is observed. An upper limit on the branching fraction of $B^{+}\to K^{+}νにゅー\barνにゅー$ of $4.1 \times 10^{-5}$ is set at the 90% confidence level. △ Less

Once branching fractions for two-body decays $B_s \to ηいーたηいーた, ηいーたηいーた^{\prime}, ηいーた^{\prime}ηいーた^{\prime} $ are measured, and the theoretical uncertainties are reduced, it would be possible to extract {\it CP} violating parameters from the data using the formalism based on SU(3)/U(3) symmetry. Here, the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and related to slow pion reconstruction, respectively. The systematic uncertainties are limited by the statistics of auxiliary measurements and will improve in the future. Abstract: The enhancement of charged-particle pairs with large pseudorapidity difference and small azimuthal angle difference, often referred to as the ``ridge signal'', is a phenomenon widely observed in high multiplicity proton-proton, proton-ion and deutron-ion collisions, which is not yet fully understood. In heavy-ion collisions, the hydrodynamic expansion of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is one of the possib… ▽ More The enhancement of charged-particle pairs with large pseudorapidity difference and small azimuthal angle difference, often referred to as the ``ridge signal'', is a phenomenon widely observed in high multiplicity proton-proton, proton-ion and deutron-ion collisions, which is not yet fully understood. In heavy-ion collisions, the hydrodynamic expansion of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is one of the possible explanations of the origin of the ridge signal. Measurements in the $e^+e^-$ collision system, without the complexities introduced by hadron structure in the initial state, can serve as a complementary probe to examine the formation of a ridge signal. The first measurement of two-particle angular correlation functions in high multiplicity $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=10.52$ GeV is reported. The hadronic $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected by the Belle detector at KEKB are used in this study. Two-particle angular correlation functions are measured over the full azimuth and large pseudorapidity intervals which are defined by either the electron beam axis or the event thrust as a function of charged particle multiplicity. The measurement in the event thrust analysis, with mostly outgoing quark pairs determining the reference axis, is sensitive to the region of additional soft gluon emissions. No significant ridge signal is observed with either coordinates analyses. Near side jet correlations appear to be absent in the thrust axis analysis. The measurements are compared to predictions from various event generators and expected to provide new constraints to the phenomenological models in the low energy regime. △ Less

We use simulation to optimize our event selection criteria and to train the flavor tagging algorithm. We determine the tagging efficiency and the fraction of wrongly identified tag-side $B$~candidates from a measurement of the time-integrated $B^0-\overline{B}^0$ mixing probability. The total effective efficiency is measured to be $\varepsilon_{\rm eff} = \big(33.8 \pm 3.6(\text{stat}) \pm 1.6(\text{sys})\big)\%$, which is in good agreement with the predictions from simulation and comparable with the best one obtained by the Belle experiment. The results show a good understanding of the detector performance and offer a basis for future calibrations. △ Less

Signal yields of approximately 80, 15, 20, 30, 90, and 160 decays are reconstructed for the channels $B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-$, $B^0 \to πぱい^+πぱい^-$, $B^+ \to K^0_S(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)πぱい^+$, $B^+ \to K^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま)$, $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, and $B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+$, respectively. Yields and background contaminations are compatible with those expected from simulation and comparable with those obtained by the Belle experiment. The results show a good understanding of the detector performance and offer a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach. △ Less

Abstract: We report the result for a search for the leptonic decay of $B^+ \to μみゅー^+ \, νにゅー_μみゅー$ using the full Belle data set of 711 fb${}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance. In the Standard Model leptonic $B$-meson decays are helicity and CKM suppressed. To maximize sensitivity an inclusive tagging approach is used to reconstruct the second $B$ meson produced in the collision. The direction… ▽ More We report the result for a search for the leptonic decay of $B^+ \to μみゅー^+ \, νにゅー_μみゅー$ using the full Belle data set of 711 fb${}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance. In the Standard Model leptonic $B$-meson decays are helicity and CKM suppressed. To maximize sensitivity an inclusive tagging approach is used to reconstruct the second $B$ meson produced in the collision. The directional information from this second $B$ meson is used to boost the observed $μみゅー$ into the signal $B$ meson rest-frame, in which the $μみゅー$ has a monochromatic momentum spectrum. Though its momentum is smeared by the experimental resolution, this technique improves the analysis sensitivity considerably. Analyzing the $μみゅー$ momentum spectrum in this frame we find $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to μみゅー^+ \, νにゅー_μみゅー) = \left( 5.3 \pm 2.0 \pm 0.9 \right) \times 10^{-7}$ with a one-sided significance of 2.8 standard deviations over the background-only hypothesis. This translates to a frequentist upper limit of $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to μみゅー^+ \, νにゅー_μみゅー) < 8.6 \times 10^{-7}$ at 90% CL. The experimental spectrum is then used to search for a massive sterile neutrino, $B^+ \to μみゅー^+ \, N$, but no evidence is observed for a sterile neutrino with a mass in a range of 0 - 1.5 GeV. The determined $B^+ \to μみゅー^+ \, νにゅー_μみゅー$ branching fraction limit is further used to constrain the mass and coupling space of the type II and type III two-Higgs-doublet models. △ Less

The analysis utilizes a method where the tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode, and the signal-side $τたう$ is reconstructed in a purely leptonic decay. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{\ast})= 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$ and $1.1$ standard deviations, respectively, while their combination agrees with the Standard Model predictions within $1.2$ standard deviations. △ Less
