We report a search for a heavy neutral lepton (HNL) that mixes predominantly with $ν_τ$. The search utilizes data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The data sample was collected at and just below the center-of-mass energies of the $Υ(4S)$ and $Υ(5S)$ resonances and has an integrated luminosity of $915~\textrm{fb}^{-1}$, corresponding to $(836\pm 12)\times 10^6$ $e^+e^\toτ^+τ^-$ events. We search for production of the HNL (denoted $N$) in the decay $τ^-\to π^- N$ followed by its decay via $N \to μ^+μ^- ν_τ$. The search focuses on the parameter-space region in which the HNL is long lived, so that the $μ^+μ^-$ originate from a common vertex that is significantly displaced from the collision point of the KEKB beams. Consistent with the expected background yield, one event is observed in the data sample after application of all the event-selection criteria. We report limits on the mixing parameter of the HNL with the $τ$ neutrino as a function of the HNL mass.

No significant signals are observed in the $Ξ^0\ell^+\ell^-$ invariant-mass distributions. Taking the decay $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+$ as the normalization mode, we report 90\% credibility upper limits on the branching fraction ratios ${\cal{B}} (Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 e^+ e^-) / {\cal{B}}(Ξ_c^0\to Ξ^-π^+) < 6.7 \times 10^{-3}$ and ${\cal{B}} (Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 μ^+ μ^-) / {\cal{B}}(Ξ_c^0\to Ξ^-π^+) < 4.3 \times 10^{-3}$ based on the phase-space assumption for signal decays. The 90\% credibility upper limits on the absolute branching fractions of ${\cal{B}} (Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 e^+ e^-)$ and ${\cal{B}} (Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^0 μ^+ μ^-)$ are found to be $9.9 \times 10^{-5}$ and $6.5 \times 10^{-5}$, respectively.

We perform a model-independent global fit to all $b \to s \ell \ell$ data in the light of recent measurements of the lepton flavour universality violating (LFUV) observables $R_{K_S^0}$ and $R_{K^{*+}}$ as well as the updated measurements of observables in $B_s \to φμ^+ μ^-$ decay, by the LHCb collaboration. We obtain new physics (NP) solutions to the current anomalies in the data, assuming NP in the muon sector only. We find that the 1D NP scenarios $C_9^{\rm NP} <0 $ and $C_{9}^{\rm NP}=-C_{10}^{\rm NP}$ continue to be the most favoured ones. However, the significance of the then favoured scenario $C_{9}^{\rm NP}=-C'_{9}$ has reduced and the updated data now marginally prefers $C_{10}^{\rm NP}$ scenario over $C_{9}^{\rm NP}=-C'_{9}$. The 2D scenarios $(C_9^{\rm NP}, C_{10}^{\prime} )$, $(C_9^{\rm NP}, C_{9}^{\prime} )$ and $(C_9^{\rm NP}, C_{10}^{\rm NP} )$, continue to be favoured by the data in the listed order. We also analyse generic TeV scale $Z'$ models which can generate the favored 1D scenarios, $C_9^{\rm NP} $ and $C_9^{\rm NP} = -C_{10}^{\rm NP}$ along with the 2D NP scenarios $(C_9^{\rm NP}, C_{9}^{\prime} )$ and $(C_9^{\rm NP}, C_{10}^{\rm NP} )$. Using the additional constraints from $B_s -\bar{B_s}$ mixing and neutrino trident data, we find that all four models provide an equally good fit to the data. Further, we consider a model with a 25 MeV $Z'$ that couples to muons and has a $q^2$ dependent $b - s$ coupling. We also study the implications of the current data on the LFUV observable $R_φ$, $Q_{4,5}$ along with $R_{K^{(*)}}$ in the high $q^2$. We find that a precise measurements of these observables can provide a good discrimination between a few favored model-independent solutions, and have a potential to disentangle different heavy and light $Z'$ scenarios considered in this work.

In this work, we study the impact of $b \to s \ell \ell$, $B_s - \bar{B_s}$ mixing and neutrino trident measurements on observables in decays induced by $c \to u $ transition in the context of a non-universal $Z'$ model which generates $C^{\rm NP}_{9} <0$ and $C^{\rm NP}_9 = - \,C^{\rm NP}_{10} $ new physics scenarios at the tree level. We inspect the effects on $D^0 \to π^0 ν\barν$, $D^+ \to π^+ ν\barν$ and $B_c \to B^+ ν\barν $ decays which are induced by the quark level transition $c \to u ν\barν$. The fact that the branching ratios of these decays are negligible in the standard model (SM) and the long distance effects are relatively smaller in comparison to their charged dileptons counterparts, they are considered to provide genuine null-tests of SM. Therefore the observation of these modes at the level of current as well as planned experimental sensitivities would imply unambiguous signature of new physics. Using the constraints on $Z'$ couplings coming from a combined fit to $b \to s \ell \ell$, $ΔM_s$ and neutrino trident data, we find that any meaningful enhancement over the SM value is ruled out in the considered framework. The same is true for $D - \bar{D}$ mixing observable $ΔM_D$ along with $D^0 \to μ^+ μ^-$ and $D^+ \to π^+ μ^+ μ^-$ decay modes which are induced through $c \to u μ^+ μ^-$ transition.

Electromagnetic crimping is a high-velocity joining method to join highly conductive workpieces where a pulsed magnetic field is applied without any working medium or mechanical contact to deform the workpiece. This work explores tube-to-tube joining of Copper outer tube and Stainless steel threaded inner tube using electromagnetic crimping. A non-coupled simulation model is developed for the finite element analysis. ANSYS Maxwell package is used to obtain the magnetic field intensity, which is later converted to pressure using an analytical equation, and this pressure is applied to the two-tube working domain in ANSYS Explicit Dynamics. Numerical simulations are done for different combinations of discharge energies and pitches of the thread to analyse deformation, stress and strain. The converged finite element results are validated using experimental data. The amount of deformation is found to be proportional to discharge energy and the pitch of the thread used. An empirical relation is developed for the deformation as a function of discharge energy and pitch. The relation is able to predict the deformation for other discharge energies, which is later verified with ANSYS simulations.

Section 1 reviews experimental results of some recent light-flavored particle production data from ALICE collaboration. Other sections are mostly theoretical in nature.
Very strong but transient magnetic field created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions could have important observational consequences. This has generated a lot of theoretical activity in the last decade. Sections 2, 7, 9, 10 and 11 deal with the effects of the magnetic field on the properties of the QCD matter. There are several unanswered questions about the QCD phase diagram. Sections 3, 11 and 18 discuss various aspects of the QCD phase diagram and phase transitions.
Recent years have witnessed interesting developments in foundational aspects of hydrodynamics and their application to heavy-ion collisions. Sections 12, 15, 16 and 17 of this article probe some aspects of this exciting field.
Transport coefficients together with their temperature- and density-dependence, are essential inputs in hydrodynamical calculations. Sections 5, 8 and 14 deal with calculation/estimation of various transport coefficients (shear and bulk viscosity, thermal conductivity, relaxation times, etc.) of quark matter and hadronic matter.
Sections 4, 6 and 13 deals with interesting new developments in the field. Section 4 discusses color dipole gluon distribution function at small transverse momentum in the form of a series of Bells polynomials. Section 6 discusses the properties of Higgs boson in the quark gluon plasma using Higgs-quark interaction. Section 13 discusses modification of coalescence model to incorporate viscous corrections and application of this model.

After inclusion of these measurements, the global tension in $R_D - R_{D^*}$ has reduced from $4.1σ$ to $3.1σ$ which is still significant. The measurements of these ratios indicate towards the violation of lepton flavor universality in $b\rightarrow c\,l\,\barν$ decay. Assuming new physics in $b\rightarrow c\,τ\,\barν$ transition, we have done a global fit to all available data in this sector to identify the allowed new physics solutions. We find that there are seven allowed new physics solutions which can account for all measurements in $b\rightarrow c\,τ\,\barν$ transition. We show that a simultaneous measurement of the $τ$ polarization fraction and forward-backward asymmetry in $B\rightarrow D\,τ\,\barν$, the zero crossing point of forward backward asymmetry in $B\rightarrow D^*τ\barν$ and the branching ratio of $B_c\rightarrow τ\,\barν$ decay can distinguish these seven new physics solutions if they can be measured with a required precision.

We constrain the couplings of these $Z'$ models by performing a global fit to correlated $b \to s \ell \ell$ and $b \to d \ell \ell $ processes, and calculate their possible implications for $B_s \to \bar{K}^*\ell \ell$ observables. For real new physics (NP) couplings, the 1-$σ$ favored parameters allow the corresponding LFUV ratio $R_{K^*}^{(s)}$ in $B_s \to \bar{K}^*\ell \ell$ to range between 0.8 -- 1.2 at low $q^2$. Complex NP couplings improve the best fit only marginally, however they allow a significant enhancement of the branching ratio, while increasing the range of $R_{K^*}^{(s)}$ at low $q^2$ to 0.8 -- 1.8. We find that NP could cause zero-crossing in the forward-backward asymmetry $A_{FB}$ to shift towards lower $q^2$ values, and enhancement in the magnitude of integrated $A_{FB}$. The $CP$ asymmetry $A_{CP}$ may be suppressed and even change sign. The simultaneous measurements of integrated $R_{K^*}^{(s)}$ and $A_{CP}$ values to 0.1 and 1% respectively, would help in constraining the effective NP Wilson coefficient $C_9$ in $ b \to d μμ$ interactions.

We analyze all the scenarios where the new physics contributes to a pair of these operators at a time. We perform a global fit to all relevant data in the $b \to s$ sector to estimate the corresponding new Wilson coefficients, $C_9^{\rm NP}, C_{10}^{\rm NP}, C_9^\prime, C_{10}^\prime$. In the light of the new data on $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ presented in Moriond 2019, we find that the scenarios with new physics contributions to the ($C_9^{\rm NP}$, $C_9^\prime$) or ($C_9^{\rm NP}$, $C_{10}^\prime$) pair remain the most favored ones. On the other hand, though the competing scenario ($C_9^{\rm NP}$, $C_{10}^{\rm NP}$) remains attractive, its advantage above the SM reduces significantly due to the tension that emerges between the $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ measurements with the new data. The movement of the $R_K$ measurement towards unity would also result in the re-emergence of the one-parameter scenario $C_9^{\rm NP} = -C_9^\prime$.

One of the exciting results in flavor physics in recent times is the $R_D$/$R_{D^*}$ puzzle. The measurements of these flavor ratios performed by the B-factory experiments, BaBar and Belle, and the LHCb experiment are about $4σ$ away from the Standard Model expectation. These measurements indicate that the mechanism of $b\rightarrow cτ\barν$ decay is not identical to that of $b\rightarrow c(μ/e)\barν$. This charge lepton universality violation is particularly intriguing because these decays occur at tree level in the Standard Model. In particular, we expect a moderately large new physics contribution to $b\rightarrow cτ\barν$. The different types of new physics amplitudes, which can explain the $R_D$/$R_{D^*}$ puzzle, have been identified previously. In this letter, we show that the polarization fractions of $τ$ and $D^*$ and the angular asymmetries $A_{FB}$ and $A_{LT}$ in $B\rightarrow D^*τ\barν$ decay have the capability to uniquely identify the Lorentz structure of the new physics. A measurement of these four observables will lead to such an identification.

Recent measurements of $R_{D^*}$ have reduced tension with the Standard Model prediction. Taking all the present data into account, we obtain the values of the Wilson coefficients of each new physics four-fermion operator of a given Lorentz structure. We find that the combined data rule out most of the solutions based on scalar/pseudoscalar operators. By studying the inter-relations between different solutions, we find that there are only four allowed solutions, which are based on operators with $(V-A)$, linear combination of $(V-A)$ and $(V+A)$, tensor and linear combination of scalar/pseudoscalar and tensor structure. We demonstrate that the need for new physics is driven by those measurement of $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ where the $τ$ lepton is not studied. Further, we show that new physics only in $b\rightarrow c\,μ\,\barν$ is not compatible with the full set of observables in the decays $B\rightarrow Dl\barν$ and $B\rightarrow D^*l\barν$.

We perform a combined model-independent and model-dependent analysis in order to deduce properties of this NP. Like others, we find that the NP must obey one of two scenarios: (I) $C_9^{μμ}({\rm NP}) < 0$ or (II) $C_9^{μμ}({\rm NP}) = - C_{10}^{μμ}({\rm NP}) < 0$. A third scenario, (III) $C_9^{μμ}({\rm NP}) = - C_{9}^{\prime μμ}({\rm NP})$, is rejected largely because it predicts $R_K = 1$, in disagreement with experiment. The simplest NP models involve the tree-level exchange of a leptoquark (LQ) or a $Z'$ boson. We show that scenario (II) can arise in LQ or $Z'$ models, but scenario (I) is only possible with a $Z'$. Fits to $Z'$ models must take into account the additional constraints from $B^0_s$-${\bar B}^0_s$ mixing and neutrino trident production. Although the LQs must be heavy, O(TeV), we find that the $Z'$ can be light, e.g., $M_{Z'} = 10$ GeV or 200 MeV.

These are, standard model like vector boson (VB), $SU(2)_L$-singlet vector leptoquark ($U_1$), $SU(2)_L$-triplet scalar leptoquark ($S_3$) and $SU(2)_L$ triplet vector leptoquark ($U_3$) models. We assume a coupling only to the third generation in the weak basis, so that the $b \to s μ^+ μ^-$ transition is generated only via mixing effects. Preforming a global fit to all relevant data, we show that the vector boson model violates the current upper bound on ${Br}(τ\to 3μ)$ and hence is inconsistent with the present data. Further, we show that within this framework, the $U_1$ leptoquark model cannot simultaneously accommodate $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ measurements. We emphasize that this conclusion is independent of the additional constraints coming from renormaliztion group running effects and high-$p_T$ searches. In addition, we show that the $S_3$ and $U_3$ models are highly disfavored by the constraints coming from $b\to s ν\bar ν$ data. Finally, we find a that hypothesis of two LQ particles is also challenged by $b\to s \bar νν$ data.

Abstract:
At present, there are several measurements of $B$ decays that exhibit discrepancies with the predictions of the SM, and suggest the presence of new physics (NP) in $b \to s μ^+ μ^-$ transitions. Many NP models have been proposed as explanations. These involve the tree-level exchange of a leptoquark (LQ) or a flavor-changing $Z'$ boson. In this paper we examine whether it is possible to distinguish the various models via CP-violating effects in $B \to K^{(*)} μ^+ μ^-$. Using fits to the data, we find the following results. Of all possible LQ models, only three can explain the data, and these are all equivalent as far as $b \to s μ^+ μ^-$ processes are concerned. In this single LQ model, the weak phase of the coupling can be large, leading to some sizeable CP asymmetries in $B \to K^{(*)} μ^+ μ^-$. There is a spectrum of $Z'$ models; the key parameter is $g_L^{μμ}$, which describes the strength of the $Z'$ coupling to $μ^+μ^-$. If $g_L^{μμ}$ is small (large), the constraints from $B^0_s$-${\bar B}^0_s$ mixing are stringent (weak), leading to a small (large) value of the NP weak phase, and corresponding small (large) CP asymmetries. We therefore find that the measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in $B \to K^{(*)} μ^+ μ^-$ can indeed distinguish among NP $b \to s μ^+ μ^-$ models

Various different new physics operators and their coupling strengths, which provide a good fit to $R_D$, $R_{D^*}$ and $q^2$ spectra, were identfied previously. In this work, we try to find angular observables in $\bar{B} \to D^* τ\barν$ which enable us to distinguish between these new physics operators. We find that the $D^*$ polarization fraction $f_L(q^2)$ is a good discriminant of scalar and tensor new physics operators. The change in $\langle f_L(q^2) \rangle$, induced by scalar and tensor operators, is about three times larger than the expected uncertainty in the upcoming Belle measurement.

The VuQ model involves the addition of a vector isosinglet up-type quark to the standard model. In this model the full CKM quark mixing matrix is 4 X 3. Using present flavor-physics data, we perform a fit to this full CKM matrix, looking for signals of new physics (NP). We find that the VuQ model is very strongly constrained. There are no hints of NP in the CKM matrix, and any VuQ contributions to loop-level flavor-changing b -> s, b -> d and s -> d transitions are very small. There can be significant enhancements of the branching ratios of the flavor-changing decays t -> u Z and t -> c Z, but these are still below present detection levels.
