NNLO QCD corrections to event shapes at the LHC
Abstract: In this work we perform the first ever calculation of jet event shapes at hadron colliders at next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) in QCD. The inclusion of higher order corrections removes the shape difference observed between data and next-to-leading order predictions. The theory uncertainty at NNLO is comparable to, or slightly larger than, existing measurements. Except for narrow kinematical ra… ▽ More

Limits on new coloured fermions using precision jet data from the Large Hadron Collider
Abstract: This work presents an interpretation of high precision jet data from the ATLAS experiment in terms of exclusion limits for new coloured matter. To this end, the effect of a new coloured fermion with a mass $m_X$ on the solution of the renormalization group equation QCD is studied. Theoretical predictions for the transverse energy-energy correlation function and its asymmetry are obtained with such… ▽ More

Determination of the $b$-quark mass $m_b$ from the angular screening effects in the ATLAS $b$-jet shape data
Abstract: The dependence of jet shapes in $t\bar{t}$ events on the $b$-quark mass and the strong coupling is investigated. To this end, the Pythia Monte Carlo generator is used to produce samples of $t\bar{t}$ events in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7 \ \mathrm{TeV}$, performing a scan over the values for the shower QCD scale $
Λ _s$ and the $b$-quark mass $m_b$. The obtained jet shapes are compared with rec… ▽ MoreSubmitted 5 November, 2014; v1 submitted 30 July, 2014; originally announced July 2014.

Transverse Energy-Energy Correlations in Next-to-Leading Order in $
α _s$ at the LHCAbstract: We compute the transverse energy-energy correlation (EEC) and its asymmetry (AEEC) in next-to-leading order (NLO) in $
α _s$ in proton-proton collisions at the LHC with the center-of-mass energy $E_{\rm c.m.}=7$ TeV. We show that the transverse EEC and the AEEC distributions are insensitive to the QCD factorization- and the renormalization-scales, structure functions of the proton, and for a judicio… ▽ MoreSubmitted 28 November, 2012; v1 submitted 8 May, 2012; originally announced May 2012.

Improved sensitivity to charged Higgs searches in Top quark decays $t \to bH^+ \to b (
τ ^+ν _τ )$ at the LHC using $τ $ polarisation and multivariate tecnniquesAbstract: We present an analysis with improved sensitivity to the light charged Higgs ($m_{H^+} < m_t-m_b$) searches in the top quark decays $t \to b H^+ \to b (
τ ^+ν _τ ) + ~{\rm c.c.}$ in the $t\bar{t}$ and single $t/\bar{t}$ production processes at the LHC. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), one anticipates the branching ratio ${\cal B} (H^+ \toτ ^+ν _τ )\simeq 1$ over almost the entire allo… ▽ MoreSubmitted 29 August, 2011; v1 submitted 9 March, 2011; originally announced March 2011.
