The Spin Physics Detector collaboration proposes to install a universal detector in the second interaction point of the NICA collider under construction (JINR, Dubna) to study the spin structure of the proton and deuteron and other spin-related phenomena using a unique possibility to operate with polarized proton and deuteron beams at a collision energy up to 27 GeV and a luminosity up to $10^{32}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. As the main goal, the experiment aims to provide access to the gluon TMD PDFs in the proton and deuteron, as well as the gluon transversity distribution and tensor PDFs in the deuteron, via the measurement of specific single and double spin asymmetries using different complementary probes such as charmonia, open charm, and prompt photon production processes. Other polarized and unpolarized physics is possible, especially at the first stage of NICA operation with reduced luminosity and collision energy of the proton and ion beams. This document is dedicated exclusively to technical issues of the SPD setup construction.

We present a global analysis of the trans-helicity worm-gear distribution function, $g_{1T}^\perp$, by fitting the longitudinal-transverse double spin asymmetry data of the semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering. The analysis is performed within the framework of transverse momentum dependent factorization and evolution. It is found that the $u$-quark favors a positive distribution and the $d$-quark favors a negative distribution, which is consistent with previous model calculations and phenomenological extractions. Based on the fit to existing world data, we also study the impact of the proposed electron-ion collider in China and conclude that it can significantly improve the precision of the worm-gear distribution function and hence enhance our understanding of nucleon spin structures.

The STCF will produce a data sample about a factor of 100 larger than that by the present $τ$-Charm factory -- the BEPCII, providing a unique platform for exploring the asymmetry of matter-antimatter (charge-parity violation), in-depth studies of the internal structure of hadrons and the nature of non-perturbative strong interactions, as well as searching for exotic hadrons and physics beyond the Standard Model. The STCF project in China is under development with an extensive R\&D program. This document presents the physics opportunities at the STCF, describes conceptual designs of the STCF detector system, and discusses future plans for detector R\&D and physics case studies.

We find bound state poles in both $Σ_c \bar{D}$ and $Σ_c \bar{D}^*$ channels, which are possibly related to the $P_c(4312)$ and $P_c(4440) / P_c(4457)$ pentaquarks observed in experiments. The binding energy is $6(2)(2)$MeV for $Σ_c \bar{D}$ and $7(3)(1)$MeV for $Σ_c \bar{D}^*$, where the first error is the statistical error and the second is the systematic error due to the lattice artifacts.

Transverse momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) provide three-dimensional imaging of the nucleon in the momentum space. With its fundamental importance in understanding the spin structure of the nucleon, the precise measurement of TMDs is considered as one of the main physics topics of the proposed Electron-Ion Collider in China (EicC). In this paper, we investigate the impact of future semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) data from EicC on the extraction of TMDs. Taking the Sivers function as an example, we revisited the world SIDIS data, which serves as the input for the simulated EicC data. By performing a combined analysis of the world data and the EicC simulated data, we quantitatively demonstrate that the Sivers functions can be precisely determined for various quark flavors, especially for sea quarks, in the region, $x>0.005$, directly covered by the EicC.

It is well know that the precise measurement of $H\toγγ$ can generate two degenerate parameter spaces of $Hγγ$ anomalous coupling. We propose to utilize the exclusive Higgs rare decays $H\toΥ(ns)+γ$ to break above mentioned degeneracy and further to constrain the $Hγγ$ anomalous coupling at the HL-LHC. We demonstrate that the branching ratios of $H\toΥ(ns)+γ$ can be significantly enhanced in the non-SM-like parameter space from $H\toγγ$ measurement, due to the destructive interference between the direct and indirect production of $Υ(ns)$ in the SM. By applying the NRQCD factorization formalism, we calculate the partial decay widths of $H\toΥ(ns)+γ$ at the NLO accuracy of $α_s$. We show that it is hopeful to break such degenerate parameter space at the HL-LHC if we can further highly suppress the background and enhance the signal efficiency compared to the ATLAS preliminary simulation.

The single hadron cross sections and multiplicities were extracted as a function of the DIS variables $x$ and $Q^2$, as well as the semi-inclusive variables $z$, which corresponds to the momentum fraction the detected hadron carries relative to the struck parton and $P_T$, which corresponds to the transverse momentum of the detected hadron relative to the virtual photon. The expected statistical precision of such measurements is extrapolated to accumulated luminosities of 10 fb$^{-1}$ and potential systematic uncertainties are approximated given the deviations between true and reconstructed yields.

We performed feasibility studies for various single transverse spin measurements that are related to the Sivers effect, transversity and the tensor charge, and the Collins fragmentation function. The processes studied include semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) where single hadrons (pions and kaons) were detected in addition to the scattered DIS lepton. The data were obtained in {\sc pythia}6 and {\sc geant}4 simulated e+p collisions at 18 GeV on 275 GeV, 18 on 100, 10 on 100, and 5 on 41 that use the ECCE detector configuration. Typical DIS kinematics were selected, most notably $Q^2 > 1 $ GeV$^2$, and cover the $x$ range from $10^{-4}$ to $1$. The single spin asymmetries were extracted as a function of $x$ and $Q^2$, as well as the semi-inclusive variables $z$, and $P_T$. They are obtained in azimuthal moments in combinations of the azimuthal angles of the hadron transverse momentum and transverse spin of the nucleon relative to the lepton scattering plane. The initially unpolarized MonteCarlo was re-weighted in the true kinematic variables, hadron types and parton flavors based on global fits of fixed target SIDIS experiments and $e^+e^-$ annihilation data. The expected statistical precision of such measurements is extrapolated to 10 fb$^{-1}$ and potential systematic uncertainties are approximated given the deviations between true and reconstructed yields. The impact on the knowledge of the Sivers functions, transversity and tensor charges, and the Collins function has then been evaluated in the same phenomenological extractions as in the Yellow Report. The impact is found to be comparable to that obtained with the parameterized Yellow Report detector and shows that the ECCE detector configuration can fulfill the physics goals on these quantities.

We present a lattice QCD study of hidden-charm hexaquarks with quark content $usc\bar{d}\bar{s}\bar{c}$ based on four ensembles of gauge configurations generated by CLQCD Collaboration with pion mass in the range of 220-300MeV. Four operators with quantum numbers $0^{++}, 0^{-+}, 1^{++}$ and $1^{--}$ respectively are constructed to interpolate the hexaquarks. After validating the spectrum and the dispersion relation for ordinary hadrons, we calculate the masses of the hexaquarks and extrapolate the results to the physical pion mass and the continuum limit. We find that the masses of the four hexaquarks are all below the $Ξ_c \bar Ξ_c$ threshold, while the $0^{-+}$ hexaquark lies around the $η_c K^+K^-$ threshold. These results will be helpful for experimental searches in future and for a deep understanding of the nature of multiquark states.

The Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) is a cutting-edge accelerator facility that will study the nature of the "glue" that binds the building blocks of the visible matter in the universe. The proposed experiment will be realized at Brookhaven National Laboratory in approximately 10 years from now, with detector design and R&D currently ongoing. Notably, EIC is one of the first large-scale facilities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) already starting from the design and R&D phases. The EIC Comprehensive Chromodynamics Experiment (ECCE) is a consortium that proposed a detector design based on a 1.5T solenoid. The EIC detector proposal review concluded that the ECCE design will serve as the reference design for an EIC detector. Herein we describe a comprehensive optimization of the ECCE tracker using AI. The work required a complex parametrization of the simulated detector system. Our approach dealt with an optimization problem in a multidimensional design space driven by multiple objectives that encode the detector performance, while satisfying several mechanical constraints. We describe our strategy and show results obtained for the ECCE tracking system. The AI-assisted design is agnostic to the simulation framework and can be extended to other sub-detectors or to a system of sub-detectors to further optimize the performance of the EIC detector.

We propose to utilize the exclusive $Z$-boson rare decays $Z\to Υ(ns)+γ$ to constrain the $Zb\bar{b}$ couplings at the HL-LHC and 100 TeV proton-proton collider. We demonstrate that the event yield of the proposed processes is sensitive to the axial-vector component of the $Zb\bar{b}$ coupling and can provide complementary information to the jet-charge weighted single-spin asymmetry measurement at the EIC and the $gg\to Zh$ production rate measurement at the LHC. By applying the NRQCD factorization formalism, we calculate the partial decay width of $Z\to Υ(ns)+γ$ to the NLO accuracy in strong interaction, which is found to agree with those obtained from the light-cone distribution amplitude approach. We show that the HL-LHC can break the degeneracy of the $Zb\bar{b}$ couplings, as implied by the precision electroweak data at LEP and SLC, if the signal efficiency can be improved by a factor of 1.7 from the present ATLAS analysis at the 13 TeV LHC with an integrated luminosity of $36.1~{\rm fb}^{-1}$.

Perturbative QCD is applied to investigate the near threshold heavy quarkonium photoproduction at large momentum transfer. We take into account the contributions from the leading three-quark Fock states of the nucleon. The dominant contribution comes from the three-quark Fock state with one unit quark orbital angular momentum (OAM) whereas that from zero quark OAM is suppressed at the threshold. From our analysis, we also show that there is no direct connection between the near threshold heavy quarkonium photoproduction and the gluonic gravitational form factors of the nucleon. Based on the comparison between our result and recent GlueX data of $J/ψ$ photoproduction, we make predictions for $ψ'$ and $Υ$ (1S,2S) states which can be tested in future experiments.

In this paper, the soft gluon resummation effect in double heavy quarkonium production at the LHC is studied. By applying the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism, the large logarithms introduced by the small total transverse momentum of heavy quarkonium pair final state system, are resummed to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling at the Next-to-Leading Logarithm accuracy. We also compare our result with the LHC data. We find that the distribution shape predicted by resummation calculation is consistent with experimental data very well. Since this process is mainly initiated by gluon fusion, it supplies us an important channel to study the gluon parton property in hadrons.

From an explicit calculation, we show that the conventional power counting method will be modified and the three quark Fock state with nonzero orbital angular momentum dominates the near threshold production. It carries a power behavior of $1/(-t)^5$ for the differential cross section. We further comment on the impact of our results on the interpretation of the experiment measurement in terms of the gluonic gravitational form factors of the proton.

While the standard model is the most successfully theory to describe all interactions and constituents in elementary particle physics, it has been constantly examined for over four decades. Weak decays of charm quarks can measure the coupling strength of quarks in different families and serve as an ideal probe for CP violation. As the lowest charm-strange baryons with three different flavors, $Ξ_c$ baryons (made of $csu$ or $csd$) have been extensively studied in experiments at the large hadron collider and in electron-positron collision. However the lack of reliable knowledge in theory becomes the unavoidable obstacle in the way. In this work, we use the state-of-the-art Lattice QCD techniques, and generate 2+1 clover fermion ensembles with two lattice spacings, $a=(0.108{\rm fm},0.080{\rm fm})$. We then present the first {\it ab-initio} lattice QCD determination of form factors governing $Ξ_{c}\to Ξ\ell^+ν_{\ell}$, analogous with the notable $β$-decay of nuclei. Our theoretical results for decay widths are consistent with and about two times more precise than the latest measurements by ALICE and Belle collaborations. Together with experimental measurements, we independently determine the quark-mixing matrix element $|V_{cs}|$, which is found in good agreement with other determinations.

The Spin Physics Detector, a universal facility for studying the nucleon spin structure and other spin-related phenomena with polarized proton and deuteron beams, is proposed to be placed in one of the two interaction points of the NICA collider that is under construction at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russia). At the heart of the project there is huge experience with polarized beams at JINR.
The main objective of the proposed experiment is the comprehensive study of the unpolarized and polarized gluon content of the nucleon. Spin measurements at the Spin Physics Detector at the NICA collider have bright perspectives to make a unique contribution and challenge our understanding of the spin structure of the nucleon. In this document the Conceptual Design of the Spin Physics Detector is presented.

The mass components of charmoniumlike states are investigated through the decomposition of QCD energy-momentum tensor (EMT) on lattice. The quark mass contribution $\langle H_m\rangle$ and the momentum fraction $\langle x\rangle$ of valence charm quark and antiquark are calculated for conventional $1S,1P,1D$ charmonia and the exotic $1^{-+}$ charmoniumlike state, based on the $N_f=2+1$ gauge configurations generated by the RBC/UKQCD collaboration. It is found that $\langle H_m\rangle$ is close to each other and around 2.0 to 2.2 GeV for these states, which implies that the mass splittings among these states come almost from the gluon contribution of QCD trace anomaly. The $\langle x\rangle$ of the $1^{-+}$ state is only around 0.55, while that in conventional charmonia is around 0.7 to 0.8. This difference manifests that the proportion of light quarks and gluons in the $1^{-+}$ charmoniumlike state is significantly larger than conventional states.

We systematically studied the branching fractions of the radiative decays of bottomonium into charmonium. Compared to the previous calculation, we obtained the analytical expression for the decay widths and considered the color-octet contributions. For $Υ(nS) \to η_c(nS)+γ$, the relativistic corrections are also obtained. Through the calculation, the theoretical prediction for $Υ(1S)\toχ_{c1}+γ$ is still smaller than the recent Belle measurement. Further theoretical work and experimental analysis are necessary to understand the $χ_{c1}$ production mechanism in upsilon decays.

They may have non-trivial generational structure to their couplings, and may be produced either in pairs via the strong and EM interactions, or singly via the new couplings of the model. Their decays often produce heavy quarks and gauge bosons, which will contribute to a variety of already-measured "Standard Model" cross-sections at the LHC. We present a study of the sensitivity of such published LHC measurements to vector-like quarks, first comparing to limits already obtained from dedicated searches, and then broadening to some so-far unstudied parameter regions.

By applying the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism, large logarithms introduced by small total transverse momentum $q_\perp$ of the single-top (anti-top) plus one-jet final state system are resummed to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling at the accuracy of Next-to-Leading Logarithm. We discuss various kinematical distributions which are sensitive to this effect and find that soft gluon radiation become more important when the final state jet is required to be in the forward region. We show that the main difference from PYTHIA prediction lies on the inclusion of the exact color coherence effect between the initial and final states in our resummation calculation. We further propose to apply the experimental observable $φ^*$ to test the effect of multiple gluon radiation in the single-top and anti-top events. The bottom quark mass effect and jet rapidity distribution are also discussed.

In the lattice simulation, we use a Gaussian-momentum-smeared source at $M_π=356$ MeV and $P_z \in \{1.8,2.3\}$ GeV. To control the systematics associated with the excited states, we explore {five different source-sink separations}. The nonperturbative renormalization is conducted in a regularization-independent momentum subtraction scheme, and the matching between the renormalized quasi-PDF and $\bar{\rm MS}$ PDF is calculated based on perturbative QCD up to one-loop order. Systematic errors due to renormalization and perturbative matching are also analyzed in detail. Our results for lightcone PDF are in reasonable agreement with the latest phenomenological analysis.

Future experiments at the Jefferson Lab 12 GeV upgrade, in particular, the Solenoidal Large Intensity Device (SoLID), aim at a very precise data set in the region where the partonic structure of the nucleon is dominated by the valence quarks. One of the main goals is to constrain the quark transversity distributions. We apply recent theoretical advances of the global QCD extraction of the transversity distributions to study the impact of future experimental data from the SoLID experiments. Especially, we develop a simple strategy based on the Hessian matrix analysis that allows one to estimate the uncertainties of the transversity quark distributions and their tensor charges extracted from SoLID data simulation. We find that the SoLID measurements with the proton and the effective neutron targets can improve the precision of the u- and d-quark transversity distributions up to one order of magnitude in the range 0.05 < x < 0.6.

We study Higgs boson plus two high energy jets production at the LHC in the kinematics where the two jets are well separated in rapidity. The partonic processes are dominated by the t-channel weak boson fusion (WBF) and gluon fusion (GF) contributions. We derive the associated QCD resummation formalism for the correlation analysis where the total transverse momentum q_\perp of the Higgs boson and two jets is small. Because of different color structures, the resummation results lead to distinguished behaviors: the WBF contribution peaks at relative low q_\perp while all GF channel contributions are strongly de-correlated and spread to a much wider q_\perp range. By applying a kinematic cut on q_\perp, one can effectively increase the WBF signal to the GF background by a significant factor. This greatly strengthens the ability to investigate the WBF channel in Higgs boson production and study the couplings of Higgs to electroweak bosons.

All the relevant coefficients are calculated up to the next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) order accuracy. By applying the TMD evolution at the approximate NLL order in the Collins-Soper-Sterman (CSS) formalism, we extract transversity distributions for $u$ and $d$ quarks and Collins fragmentation functions from current experimental data by a global analysis of the Collins asymmetries in back-to-back di-hadron productions in $e^+e^-$ annihilations measured by BELLE and BABAR Collaborations and SIDIS data from HERMES, COMPASS, and JLab HALL A experiments. The impact of the evolution effects and the relevant theoretical uncertainties are discussed. Even sub-nanosecond duration magnetic fields can be detected with a relatively low bandwidth system by latching image currents on a capacitor. At accelerators, this technique is employed routinely by beam-current monitors, which work for pulses even as fast as femtoseconds. We discuss scaling up these instruments in size, to 100 meters and beyond, to serve as a new kind of ground- and space-based high-energy particle detector which can instrument large areas relatively inexpensively. This new technique may be used to detect and/or veto ultra-high energy cosmic-ray showers above 100 PeV. It may also be applied to searches for hypothetical highly charged particles. In addition, these detectors may serve to search for extremely short magnetic field pulses of any origin, faster than other detectors by orders of magnitude.

This summary is complemented by brief illustrations of some of the highlights of the physics programme, which relies on a vastly extended kinematic range, luminosity and unprecedented precision in deep inelastic scattering. Illustrations are provided regarding high precision QCD, new physics (Higgs, SUSY) and electron-ion physics. The LHeC is designed to run synchronously with the LHC in the twenties and to achieve an integrated luminosity of O(100) fb$^{-1}$. In this paper the next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections to $B_c$ meson exclusive decays to S-wave charmonia and light pseudoscalar or vector mesons, i.e. $π$, $K$, $ρ$, and $K^*$, are performed within non-relativistic (NR) QCD approach. The non-factorizable contribution is included, which is absent in traditional naive factorization (NF). And the theoretical uncertainties for their branching ratios are reduced compared with that of direct tree level calculation. Numerical results show that NLO QCD corrections markedly enhance the branching ratio with a K factor of 1.75 for $B_{c}^{\pm}\to η_{c} π^{\pm}$ and 1.31 for $B_{c}^{\pm}\to J/ψπ^{\pm}$. In order to investigate the asymptotic behavior, the analytic form is obtained in the heavy quark limit, i.e. $m_b \to \infty$. We note that annihilation topologies contribute trivia in this limit, and the corrections at leading order in $z= m_c/m_b$ expansion come from form factors and hard spectator interactions. At last, some related phenomenologies are also discussed.

The physics programme and the design are described of a new collider for particle and nuclear physics, the Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC), in which a newly built electron beam of 60 GeV, up to possibly 140 GeV, energy collides with the intense hadron beams of the LHC. Compared to HERA, the kinematic range covered is extended by a factor of twenty in the negative four-momentum squared, $Q^2$, and in the inverse Bjorken $x$, while with the design luminosity of $10^{33}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$ the LHeC is projected to exceed the integrated HERA luminosity by two orders of magnitude. The physics programme is devoted to an exploration of the energy frontier, complementing the LHC and its discovery potential for physics beyond the Standard Model with high precision deep inelastic scattering measurements. These are designed to investigate a variety of fundamental questions in strong and electroweak interactions. The physics programme also includes electron-deuteron and electron-ion scattering in a $(Q^2, 1/x)$ range extended by four orders of magnitude as compared to previous lepton-nucleus DIS experiments for novel investigations of neutron's and nuclear structure, the initial conditions of Quark-Gluon Plasma formation and further quantum chromodynamic phenomena. The LHeC may be realised either as a ring-ring or as a linac-ring collider. Optics and beam dynamics studies are presented for both versions, along with technical design considerations on the interaction region, magnets and further components, together with a design study for a high acceptance detector. Civil engineering and installation studies are presented for the accelerator and the detector. The LHeC can be built within a decade and thus be operated while the LHC runs in its high-luminosity phase. It thus represents a major opportunity for progress in particle physics exploiting the investment made in the LHC.

Based on the non-relativistic QCD factorization formalism, we calculate the bottomonium ground state, $η_b$, inclusive charm decays at the leading order in the strong coupling constant $α_s$ and quarkonium internal relative velocity $v$. The inclusive charm pair production in $η_b$ decay is mainly realized through $η_b \to c \bar{c} g$ process, where the charm and anti-charm quarks then dominantly hadronize into charmed hadrons. The momentum distributions of the final states are presented. In this work, we also calculate the $J/ψ$ inclusive production rate in the $η_b$ decays, where the color-octet contribution is found to be very important. We expect this study may shed some light on finding $η_b$ or knowing more about its nature.

Abstract:
We propose that the radiative decay process, η_b\to J/ψγ, may serve as a clean searching mode for η_b in hadron collision facilities. By a perturbative QCD calculation, we estimate the corresponding branching ratio to be of order 10^{-7}. Though very suppressed, this radiative decay channel in fact has larger branching ratio than the hadronic decay process η_b\to J/ψJ/ψ, which was previously hop…

We propose that the radiative decay process, η_b\to J/ψγ, may serve as a clean searching mode for η_b in hadron collision facilities. By a perturbative QCD calculation, we estimate the corresponding branching ratio to be of order 10^{-7}. Though very suppressed, this radiative decay channel in fact has larger branching ratio than the hadronic decay process η_b\to J/ψJ/ψ, which was previously hoped to be a viable mode for ferreting out η_b in Tevatron Run 2. The discovery potential of η_b through this channel seems promising in the forthcoming LHC experiments and maybe even in Tevatron Run 2, thanks to the huge statistics of η_b to be accumulated in these experiments. The same calculational scheme is also used to estimate the branching ratios for the processes η_b (η_c) \to φγ.
