Search for charmed baryons in the $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ system and measurement of the branching fractions of $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ and $pD^0$ relative to $Σしぐま_c(2455)πぱい$

Abstract: We search for excited charmed baryons in the $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ system using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. No significant signals are found in the $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ mass spectrum, including the known $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$. We set upper limits at 90\% credibility level on ratios of branching fractions of $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ relative to $Σしぐま_c(2455)πぱい$ of $<0.13$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $<1.11$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$. We measure ratios of branching fractions of $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $pD^0$ relative to $Σしぐま_c(2455)πぱい$ of $0.75 \pm 0.03(\text{stat.}) \pm 0.07(\text{syst.})$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $3.59 \pm 0.21(\text{stat.}) \pm 0.56(\text{syst.})$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$. △ Less

By multiplying by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, ${\mathcal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0}\toΞくしー^{-}πぱい^{+})$, we obtain the following absolute branching fraction results $(6.9 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.5 ({\rm syst}) \pm 1.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, $(1.6 \pm 0.2 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, and $(1.2 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.1 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, for $Ξくしー_{c}^{0}$ decays to $Ξくしー^{0}πぱい^{0}$, $Ξくしー^{0}ηいーた$, and $Ξくしー^{0}ηいーた^{\prime}$ final states, respectively. The third errors are from the uncertainty on ${\mathcal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0}\toΞくしー^{-}πぱい^{+})$. Training Deep 3D Convolutional Neural Networks to Extract BSM Physics Parameters Directly from HEP Data: a Proof-of-Concept Study Using Monte Carlo Simulations

Abstract: We report on a novel application of computer vision techniques to extract beyond the Standard Model (BSM) parameters directly from high energy physics (HEP) flavor data. We develop a method of transforming angular and kinematic distributions into "quasi-images" that can be used to train a convolutional neural network to perform regression tasks, similar to fitting. This contrasts with the usual cl… ▽ More We report on a novel application of computer vision techniques to extract beyond the Standard Model (BSM) parameters directly from high energy physics (HEP) flavor data. We develop a method of transforming angular and kinematic distributions into "quasi-images" that can be used to train a convolutional neural network to perform regression tasks, similar to fitting. This contrasts with the usual classification functions performed using ML/AI in HEP. As a proof-of-concept, we train a 34-layer Residual Neural Network to regress on these images and determine the Wilson Coefficient $C_{9}$ in MC (Monte Carlo) simulations of $B \rightarrow K^{*}μみゅー^{+}μみゅー^{-}$ decays. The technique described here can be generalized and may find applicability across various HEP experiments and elsewhere. △ Less

Measurement of Angular Coefficients of $\bar{B} \to D^* \ell \barνにゅー_\ell$: Implications for $|V_{cb}|$ and Tests of Lepton Flavor Universality

First Simultaneous Determination of Inclusive and Exclusive $\left|V_{ub}\right|$

This allows for the reconstruction of the hadronic $X_u$ system of the semileptonic $b \to u \ell \bar νにゅー_\ell$ decay. We separate exclusive $B \to πぱい\, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ decays from other inclusive $B \to X_u \, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ and backgrounds with a two-dimensional fit, that utilizes the number of charged pions in the $X_u$ system and the four-momentum transfer $q^2$ between the $B$ and $X_u$ system. Combining our measurement with information from lattice QCD and QCD calculations of the inclusive partial rate as well as external experimental information on the shape of the $B \to πぱい\, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ form factor, we determine $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| = (3.78 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.14)\times 10^{-3}$ and $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = (3.88 \pm 0.20 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-3}$, respectively, with the uncertainties being the statistical error, systematic errors, and theory errors. The ratio of $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| / \left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = 0.97 \pm 0.12$ is compatible with unity. △ Less

We extract the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed (BGL) form factor parameters and use an external input for the absolute branching fractions to determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element and find $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{CLN} = (40.1\pm0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ and $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{BGL} = (40.6\pm 0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ with the zero-recoil lattice QCD point $\mathcal{F}(1) = 0.906 \pm 0.013$. We also perform a study of the impact of preliminary beyond zero-recoil lattice QCD calculations on the $|V_{cb}|$ determinations. Additionally, we present the lepton flavor universality ratio $R_{eμみゅー} = \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* e \barνにゅー_e) / \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* μみゅー\barνにゅー_μみゅー) = 0.990 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.023$, the electron and muon forward-backward asymmetry and their difference $ΔでるたA_{FB}=0.022\pm0.026\pm 0.007$, and the electron and muon $D^*$ longitudinal polarization fraction and their difference $ΔでるたF_L^{D^*} = 0.034 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.007$. Observation of $e^+e^-\toωおめがχかい_{bJ}(1P)$ and search for $X_b \to ωおめがΥうぷしろん(1S)$ at $\sqrt{s}$ near 10.75 GeV

Abstract: We study the processes $e^+e^-\toωおめがχかい_{bJ}(1P)$ ($J$ = 0, 1, or 2) using samples at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.701, 10.745, and 10.805 GeV, corresponding to 1.6, 9.8, and 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, respectively. These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observatio… ▽ More We study the processes $e^+e^-\toωおめがχかい_{bJ}(1P)$ ($J$ = 0, 1, or 2) using samples at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.701, 10.745, and 10.805 GeV, corresponding to 1.6, 9.8, and 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, respectively. These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observation of $ωおめがχかい_{bJ}(1P)$ signals at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.745 GeV. By combining Belle II data with Belle results at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.867 GeV, we find energy dependencies of the Born cross sections for $e^+e^-\to ωおめがχかい_{b1,b2}(1P)$ to be consistent with the shape of the $Υうぷしろん(10753)$ state. These data indicate that the internal structures of the $Υうぷしろん(10753)$ and $Υうぷしろん(10860)$ states may differ. Including data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.653 GeV, we also search for the bottomonium equivalent of the $X(3872)$ state decaying into $ωおめがΥうぷしろん(1S)$. The branching fractions relative to $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0$ are measured as: $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた}/\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}=0.25 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}=0.33 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.02$. Using $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}=(1.25 \pm 0.10)\%$, we obtain $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた}=(3.14 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.25)\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'}=(4.16 \pm 0.75 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.33)\times10^{-3}$. Here the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}$, respectively. The ratio of the branching fraction of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'$ with respect to that of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた}=1.34 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.06$. We update the asymmetry parameter of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0$, $αあるふぁ_{Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0} = -0.48 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.02$, with a considerably improved precision. The asymmetry parameters of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた$ and $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'$ are measured to be $αあるふぁ_{Σしぐま^+ ηいーた} = -0.99 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.05$ and $αあるふぁ_{Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'} = -0.46 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.03$ for the first time. △ Less

Abstract: Belle II is an experiment operating at the intensity frontier. Over the next decades, it will record the decay of billions of bottom mesons, charm hadrons, and tau leptons produced in 10 GeV electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB high-luminosity collider at KEK. These data, collected in low-background and kinematically known conditions, will allow us to measure hundreds of parameters that t… ▽ More Belle II is an experiment operating at the intensity frontier. Over the next decades, it will record the decay of billions of bottom mesons, charm hadrons, and tau leptons produced in 10 GeV electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB high-luminosity collider at KEK. These data, collected in low-background and kinematically known conditions, will allow us to measure hundreds of parameters that test the standard model (SM) and probe for the existence of new particles, at mass scales orders of magnitudes higher than those studied at the energy frontier. We project our sensitivities for measurements that are of primary relevance and where Belle II will be unique or world leading for data corresponding to 1 to 50 ab$^{-1}$. Belle II will uniquely probe non-SM contributions in sensitive $b \to q\bar q s$ decays and charmless $b \to q\bar q d(u)$ decays, semileptonic $b \to s νにゅー\barνにゅー$ and $s τたう^+ τたう^-$ decays, fully leptonic $b \to \ell νにゅー$ decays, and select $c \to u$ processes. Belle II will lead exploration of non-SM physics in $b \to c τたうνにゅー$ and $b \to s γがんま$ decays and will most precisely determine the quark-mixing parameters $|V_{ub}|$ and $|V_{cb}|$. Belle II will measure many parameters in $τたう$ physics to precisions that will be world leading for the foreseeable future, including the electric and magnetic dipole moments, branching fractions for charged-lepton-flavor-violating decays, and quantities that test lepton-flavor universality. Belle II will perform unique searches for dark-sector particles with masses in the MeV-GeV range. We will also pursue a broad spectroscopy program for conventional and multiquark $c \bar c$ and $b \bar b$ states and provide essential inputs to sharpen the interpretation of muon magnetic-anomaly results. Our exploration of uncharted regions of non-SM parameter space with high precision will reveal non-SM particles or set stringent constraints on their existence, guiding future endeavors. △ Less

We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. The results agree with previous measurements. This is the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ in $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays reported by Belle II. △ Less

Implications for the $ΔでるたA_{FB}$ anomaly in ${\bar B}^0\to D^{*+}\ell^- {\barνにゅー}$ using a new Monte Carlo Event Generator

Here we focus on the charged-current case and specifically on the decay modes $\bar{B}^0\to D^{*+}\ell^- \barνにゅー$ with $\ell = e$ and $μみゅー$. The world averages of the ratios $R_D$ and $R_D^{*}$ currently differ from the Standard… ▽ More Recent experimental results in $B$ physics from Belle, BaBar and LHCb suggest new physics (NP) in the weak $b\to c$ charged-current and the $b\to s$ neutral-current processes. Here we focus on the charged-current case and specifically on the decay modes $\bar{B}^0\to D^{*+}\ell^- \barνにゅー$ with $\ell = e$ and $μみゅー$. The world averages of the ratios $R_D$ and $R_D^{*}$ currently differ from the Standard Model (SM) predictions by $3.4σしぐま$ while recently a new anomaly has been observed in the forward-backward asymmetry measurement, $A_{FB}$, in $ \bar{B}^0\to D^{*+}μみゅー^- \barνにゅー$ decay. It is found that $ΔでるたA_{FB} = A_{FB}(B\to D^{*} μみゅーνにゅー) - A_{FB} (B\to D^{*} e νにゅー)$ is around $4.1σしぐま$ away from the SM prediction in an analysis of 2019 Belle data. In this work we explore possible solutions to the $ΔでるたA_{FB}$ anomaly and point out correlated NP signals in other angular observables. These correlations between angular observables must be present in the case of beyond the Standard Model physics. We stress the importance of $Δでるた$ type observables that are obtained by taking the difference of the observable for the muon and the electron mode. These quantities cancel form factor uncertainties in the SM and allow for clean tests of NP. These intriguing results also suggest an urgent need for improved simulation and analysis techniques in $\bar{B}^0\to D^{*+}\ell^- \barνにゅー$ decays. Here we also describe a new Monte Carlo Event-generator tool based on EVTGEN that we developed to allow simulation of the NP signatures in $\bar{B}^0\to D^{*+}\ell^- νにゅー$, which arise due to the interference between the SM and NP amplitudes. We then discuss prospects for improved observables sensitive to NP couplings with 1, 5, 50, and 250 ab$^{-1}$ of Belle II data, which seem to be ideally suited for this class of measurements. △ Less

The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{0} πぱい^{+} \bar{p}) = (1.09 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.07)\times10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{++} πぱい^{-} \bar{p}) = (1.84\pm 0.11 \pm 0.12)\times 10^{-4}$, which are consistent with the world average values with improved precision. A new structure is found in the $M_{Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{0,++}πぱい^{\pm}}$ spectrum with a significance of $4.2σしぐま$ including systematic uncertainty. The structure is possibly an excited $Λらむだ_{c}^{+}$ and is tentatively named $Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+}$. Its mass and width are measured to be $(2913.8 \pm 5.6 \pm 3.8)$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $(51.8\pm20.0 \pm 18.8)$ MeV, respectively. The products of branching fractions for the $Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+}$ are measured to be ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times{\cal B}(Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{0}πぱい^{+}) = (9.5 \pm 3.6 \pm 1.6)\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λらむだ_{c} (2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times {\cal B}(Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{++}πぱい^{-}) = (1.24 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.10)\times 10^{-5}$. A new Monte Carlo Generator for BSM physics in $B\to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays with an application to lepton non-universality in angular distributions

Abstract: Within the widely used EvtGen framework, we have added a new event generator model for $B\to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ with improved standard model (SM) decay amplitudes and possible BSM physics contributions, which are implemented in the operator product expansion in terms of Wilson coefficients. This event generator can then be used to investigate the experimental sensitivity to the most general BSM si… ▽ More Within the widely used EvtGen framework, we have added a new event generator model for $B\to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ with improved standard model (SM) decay amplitudes and possible BSM physics contributions, which are implemented in the operator product expansion in terms of Wilson coefficients. This event generator can then be used to investigate the experimental sensitivity to the most general BSM signal resulting from dimension-six operators. We describe the advantages and potential of the newly developed `Sibidanov Physics Generator' in improving experimental sensitivity of searches for lepton non-universal BSM physics and clarifying signatures. The new generator can properly simulate BSM scenarios, interference between SM and BSM amplitudes, and correlations between different BSM observables as well as acceptance bias. We show that exploiting such correlations substantially improves experimental sensitivity. As a demonstration of the utility of the MC generator, we examine the prospects for improved measurements of lepton non-universality in angular distributions for $B \to K^* \ell \ell$ decays from the expected 50 ab$^{-1}$ data set of the Belle II experiment, using a four-dimensional unbinned maximum likelihood fit. We describe promising experimental signatures and correlations between observables. The use of lepton-universality violating $Δでるた$-observables significantly reduce uncertainties in the SM expectations due to QCD and resonance effects, are ideally suited for Belle II with the large data sets expected in the next decade. Our simulation studies also show that Belle II should have excellent sensitivity to BSM physics in the Wilson coefficients $C_7$ and $C_7'$, which appears at low $q^2$ in the di-electron channel. △ Less

We set the upper limits at 90\% credibility level (C.L.) on the product branching fractions for $Υうぷしろん(1S)\to γがんまA^0$ and $A^0\to τたう^+τたう^-$ varying from $3.8\times10^{-6}$ to $1.5\times10^{-4}$. Our results represent an approximately twofold improvement on the current world best upper limits for the $Υうぷしろん(1S)\to γがんまA^0(\to τたう^+τたう^-)$ production. For $A^0\to μみゅー^+μみゅー^-$, the upper limits on the product branching fractions for $Υうぷしろん(1S)\to γがんまA^0$ and $A^0\to μみゅー^+μみゅー^-$ are at the same level as the world average limits, and vary from $3.1\times10^{-7}$ to $1.6\times10^{-5}$. The upper limits at 90\% C.L. on the Yukawa coupling $f_{Υうぷしろん(1S)}$ and mixing angle ${\rm sin}θしーた_{A^0}$ are also given. △ Less

Taking the decay $Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- \pip$ as the normalization mode, we measure the branching fraction ratio ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to ΛらむだK_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+) = 0.229\pm0.008\pm0.012$ with improved precision, and measure the branching fraction ratios ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Σしぐま^0 K_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+) = 0.038\pm0.006\pm0.004$ and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Σしぐま^+ K^-)/{\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+) = 0.123\pm0.007\pm0.010$ for the first time. Taking into account the branching fraction of the normalization mode, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to ΛらむだK_S^0) = (3.27\pm0.11\pm0.17\pm0.73) \times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Σしぐま^0 K_S^0) = (0.54\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.12) \times 10^{-3}$, and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Σしぐま^+ K^-) = (1.76\pm 0.10\pm0.14\pm 0.39) \times 10^{-3}$. Abstract: This letter presents a search for the rare flavor-changing neutral current process $B^{0}\rightarrow K^{\ast 0}τたう^{+}τたう^{-}$ using data taken with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The analysis is based on the entire $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance data sample of 711 $\rm fb^{-1}$, corresponding to $772\times 10^{6} B \bar{B}$ pairs. In our search we fully reconstruct the companion $B$ meson produced in the process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowΥうぷしろん(4S)\rightarrow B\bar{B}$ from its hadronic decay modes, and look for the decay $B^{0}\rightarrow K^{\ast 0}τたう^{+}τたう^{-}$ in the rest of the event. No evidence for a signal is found. We report an upper limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}({B^{0}\rightarrow K^{\ast 0}τたう^{+}τたう^{-}})<3.1\times 10^{-3}$ at 90\% confidence level. Abstract: We report on the first Belle II measurement of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) and longitudinal polarization fraction ($f_L$) of $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression variable, dipion masses, and angular distributions of the resulting samples, to determine a signal yield of $104\pm16$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = [20.6 \pm 3.2(\rm stat) \pm 4.0(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, and $f_L(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = 0.936 ^{+0.049}_{-0.041}(\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$. This first Belle II $B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ angular analysis yields results compatible with previous determinations, and indicates Belle II performance superior to early Belle results. △ Less

We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔでるたE$ and $M_{\rm bc}$ distributions of the resulting samples are fit to determine signal yields of approximately 690, 840, and 380 decays for the channels $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, $B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+$, and $B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0$, respectively. These yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = [35.8 \pm 1.6(\rm stat) \pm 1.4 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = [67.0 \pm 3.3 (\rm stat)\pm 2.3 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = [38.1 \pm 3.5 (\rm stat)\pm 3.9 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = -0.103 \pm 0.042(\rm stat) \pm 0.020 (\rm syst)$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = -0.010 \pm 0.050 (\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = 0.207 \pm 0.088 (\rm stat)\pm 0.011(\rm syst)$. A clear $Λらむだ_c^+$ signal is observed for $Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ωおめが$ with a statistical significance of 9.1 standard deviations, and we measure the ratio of branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ωおめが)/{\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+) = (1.32 \pm 0.12 (\rm stat) \pm 0.10 (\rm syst))\times 10^{-2}$, from which we infer the branching fraction ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ωおめが) = (8.27 \pm 0.75 (\rm stat) \pm 0.62 (\rm syst) \pm 0.42 (\rm ref))\times 10^{-4}$. Impact of $B \to K νにゅー\bar νにゅー$ measurements on beyond the Standard Model theories

Abstract: Semileptonic flavor changing neutral current transitions with a pair of neutrinos in the final state are very accurately determined in the standard model (SM) and thus provide an accurate and sensitive probe for physics beyond the SM. Until recently, the poor tagging efficiency for the $B\to K^{(*)}νにゅー\barνにゅー$ modes made them less advantageous as a probe of new physics (NP) compared to the charged lep… ▽ More Semileptonic flavor changing neutral current transitions with a pair of neutrinos in the final state are very accurately determined in the standard model (SM) and thus provide an accurate and sensitive probe for physics beyond the SM. Until recently, the poor tagging efficiency for the $B\to K^{(*)}νにゅー\barνにゅー$ modes made them less advantageous as a probe of new physics (NP) compared to the charged lepton counterparts. The most recent Belle II result on $B\to K νにゅー\barνにゅー$ uses an innovative inclusive tagging technique resulting in a higher tagging efficiency; this together with previous BaBar and Belle results indicates a possible enhancement in the branching fraction of $B^+\to K^+ νにゅー\barνにゅー$. A reanalysis of the full Belle dataset together with upcoming Belle II dataset is expected to result in a much more precise measurement of this mode. If the branching ratio is indeed found to be enhanced with improved measurements, this would provide an unambiguous signal of NP without uncertainties due to long-distance non-factorizable effects or power corrections (in contrast to $B\to K^{(*)} \ell \ell$). We have explored the possibilities of such an enhancement as a signal of NP within several scenarios, which can also explain some of the other tensions observed in neutral as well as charged current $B$-decays. In an effective field theory approach, with the most general dimension-six Hamiltonian including light right-handed neutrinos, we explore the viability of all scalar and vector leptoquarks as well as the parameter space possible with a generic vector gauge boson $Z^\prime$ model assuming minimal new particle content. While being consistent with all data, correlations between the observed intriguing discrepancies in $B$-decays are also obtained, which will discriminate between the various NP scenarios. △ Less

We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 πぱい^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0πぱい^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 πぱい^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0πぱい^0$ decays reported by Belle II. The corresponding ratio ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0} \to Ξくしー^{-} e^{+} νにゅー_{e})/{\cal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0} \to Ξくしー^{-} μみゅー^{+} νにゅー_μみゅー)$ is $1.03 \pm 0.05\pm 0.07$, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter ${\cal A}_{CP} = (αあるふぁ_{Ξくしー^{-}πぱい^{+}} + αあるふぁ_{\barΞくしー^{+}πぱい^{-}})/(αあるふぁ_{Ξくしー^{-}πぱい^{+}} - αあるふぁ_{\barΞくしー^{+}πぱい^{-}}) = 0.024 \pm 0.052 \pm 0.014$ is found to be consistent with zero. The signal yield of the $Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ηいーた$ process is $7734 \pm 263$; from this, we measure the ratio of branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ηいーた)/{\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+) = (2.258 \pm 0. 077(\rm stat. ) \pm 0.136(\rm syst. ))\times 10^{-2}$, from which we infer the branching fraction ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ηいーた) = (1.42 \pm 0.05(\rm stat.) \pm 0.11(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-3}$. In addition, no significant signal for $Λらむだ_c^+ \to p πぱい^0$ is found so an upper limit on the branching fraction of ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p πぱい^0)<8.0 \times 10^{-5}$ at 90\% credibility level is set, more than three times better than the best current upper limit. △ Less

Similarly, the branching fraction obtained for $B^0 \toφふぁいφふぁいK^0$ below the $ηいーた_{c}$ threshold is $[3.02^{\,+\,0.75}_{\,-\,0.66} ({\rm stat})\pm \,0.20({\rm syst})]\times10^{-6}$. The signal yields for these decays are extracted from the recoil mass spectrum of the system recoiling against $\barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}$ baryons in selected $B^-$ candidates. The branching fraction of $B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}(2790)^{0}$ is measured to be $ (1.1 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. We then measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^+){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+)$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^+){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+)$. Dividing these product branching fractions by $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{+}$ yields: ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+) = [2.86 \pm 1.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.38(\rm syst.)]\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+)=[0.45 \pm 0.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.07(\rm syst.)]\%$. Our result for ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+)$ can be combined with $Ξくしー_c^+$ branching fractions measured relative to $Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+$ to set the absolute scale for many $Ξくしー_c^+$ branching fractions. △ Less

Observation of $e^+e^- \to γがんまχかい_{c1}$ and search for $e^+e^- \to γがんまχかい_{c0}, γがんまχかい_{c2},$ and $γがんまηいーた_c$ at $\sqrt{s}$ near 10.6 GeV at Belle

Abstract: Using data samples of 89.5~fb$^{-1}$, 711.0~fb$^{-1}$, and 121.4~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider at center-of-mass energies 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.867 GeV, respectively, we study the exclusive reactions $e^+e^-\toγがんまχかい_{cJ}$ ($J = 0,~1,~2$) and $e^+e^-\toγがんまηいーた_c$. A significant $γがんまχかい_{c1}$ signal is observed for the first time at… ▽ More Using data samples of 89.5~fb$^{-1}$, 711.0~fb$^{-1}$, and 121.4~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider at center-of-mass energies 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.867 GeV, respectively, we study the exclusive reactions $e^+e^-\toγがんまχかい_{cJ}$ ($J = 0,~1,~2$) and $e^+e^-\toγがんまηいーた_c$. A significant $γがんまχかい_{c1}$ signal is observed for the first time at $\sqrt{s}=10.58$ GeV with a significance of $5.1σしぐま$ including systematic uncertainties. No significant excesses for $γがんまχかい_{c0}$, $γがんまχかい_{c2}$, and $γがんまηいーた_c$ final states are found, and we set 90\% credibility level upper limits on the Born cross sections ($σしぐま_{\rm B}$) at 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.867~GeV. Abstract: We present the physics program of the Belle II experiment, located on the intensity frontier SuperKEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theor… ▽ More We present the physics program of the Belle II experiment, located on the intensity frontier SuperKEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, phi_1 and phi_2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, phi_3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Experimentalists investigated the expected improvements with the large dataset expected from Belle II, taking into account improved performance from the upgraded detector. △ Less

Using a sum-of-exclusive technique with invariant $X_s$ mass up to 2.8~GeV/$c^2$, we obtain $Δでるた_{0-} = \bigl[-0.48 \pm 1.49 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.97 {\rm (syst.)} \pm 1.15 {(f_{+-}/f_{00})}\bigr]$\% and $ΔでるたA_{CP} = \bigl[+3.69 \pm 2.65 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.76{\rm (syst.)}\bigr]$\%, where the last uncertainty for $Δでるた_{0-}$ is due to the uncertainty on the production ratio of $B^+B^-$ to $B^0\bar{B}^0$ in $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ decays. The measured value of $Δでるた_{0-}$ is consistent with zero, allowing us to constrain the resolved photon contribution in the $B \to X_s γがんま$, and improve the branching fraction prediction. The result for $ΔでるたA_{CP}$ is consistent with the prediction of the SM. We also measure the direct $CP$ asymmetries for charged and neutral $B \to X_s γがんま$ decays. Abstract: We report evidence for the charged charmed-strange baryon $Ξくしー_{c}(2930)^+$ with a signal significance of 3.9$σしぐま$ with systematic errors included. The charged $Ξくしー_{c}(2930)^+$ is found in its decay to $K_{S}^{0} Λらむだ_{c}^+$ in the substructure of $\bar{B}^{0} \to K^{0}_{S} Λらむだ_{c}^{+} \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}$ decays. We also measure $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λらむだ_{c}^{+} \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76(\rm stat.) \pm 0.51(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_ηいーた$, in the $Λらむだ_{c}^{+}\barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ or $Y_ηいーた$ are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ nor its spin partner are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. Search for light tetraquark states in $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays

No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their branching… ▽ More We search for the $J^{PC}=0^{--}$ and $1^{+-}$ light tetraquark states with masses up to 2.46~GeV/$c^2$ in $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays with data samples of $(102\pm 2)$ million and $(158\pm 4)$ million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their branching fractions in $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays into final states with $f_1(1285)$ are measured to be ${\cal B}(Υうぷしろん(1S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(46\pm28({\rm stat.})\pm13({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(Υうぷしろん(2S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(22\pm15({\rm stat.})\pm6.3({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$. The measured $χかい_{b2} \to J/ψぷさい+ anything$ branching fraction is measured to be $(1.50\pm0.34({\rm stat.})\pm0.22({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-3}$, and 90\% C.L. upper limits for the $χかい_{b0,b1} \to J/ψぷさい+ anything$ branching fractions are found to be $2.3\times 10^{-3}$ and $1.1\times 10^{-3}$, respectively. For ${\cal B}(χかい_{b1} \to ωおめが+ anything)$, the branching fraction is measured to be $(4.9\pm1.3({\rm stat.})\pm0.6({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-2}$. %($<3.68\times 10^{-2}$ at 90\% C.L.). Abstract: We report a measurement of the CP violation parameter $\varphi_1$ obtained in a time-dependent analysis of $B^0\to\bar{D}{}^{(*)0}h^0$ decays followed by $\bar{D}{}^0\to K_S^0πぱい^+πぱい^-$ decay. A model-independent measurement is performed using the binned Dalitz plot technique. The measured value is $\varphi_1 = 11.7^{\circ}\pm7.8^{\circ}({\rm stat.})\pm 2.1^{\circ}({\rm syst.})$.
