Angular analysis of $B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays reconstructed in 2019-2020 Belle II data

Abstract: We report on the first Belle II measurement of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) and longitudinal polarization fraction ($f_L$) of $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb… ▽ More We report on the first Belle II measurement of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) and longitudinal polarization fraction ($f_L$) of $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression variable, dipion masses, and angular distributions of the resulting samples, to determine a signal yield of $104\pm16$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = [20.6 \pm 3.2(\rm stat) \pm 4.0(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, and $f_L(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = 0.936 ^{+0.049}_{-0.041}(\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$. This first Belle II $B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ angular analysis yields results compatible with previous determinations, and indicates Belle II performance superior to early Belle results. △ Less

We use a sample of collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔでるたE$ and $M_{\rm bc}$ distributions of the resulting samples are fit to determine signal yields of approximately 690, 840, and 380 decays for the channels $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, $B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+$, and $B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0$, respectively. These yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = [35.8 \pm 1.6(\rm stat) \pm 1.4 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = [67.0 \pm 3.3 (\rm stat)\pm 2.3 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = [38.1 \pm 3.5 (\rm stat)\pm 3.9 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = -0.103 \pm 0.042(\rm stat) \pm 0.020 (\rm syst)$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = -0.010 \pm 0.050 (\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = 0.207 \pm 0.088 (\rm stat)\pm 0.011(\rm syst)$. We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 πぱい^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0πぱい^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 πぱい^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0πぱい^0$ decays reported by Belle II. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. These are the first measurements in charmless decays reported by Belle~II. Results are compatible with known determinations and show detector performance comparable with the best Belle results offering a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach. △ Less

Evidence for a vector charmonium-like state in $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$

Abstract: We report the measurement of $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$ via initial-state radiation using a data sample of an integrated luminosity of 921.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ and nearby. We find evidence for an enhancement with a 3.4$σしぐま$ significance in the invariant mass of $D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^- +c.c.$ The measured mass and width are… ▽ More We report the measurement of $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$ via initial-state radiation using a data sample of an integrated luminosity of 921.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ and nearby. The mass, width, and quantum numbers of this enhancement are consistent with the charmonium-like state at 4626 MeV/$c^2$ recently reported by Belle in $e^+e^-\to D^+_sD_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c.$ The product of the $e^+e^-\to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$ cross section and the branching fraction of $D^*_{s2}(2573)^-\to{\bar D}^0K^-$ is measured from $D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ threshold to 5.6 GeV. △ Less

The signal yields for these decays are extracted from the recoil mass spectrum of the system recoiling against $\barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}$ baryons in selected $B^-$ candidates. The branching fraction of $B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}(2790)^{0}$ is measured to be $ (1.1 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The 90\% credibility level upper limits on ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{'0})$ and ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}(2645)^{0})$ are determined to be $6.5\times 10^{-4}$ and $7.9\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. △ Less

We measure the absolute branching fraction of $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{+}$ with the $Ξくしー_c^+$ recoiling against $\barΛらむだ_c^-$ in $\bar{B}^0$ decays resulting in ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{+}) = [1.16 \pm 0.42(\rm stat.) \pm 0.15(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-3}$. We then measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^+){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+)$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^+){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+)$. Dividing these product branching fractions by $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{+}$ yields: ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+) = [2.86 \pm 1.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.38(\rm syst.)]\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+)=[0.45 \pm 0.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.07(\rm syst.)]\%$. Our result for ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+)$ can be combined with $Ξくしー_c^+$ branching fractions measured relative to $Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+$ to set the absolute scale for many $Ξくしー_c^+$ branching fractions. △ Less

Abstract: We present the first measurements of absolute branching fractions of $Ξくしー_c^0$ decays into $Ξくしー^- πぱい^+$, $ΛらむだK^- πぱい^+$, and $p K^- K^- πぱい^+$ final states. The measurements are made using a data set comprising $(772\pm 11)\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. The measurements are made using a data set comprising $(772\pm 11)\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. We first measure the absolute branching fraction for $B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0$ using a missing-mass technique; the result is ${\cal B}(B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0) = (9.51 \pm 2.10 \pm 0.88) \times 10^{-4}$. We subsequently measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+)$, ${\cal B}( B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0) {\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to ΛらむだK^- πぱい^+)$, and ${\cal B}( B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0) {\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to p K^- K^- πぱい^+)$ with improved precision. Dividing these product branching fractions by the result for $B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0$ yields the following branching fractions: ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+)= (1.80 \pm 0.50 \pm 0.14)\%$, ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to ΛらむだK^- πぱい^+)=(1.17 \pm 0.37 \pm 0.09)\%$, and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to p K^- K^- πぱい^+)=(0.58 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.05)\%.$ For the above branching fractions, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Abstract: Using data samples of 89.5~fb$^{-1}$, 711.0~fb$^{-1}$, and 121.4~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider at center-of-mass energies 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.867 GeV, respectively, we study the exclusive reactions $e^+e^-\toγがんまχかい_{cJ}$ ($J = 0,~1,~2$) and $e^+e^-\toγがんまηいーた_c$. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, phi_1 and phi_2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, phi_3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Using a sum-of-exclusive technique with invariant $X_s$ mass up to 2.8~GeV/$c^2$, we obtain $Δでるた_{0-} = \bigl[-0.48 \pm 1.49 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.97 {\rm (syst.)} \pm 1.15 {(f_{+-}/f_{00})}\bigr]$\% and $ΔでるたA_{CP} = \bigl[+3.69 \pm 2.65 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.76{\rm (syst.)}\bigr]$\%, where the last uncertainty for $Δでるた_{0-}$ is due to the uncertainty on the production ratio of $B^+B^-$ to $B^0\bar{B}^0$ in $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ decays. The measured value of $Δでるた_{0-}$ is consistent with zero, allowing us to constrain the resolved photon contribution in the $B \to X_s γがんま$, and improve the branching fraction prediction. The result for $ΔでるたA_{CP}$ is consistent with the prediction of the SM. We also measure the direct $CP$ asymmetries for charged and neutral $B \to X_s γがんま$ decays. We also measure $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λらむだ_{c}^{+} \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76(\rm stat.) \pm 0.51(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_ηいーた$, in the $Λらむだ_{c}^{+}\barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ or $Y_ηいーた$ are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. Abstract: We search for the $J^{PC}=0^{--}$ and $1^{+-}$ light tetraquark states with masses up to 2.46~GeV/$c^2$ in $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays with data samples of $(102\pm 2)$ million and $(158\pm 4)$ million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their branching… ▽ More We search for the $J^{PC}=0^{--}$ and $1^{+-}$ light tetraquark states with masses up to 2.46~GeV/$c^2$ in $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays with data samples of $(102\pm 2)$ million and $(158\pm 4)$ million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their branching fractions in $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ decays into final states with $f_1(1285)$ are measured to be ${\cal B}(Υうぷしろん(1S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(46\pm28({\rm stat.})\pm13({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(Υうぷしろん(2S)\to f_1(1285)+anything)=(22\pm15({\rm stat.})\pm6.3({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-4}$. The measured $χかい_{b2} \to J/ψぷさい+ anything$ branching fraction is measured to be $(1.50\pm0.34({\rm stat.})\pm0.22({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-3}$, and 90\% C.L. upper limits for the $χかい_{b0,b1} \to J/ψぷさい+ anything$ branching fractions are found to be $2.3\times 10^{-3}$ and $1.1\times 10^{-3}$, respectively. For ${\cal B}(χかい_{b1} \to ωおめが+ anything)$, the branching fraction is measured to be $(4.9\pm1.3({\rm stat.})\pm0.6({\rm syst.}))\times 10^{-2}$. %($<3.68\times 10^{-2}$ at 90\% C.L.). Abstract: We report a measurement of the CP violation parameter $\varphi_1$ obtained in a time-dependent analysis of $B^0\to\bar{D}{}^{(*)0}h^0$ decays followed by $\bar{D}{}^0\to K_S^0πぱい^+πぱい^-$ decay. A model-independent measurement is performed using the binned Dalitz plot technique. The measured value is $\varphi_1 = 11.7^{\circ}\pm7.8^{\circ}({\rm stat.})\pm 2.1^{\circ}({\rm syst.})$. The $90\%$ confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions of the other modes having a significance of less than $3σしぐま$ are determined. Maximum Likelihood Signal Extraction Method Applied to 3.4 years of CoGeNT Data

Abstract: CoGeNT has taken data for over 3 years, with 1136 live days of data accumulated as of April 23, 2013. We report on the results of a maximum likelihood analysis to extract any possible dark matter signal present in the collected data. The maximum likelihood signal extraction uses 2-dimensional probability density functions (PDFs) to characterize the anticipated variations in dark matter interaction… ▽ More CoGeNT has taken data for over 3 years, with 1136 live days of data accumulated as of April 23, 2013. We report on the results of a maximum likelihood analysis to extract any possible dark matter signal present in the collected data. The maximum likelihood signal extraction uses 2-dimensional probability density functions (PDFs) to characterize the anticipated variations in dark matter interaction rates for given observable nuclear recoil energies during differing periods of the Earth's annual orbit around the Sun. Cosmogenic and primordial radioactivity backgrounds are characterized by their energy signatures and in some cases decay half-lives. A third parameterizing variable -- pulse rise-time -- is added to the likelihood analysis to characterize slow rising pulses described in prior analyses. The contribution to each event category is analyzed for various dark matter signal hypotheses including a dark matter standard halo model and a case with free oscillation parameters (i.e., amplitude, period, and phase). The best-fit dark matter signal is in close proximity to previously reported results. We find that the significance of the extracted dark matter signal remains well below evidentiary at 1.7 $σしぐま$. △ Less

The ratios of the branching fractions of $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ and $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ decays into the same final state are used to test a perturbative QCD prediction for OZI-suppressed bottomonium decays. △ Less

Abstract: The cross section for $e^+ e^- \to πぱい^+ πぱい^- J/ψぷさい$ between 3.8 GeV and 5.5 GeV is measured with a 967 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected by the Belle detector at or near the $Υうぷしろん(nS)$ ($n = 1,\ 2,\ ...,\ 5$) resonances. The Y(4260) state is observed, and its resonance parameters are determined. In addition, an excess of $πぱい^+ πぱい^- J/ψぷさい$ production around 4 GeV is observed. By virtue of its low energy threshold and ability to reject surface backgrounds, this type of device allows an emphasis on low-mass dark matter candidates (wimp mass of about 10 GeV/c2). We report on the characteristics of the PPC detector presently taking data at the Soudan Un… ▽ More CoGeNT employs p-type point-contact (PPC) germanium detectors to search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs). By virtue of its low energy threshold and ability to reject surface backgrounds, this type of device allows an emphasis on low-mass dark matter candidates (wimp mass of about 10 GeV/c2). We report on the characteristics of the PPC detector presently taking data at the Soudan Underground Laboratory, elaborating on aspects of shielding, data acquisition, instrumental stability, data analysis, and background estimation. A detailed background model is used to investigate the low energy excess of events previously reported, and to assess the possibility of temporal modulations in the low-energy event rate. Extensive simulations of all presently known backgrounds do not provide a viable background explanation for the excess of low-energy events in the CoGeNT data, or the previously observed temporal variation in the event rate. Also reported on for the first time is a determination of the surface (slow pulse rise time) event contamination in the data as a function of energy. We conclude that the CoGeNT detector technology is well suited to search for the annual modulation signature expected from dark matter particle interactions in the region of WIMP mass and coupling favored by the DAMA/LIBRA results △ Less
