Search for charmed baryons in the $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ system and measurement of the branching fractions of $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ and $pD^0$ relative to $Σしぐま_c(2455)πぱい$

Abstract: We search for excited charmed baryons in the $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ system using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. No significant signals are found in the $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ mass spectrum, including the known $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$. We set upper limits at 90\% credibility level on ratios of branching fractions of $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $Λらむだ_c^+ηいーた$ relative to $Σしぐま_c(2455)πぱい$ of $<0.13$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $<1.11$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$. We measure ratios of branching fractions of $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$ decaying to $pD^0$ relative to $Σしぐま_c(2455)πぱい$ of $0.75 \pm 0.03(\text{stat.}) \pm 0.07(\text{syst.})$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2880)^+$ and $3.59 \pm 0.21(\text{stat.}) \pm 0.56(\text{syst.})$ for the $Λらむだ_c(2940)^+$. △ Less

By multiplying by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, ${\mathcal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0}\toΞくしー^{-}πぱい^{+})$, we obtain the following absolute branching fraction results $(6.9 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.5 ({\rm syst}) \pm 1.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, $(1.6 \pm 0.2 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, and $(1.2 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.1 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, for $Ξくしー_{c}^{0}$ decays to $Ξくしー^{0}πぱい^{0}$, $Ξくしー^{0}ηいーた$, and $Ξくしー^{0}ηいーた^{\prime}$ final states, respectively. The third errors are from the uncertainty on ${\mathcal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0}\toΞくしー^{-}πぱい^{+})$. Exploring Baryon Resonances with Transition Generalized Parton Distributions: Status and Perspectives

Abstract: QCD gives rise to a rich spectrum of excited baryon states. Understanding their internal structure is important for many areas of nuclear physics, such as nuclear forces, dense matter, and neutrino-nucleus interactions. Generalized parton distributions (GPDs) are an established tool for characterizing the QCD structure of the ground-state nucleon. They are used to create 3D tomographic images of t… ▽ More QCD gives rise to a rich spectrum of excited baryon states. Understanding their internal structure is important for many areas of nuclear physics, such as nuclear forces, dense matter, and neutrino-nucleus interactions. Generalized parton distributions (GPDs) are an established tool for characterizing the QCD structure of the ground-state nucleon. They are used to create 3D tomographic images of the quark/gluon structure and quantify the mechanical properties such as the distribution of mass, angular momentum and forces in the system. Transition GPDs extend these concepts to $N \rightarrow N^\ast$ transitions and can be used to characterize the 3D structure and mechanical properties of baryon resonances. They can be probed in high-momentum-transfer exclusive electroproduction processes with resonance transitions $e + N \rightarrow e' + M + N^\ast$, such as deeply-virtual Compton scattering ($M = γがんま$) or meson production ($M = πぱい, K$, $etc.$), and in related photon/hadron-induced processes. This White Paper describes a research program aiming to explore baryon resonance structure with transition GPDs. This includes the properties and interpretation of the transition GPDs, theoretical methods for structures and processes, first experimental results from JLab 12 GeV, future measurements with existing and planned facilities (JLab detector and energy upgrades, COMPASS/AMBER, EIC, EicC, J-PARC, LHC ultraperihperal collisions), and the theoretical and experimental developments needed to realize this program. △ Less

First Results on Nucleon Resonance Electroexcitation Amplitudes from $ep\to e'πぱい^+πぱい^-p'$ Cross Sections at $W$ from 1.4-1.7 GeV and $Q^2$ from 2.0-5.0 GeV$^2$

Abstract: The electroexcitation amplitudes or $γがんま_vpN^*$ electrocouplings of the $N(1440)1/2^+$, $N(1520)3/2^-$, and $Δでるた(1600)3/2^+$ resonances were obtained for the first time from the $ep \to e'πぱい^+πぱい^-p'$ differential cross sections measured with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab within the range of invariant mass $W$ of the final state hadrons from 1.4--1.7 GeV for photon virtualities $Q^2$ from 2.0--5.0 G… ▽ More The electroexcitation amplitudes or $γがんま_vpN^*$ electrocouplings of the $N(1440)1/2^+$, $N(1520)3/2^-$, and $Δでるた(1600)3/2^+$ resonances were obtained for the first time from the $ep \to e'πぱい^+πぱい^-p'$ differential cross sections measured with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab within the range of invariant mass $W$ of the final state hadrons from 1.4--1.7 GeV for photon virtualities $Q^2$ from 2.0--5.0 GeV$^2$. The electrocouplings were determined in independent fits of the $πぱい^+πぱい^-p$ cross sections within three overlapping $W$ intervals with a substantial contribution from each of the three resonances listed above. Consistent results on the electrocouplings extracted from the data in these $W$ intervals provide evidence for their reliable extraction. These studies extend information on the electrocouplings of the $N(1440)1/2^+$ and $N(1520)3/2^-$ available from this channel over a broader range of $Q^2$. The electrocouplings of the $Δでるた(1600)3/2^+$, which decays preferentially into $πぱいπぱいN$ final states, have been determined for the first time. Our results provide further evidence for the structure of these resonances in terms of an interplay between the inner core of three dressed quarks and an external meson-baryon cloud. △ Less

First Simultaneous Determination of Inclusive and Exclusive $\left|V_{ub}\right|$

This allows for the reconstruction of the hadronic $X_u$ system of the semileptonic $b \to u \ell \bar νにゅー_\ell$ decay. We separate exclusive $B \to πぱい\, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ decays from other inclusive $B \to X_u \, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ and backgrounds with a two-dimensional fit, that utilizes the number of charged pions in the $X_u$ system and the four-momentum transfer $q^2$ between the $B$ and $X_u$ system. Combining our measurement with information from lattice QCD and QCD calculations of the inclusive partial rate as well as external experimental information on the shape of the $B \to πぱい\, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ form factor, we determine $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| = (3.78 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.14)\times 10^{-3}$ and $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = (3.88 \pm 0.20 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-3}$, respectively, with the uncertainties being the statistical error, systematic errors, and theory errors. The ratio of $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| / \left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = 0.97 \pm 0.12$ is compatible with unity. △ Less

Measurement of Differential Distributions of $B \to D^* \ell \bar νにゅー_\ell$ and Implications on $|V_{cb}|$

We also perform a study of the impact of preliminary beyond zero-recoil lattice QCD calculations on the $|V_{cb}|$ determinations. Additionally, we present the lepton flavor universality ratio $R_{eμみゅー} = \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* e \barνにゅー_e) / \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* μみゅー\barνにゅー_μみゅー) = 0.990 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.023$, the electron and muon forward-backward asymmetry and their difference $ΔでるたA_{FB}=0.022\pm0.026\pm 0.007$, and the electron and muon $D^*$ longitudinal polarization fraction and their difference $ΔでるたF_L^{D^*} = 0.034 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.007$. Abstract: We study the processes $e^+e^-\toωおめがχかい_{bJ}(1P)$ ($J$ = 0, 1, or 2) using samples at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.701, 10.745, and 10.805 GeV, corresponding to 1.6, 9.8, and 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, respectively. These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observatio… ▽ More We study the processes $e^+e^-\toωおめがχかい_{bJ}(1P)$ ($J$ = 0, 1, or 2) using samples at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.701, 10.745, and 10.805 GeV, corresponding to 1.6, 9.8, and 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, respectively. These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observation of $ωおめがχかい_{bJ}(1P)$ signals at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.745 GeV. By combining Belle II data with Belle results at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.867 GeV, we find energy dependencies of the Born cross sections for $e^+e^-\to ωおめがχかい_{b1,b2}(1P)$ to be consistent with the shape of the $Υうぷしろん(10753)$ state. These data indicate that the internal structures of the $Υうぷしろん(10753)$ and $Υうぷしろん(10860)$ states may differ. Including data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.653 GeV, we also search for the bottomonium equivalent of the $X(3872)$ state decaying into $ωおめがΥうぷしろん(1S)$. No significant signal is observed for masses between 10.45 and 10.65 GeV/$c^2$. △ Less

Abstract: We report a study of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0$, $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた$, and $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'$ using the data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The branching fractions relative to $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0$ are measured as:… ▽ More We report a study of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0$, $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた$, and $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'$ using the data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The branching fractions relative to $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0$ are measured as: $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた}/\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}=0.25 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}=0.33 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.02$. Using $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}=(1.25 \pm 0.10)\%$, we obtain $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた}=(3.14 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.25)\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'}=(4.16 \pm 0.75 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.33)\times10^{-3}$. Here the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0}$, respectively. The ratio of the branching fraction of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'$ with respect to that of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'}/\mathcal{B}_{Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた}=1.34 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.06$. We update the asymmetry parameter of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0$, $αあるふぁ_{Σしぐま^+ πぱい^0} = -0.48 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.02$, with a considerably improved precision. The asymmetry parameters of $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた$ and $Λらむだ_c^+ \to Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'$ are measured to be $αあるふぁ_{Σしぐま^+ ηいーた} = -0.99 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.05$ and $αあるふぁ_{Σしぐま^+ ηいーた'} = -0.46 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.03$ for the first time. △ Less

Search for $e\toτたう$ Charged Lepton Flavor Violation at the EIC with the ECCE Detector

Abstract: The recently approved Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) will provide a unique new opportunity for searches of charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) and other new physics scenarios. In contrast to the $e \leftrightarrow μみゅー$ CLFV transition for which very stringent limits exist, there is still a relatively large discovery space for the $e \to τたう$ CLFV transition, potentially to be explored by the EIC. Abstract: We report on a Belle II measurement of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$), longitudinal polarization fraction ($f_L$), and CP asymmetry ($\mathcal{A}_{CP}$) of $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance an… ▽ More We report on a Belle II measurement of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$), longitudinal polarization fraction ($f_L$), and CP asymmetry ($\mathcal{A}_{CP}$) of $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρろー^+(\to πぱい^+πぱい^0(\to γがんまγがんま))ρろー^0(\to πぱい^+πぱい^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υうぷしろん$(4S) resonance and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. The results agree with previous measurements. This is the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ in $B^+\to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ decays reported by Belle II. △ Less

The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{0} πぱい^{+} \bar{p}) = (1.09 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.07)\times10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{++} πぱい^{-} \bar{p}) = (1.84\pm 0.11 \pm 0.12)\times 10^{-4}$, which are consistent with the world average values with improved precision. A new structure is found in the $M_{Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{0,++}πぱい^{\pm}}$ spectrum with a significance of $4.2σしぐま$ including systematic uncertainty. The structure is possibly an excited $Λらむだ_{c}^{+}$ and is tentatively named $Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+}$. Its mass and width are measured to be $(2913.8 \pm 5.6 \pm 3.8)$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $(51.8\pm20.0 \pm 18.8)$ MeV, respectively. The products of branching fractions for the $Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+}$ are measured to be ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times{\cal B}(Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{0}πぱい^{+}) = (9.5 \pm 3.6 \pm 1.6)\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to Λらむだ_{c} (2910)^{+}\bar{p})\times {\cal B}(Λらむだ_{c}(2910)^{+} \to Σしぐま_{c}(2455)^{++}πぱい^{-}) = (1.24 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.10)\times 10^{-5}$. First Measurement of the $Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ηいーた'$ decay

Abstract: We search for a light Higgs boson ($A^0$) decaying into a $τたう^+τたう^-$ or $μみゅー^+μみゅー^-$ pair in the radiative decays of $Υうぷしろん(1S)$. No significant $A^0$ signals in the mass range from the $τたう^+τたう^-$ or… ▽ More We search for a light Higgs boson ($A^0$) decaying into a $τたう^+τたう^-$ or $μみゅー^+μみゅー^-$ pair in the radiative decays of $Υうぷしろん(1S)$. Our results represent an approximately twofold improvement on the current world best upper limits for the $Υうぷしろん(1S)\to γがんまA^0(\to τたう^+τたう^-)$ production. For $A^0\to μみゅー^+μみゅー^-$, the upper limits on the product branching fractions for $Υうぷしろん(1S)\to γがんまA^0$ and $A^0\to μみゅー^+μみゅー^-$ are at the same level as the world average limits, and vary from $3.1\times10^{-7}$ to $1.6\times10^{-5}$. The upper limits at 90\% C.L. on the Yukawa coupling $f_{Υうぷしろん(1S)}$ and mixing angle ${\rm sin}θしーた_{A^0}$ are also given. △ Less

Taking into account the branching fraction of the normalization mode, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to ΛらむだK_S^0) = (3.27\pm0.11\pm0.17\pm0.73) \times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Σしぐま^0 K_S^0) = (0.54\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.12) \times 10^{-3}$, and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Σしぐま^+ K^-) = (1.76\pm 0.10\pm0.14\pm 0.39) \times 10^{-3}$. Abstract: This letter presents a search for the rare flavor-changing neutral current process $B^{0}\rightarrow K^{\ast 0}τたう^{+}τたう^{-}$ using data taken with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The analysis is based on the entire $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance data sample of 711 $\rm fb^{-1}$, corresponding to $772\times 10^{6} B \bar{B}$ pairs. No evidence for a signal is found. We report an upper limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}({B^{0}\rightarrow K^{\ast 0}τたう^{+}τたう^{-}})<3.1\times 10^{-3}$ at 90\% confidence level. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression variable, dipion masses, and angular distributions of the resulting samples, to determine a signal yield of $104\pm16$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = [20.6 \pm 3.2(\rm stat) \pm 4.0(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, and $f_L(B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0) = 0.936 ^{+0.049}_{-0.041}(\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$. This first Belle II $B^+ \to ρろー^+ρろー^0$ angular analysis yields results compatible with previous determinations, and indicates Belle II performance superior to early Belle results. △ Less

We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔでるたE$ and $M_{\rm bc}$ distributions of the resulting samples are fit to determine signal yields of approximately 690, 840, and 380 decays for the channels $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, $B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+$, and $B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0$, respectively. These yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = [35.8 \pm 1.6(\rm stat) \pm 1.4 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = [67.0 \pm 3.3 (\rm stat)\pm 2.3 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = [38.1 \pm 3.5 (\rm stat)\pm 3.9 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+) = -0.103 \pm 0.042(\rm stat) \pm 0.020 (\rm syst)$, $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^+ \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^+) = -0.010 \pm 0.050 (\rm stat)\pm 0.021(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{\rm CP}(B^0 \to K^+πぱい^-πぱい^0) = 0.207 \pm 0.088 (\rm stat)\pm 0.011(\rm syst)$. The moments are measured with progressively increasing threshold selections on $q^2$ starting with a lower value of 3.0 $\mathrm{GeV}^2$ in steps of 0.5 $\mathrm{GeV}^2$ up to a value of 10.0 $\mathrm{GeV}^2$. The measured moments are further unfolded, correcting for reconstruction and selection effects as well as QED final state radiation. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $62.8$ $\text{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We reconstruct and select about $50$ $B^0 \to K_S^0 πぱい^0$ candidates, and we measure $\mathcal{A}_{K^0πぱい^0} = -0.40_{-0.44}^{+0.46} (\text{stat}) \pm 0.04 (\text{syst})$ and $\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to K^0 πぱい^0) = [8.5_{-1.6}^{+1.7} (\text{stat}) \pm 1.2 (\text{syst})] \times 10^{-6}$. This is the first measurement of $CP$ violation in $B^0 \to K^0πぱい^0$ decays reported by Belle II. The branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0} \to Ξくしー^{-} e^{+} νにゅー_{e})=(1.31 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.38)\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0} \to Ξくしー^{-} μみゅー^{+} νにゅー_μみゅー)=(1.27 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.37)\%$, and the decay parameter $αあるふぁ_{Ξくしーπぱい}$ is measured to be $0.63 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ with much improved precision compared to the current world average. The corresponding ratio ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0} \to Ξくしー^{-} e^{+} νにゅー_{e})/{\cal B}(Ξくしー_{c}^{0} \to Ξくしー^{-} μみゅー^{+} νにゅー_μみゅー)$ is $1.03 \pm 0.05\pm 0.07$, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter ${\cal A}_{CP} = (αあるふぁ_{Ξくしー^{-}πぱい^{+}} + αあるふぁ_{\barΞくしー^{+}πぱい^{-}})/(αあるふぁ_{Ξくしー^{-}πぱい^{+}} - αあるふぁ_{\barΞくしー^{+}πぱい^{-}}) = 0.024 \pm 0.052 \pm 0.014$ is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the $Ξくしー_{c}^{0} \to Ξくしー^{-} πぱい^+$ branching fraction. △ Less

The EIC will be a powerful new high-luminosity facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to those regions in the nucleon… ▽ More This report describes the physics case, the resulting detector requirements, and the evolving detector concepts for the experimental program at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). The EIC will be a powerful new high-luminosity facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to those regions in the nucleon and nuclei where their structure is dominated by gluons. Moreover, polarized beams in the EIC will give unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of the proton, neutron, and light ions. The studies leading to this document were commissioned and organized by the EIC User Group with the objective of advancing the state and detail of the physics program and developing detector concepts that meet the emerging requirements in preparation for the realization of the EIC. The effort aims to provide the basis for further development of concepts for experimental equipment best suited for the science needs, including the importance of two complementary detectors and interaction regions. This report consists of three volumes. Volume I is an executive summary of our findings and developed concepts. In Volume II we describe studies of a wide range of physics measurements and the emerging requirements on detector acceptance and performance. Volume III discusses general-purpose detector concepts and the underlying technologies to meet the physics requirements. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. The signal yield of the $Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ηいーた$ process is $7734 \pm 263$; from this, we measure the ratio of branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ηいーた)/{\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+) = (2.258 \pm 0. 077(\rm stat. ) \pm 0.136(\rm syst. ))\times 10^{-2}$, from which we infer the branching fraction ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p ηいーた) = (1.42 \pm 0.05(\rm stat.) \pm 0.11(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-3}$. In addition, no significant signal for $Λらむだ_c^+ \to p πぱい^0$ is found so an upper limit on the branching fraction of ${\cal B}(Λらむだ_c^+ \to p πぱい^0)<8.0 \times 10^{-5}$ at 90\% credibility level is set, more than three times better than the best current upper limit. △ Less

For $B^+ \to φふぁいφふぁいK^+$, the branching fraction and $CP$-violation asymmetry measured below the $ηいーた_{c}$ threshold ($m_{φふぁいφふぁい}<2.85\,{\rm GeV}/c^2$) are $[3.43^{\,+\,0.48}_{\,-\,0.46}({\rm stat})\pm 0.22({\rm syst})] \times10^{-6}$ and $-0.02\pm0.11({\rm stat})\pm0.01({\rm syst})$, respectively. Similarly, the branching fraction obtained for $B^0 \toφふぁいφふぁいK^0$ below the $ηいーた_{c}$ threshold is $[3.02^{\,+\,0.75}_{\,-\,0.66} ({\rm stat})\pm \,0.20({\rm syst})]\times10^{-6}$. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $ΔでるたE$ distributions of the resulting samples, restricted in $M_{\rm bc}$, are fit to determine signal yields. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. These are the first measurements in charmless decays reported by Belle~II. Results are compatible with known determinations and show detector performance comparable with the best Belle results offering a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach. △ Less

Strange Hadron Spectroscopy with Secondary KL Beam in Hall D

The superior CEBAF electron beam will enable a flux on the order of $1\times 10^4~K_L/sec$, which exceeds the flux of that previously attained at SLAC by three orders of magnitude. The use of a deuteron target will provide first measurements ever with neutral kaons on neutrons. The experiment will measure both differential cross sections and self-analyzed polarizations of the produced $Λらむだ$, $Σしぐま$, $Ξくしー$, and $Ωおめが$ hyperons using the GlueX detector at the Jefferson Lab Hall D. The measurements will span CM $\cosθしーた$ from $-0.95$ to 0.95 in the range W = 1490 MeV to 2500 MeV. The new data will significantly constrain the partial wave analyses and reduce model-dependent uncertainties in the extraction of the properties and pole positions of the strange hyperon resonances, and establish the orbitally excited multiplets in the spectra of the $Ξくしー$ and $Ωおめが$ hyperons. Comparison with the corresponding multiplets in the spectra of the charm and bottom hyperons will provide insight into he accuracy of QCD-based calculations over a large range of masses. The proposed facility will have a defining impact in the strange meson sector through measurements of the final state $Kπぱい$ system up to 2 GeV invariant mass. This will allow the determination of pole positions and widths of all relevant $K^\ast(Kπぱい)$ $S$-,$P$-,$D$-,$F$-, and $G$-wave resonances, settle the question of the existence or nonexistence of scalar meson $κかっぱ/K_0^\ast(700)$ and improve the constrains on their pole parameters. In the context of the hadronic physics program at Jefferson Lab (JLab), positron beams are complementary, even essential, tools for a precise understanding of the electromagnetic structure of nucleons and nuclei, in both the elastic and deep-inelastic regimes. For instance, elastic scattering of polarized and unpolarized electrons and positrons from the nucleon enables a model independent determination of its electromagnetic form factors. Also, the deeply-virtual scattering of polarized and unpolarized electrons and positrons allows unambiguous separation of the different contributions to the cross section of the lepto-production of photons and of lepton-pairs, enabling an accurate determination of the nucleons and nuclei generalized parton distributions, and providing an access to the gravitational form factors. Furthermore, positron beams offer the possibility of alternative tests of the Standard Model of particle physics through the search of a dark photon, the precise measurement of electroweak couplings, and the investigation of charged lepton flavor violation. Abstract: Studies of the spectrum of hadrons and their structure in experiments with electromagnetic probes offer unique insight into many facets of the strong interaction in the regime of large quark-gluon running coupling, {\it i.e.} the regime of strong QCD. The experimental program within Hall~B at Jefferson Laboratory based on data acquired with the CLAS spectrometer using electron and photon beams wit… ▽ More Studies of the spectrum of hadrons and their structure in experiments with electromagnetic probes offer unique insight into many facets of the strong interaction in the regime of large quark-gluon running coupling, {\it i.e.} the regime of strong QCD. The experimental program within Hall~B at Jefferson Laboratory based on data acquired with the CLAS spectrometer using electron and photon beams with energies up to 6~GeV has already considerably extended the scope of research in hadron physics in joint efforts between experiment and phenomenological data analysis. Impressive progress in relating the hadron structure observables inferred from the data to the strong QCD mechanisms underlying hadron mass generation has been achieved in the past decade. These results will be considerably extended with data from the experimental program with the new CLAS12 spectrometer that has begun data taking using electron beams with energies up to 11~GeV. With this extended kinematic reach the structure of nucleon resonances will be probed at the highest photon virtualities ever achieved in the studies of exclusive electroproduction, which will allow for the exploration of the distance scale where $>$98\% of light hadron mass emerges from QCD in the transition of the strong interaction from the regime of quark-gluon confinement to perturbative QCD. △ Less

Evidence for the $N'(1720)3/2^+$ Nucleon Resonance from Combined Studies of CLAS $πぱい^+πぱい^-p$ Photo- and Electroproduction Data

Abstract: The analysis of the nine 1-fold differential cross sections for the $γがんま_{r,v} p \to πぱい^+πぱい^-p$ photo- and electroproduction reactions obtained with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Laboratory was carried out with the goal to establish the contributing resonances in the mass range from 1.6~GeV to 1.8~GeV. In order to describe the photo- and electroproduction data with $Q^2$-independent resonance masses… ▽ More The analysis of the nine 1-fold differential cross sections for the $γがんま_{r,v} p \to πぱい^+πぱい^-p$ photo- and electroproduction reactions obtained with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Laboratory was carried out with the goal to establish the contributing resonances in the mass range from 1.6~GeV to 1.8~GeV. In order to describe the photo- and electroproduction data with $Q^2$-independent resonance masses and hadronic decay widths in the $Q^2$ range below 1.5~GeV$^2$, it was found that an $N'(1720)3/2^+$ state is required in addition to the already well-established nucleon resonances. This work demonstrates that the combined studies of $πぱい^+πぱい^-p$ photo- and electroproduction data are vital for the observation of this resonance. The contributions from the $N'(1720)3/2^+$ state and the already established $N(1720)3/2^+$ state with a mass of 1.745~GeV are well separated by their different hadronic decays to the $πぱいΔでるた$ and $ρろーp$ final states and the different $Q^2$-evolution of their photo-/electroexcitation amplitudes. The $N'(1720)3/2^+$ state is the first recently established baryon resonance for which the results on the $Q^2$-evolution of the photo-/electrocouplings have become available. These results are important for the exploration of the nature of the ``missing'' baryon resonances. △ Less

Abstract: We report the measurement of $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$ via initial-state radiation using a data sample of an integrated luminosity of 921.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ and nearby. We find evidence for an enhancement with a 3.4$σしぐま$ significance in the invariant mass of $D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^- +c.c.$ The measured mass and width are… ▽ More We report the measurement of $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$ via initial-state radiation using a data sample of an integrated luminosity of 921.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ and nearby. We find evidence for an enhancement with a 3.4$σしぐま$ significance in the invariant mass of $D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^- +c.c.$ The measured mass and width are $(4619.8^{+8.9}_{-8.0}({\rm stat.})\pm2.3({\rm syst.}))~{\rm MeV}/c^{2}$ and $(47.0^{+31.3}_{-14.8}({\rm stat.})\pm4.6({\rm syst.}))~{\rm MeV}$, respectively. The mass, width, and quantum numbers of this enhancement are consistent with the charmonium-like state at 4626 MeV/$c^2$ recently reported by Belle in $e^+e^-\to D^+_sD_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c.$ The product of the $e^+e^-\to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.$ cross section and the branching fraction of $D^*_{s2}(2573)^-\to{\bar D}^0K^-$ is measured from $D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ threshold to 5.6 GeV. △ Less

The signal yields for these decays are extract… ▽ More Using the data sample of 711 fb$^{-1}$ of $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ on-resonance data taken by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider, we present the first measurements of branching fractions of the decays $B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{'0}$, $B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}(2645)^{0}$, and $B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}(2790)^{0} $. The signal yields for these decays are extracted from the recoil mass spectrum of the system recoiling against $\barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}$ baryons in selected $B^-$ candidates. The branching fraction of $B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}(2790)^{0}$ is measured to be $ (1.1 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The 90\% credibility level upper limits on ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{'0})$ and ${\cal B}(B^{-} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}(2645)^{0})$ are determined to be $6.5\times 10^{-4}$ and $7.9\times 10^{-4}$, respectively. △ Less

Observation of a vector charmoniumlike state in $e^+e^- \to D^+_sD_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c.$

We then measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^+){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+)$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^+){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+)$. Dividing these product branching fractions by $\bar{B}^{0} \to \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-} Ξくしー_{c}^{+}$ yields: ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+) = [2.86 \pm 1.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.38(\rm syst.)]\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to p K^- πぱい^+)=[0.45 \pm 0.21(\rm stat.) \pm 0.07(\rm syst.)]\%$. Our result for ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+)$ can be combined with $Ξくしー_c^+$ branching fractions measured relative to $Ξくしー_c^+ \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+ πぱい^+$ to set the absolute scale for many $Ξくしー_c^+$ branching fractions. △ Less

We subsequently measure the product branching fractions ${\cal B}(B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0){\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+)$, ${\cal B}( B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0) {\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to ΛらむだK^- πぱい^+)$, and ${\cal B}( B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0) {\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to p K^- K^- πぱい^+)$ with improved precision. Dividing these product branching fractions by the result for $B^- \to \barΛらむだ_c^- Ξくしー_c^0$ yields the following branching fractions: ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+)= (1.80 \pm 0.50 \pm 0.14)\%$, ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to ΛらむだK^- πぱい^+)=(1.17 \pm 0.37 \pm 0.09)\%$, and ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to p K^- K^- πぱい^+)=(0.58 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.05)\%.$ For the above branching fractions, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Our result for ${\cal B}(Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+)$ can be combined with $Ξくしー_c^0$ branching fractions measured relative to $Ξくしー_c^0 \to Ξくしー^- πぱい^+$ to yield other absolute $Ξくしー_c^0$ branching fractions. △ Less

Using a sum-of-exclusive technique with invariant $X_s$ mass up to 2.8~GeV/$c^2$, we obtain $Δでるた_{0-} = \bigl[-0.48 \pm 1.49 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.97 {\rm (syst.)} \pm 1.15 {(f_{+-}/f_{00})}\bigr]$\% and $ΔでるたA_{CP} = \bigl[+3.69 \pm 2.65 {\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.76{\rm (syst.)}\bigr]$\%, where the last uncertainty for $Δでるた_{0-}$ is due to the uncertainty on the production ratio of $B^+B^-$ to $B^0\bar{B}^0$ in $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ decays. The measured value of $Δでるた_{0-}$ is consistent with zero, allowing us to constrain the resolved photon contribution in the $B \to X_s γがんま$, and improve the branching fraction prediction. The result for $ΔでるたA_{CP}$ is consistent with the prediction of the SM. We also measure the direct $CP$ asymmetries for charged and neutral $B \to X_s γがんま$ decays. We also measure $\cal{B}(\bar{B}^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} Λらむだ_{c}^{+} \barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}) = [3.99 \pm 0.76(\rm stat.) \pm 0.51(\rm syst.)] \times 10^{-4}$ with greater precision than previous experiments, and present the results of a search for the charmonium-like state $Y(4660)$ and its spin partner, $Y_ηいーた$, in the $Λらむだ_{c}^{+}\barΛらむだ_{c}^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum. No clear signals of the $Y(4660)$ or $Y_ηいーた$ are observed and the 90\% credibility level (C.L.) upper limits on their production rates are determined. Abstract: Exclusive photoproduction cross sections have been measured for the process $γがんまp \rightarrow pπぱい^0(e^+e^-(γがんま))$ with the Dalitz decay final state using tagged photon energies in the range of $E_γがんま = 1.275-5.425$ GeV. The complete angular distribution of the final state $πぱい^0$, for the entire photon energy range up to large values of $t$ and $u$, has been measured for the first time. The data obtained show that the cross section $dσしぐま/dt$, at mid to large angles, decreases with energy as $s^{-6.89\pm 0.26} $. This is in agreement with the perturbative QCD quark counting rule prediction of $s^{-7} $. Paradoxically, the size of angular distribution of measured cross sections is greatly underestimated by the QCD based Generalized Parton Distribution mechanism at highest available invariant energy $s=11$ GeV$^2$. At the same time, the Regge exchange based models for $πぱい^0$ photoproduction are more consistent with experimental data. △ Less
