We present a study of $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}π^{0}$, $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}η$, and $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}η^{\prime}$ decays using the Belle and Belle~II data samples, which have integrated luminosities of 980~$\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ and 426~$\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, respectively. We measure the following relative branching fractions $${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}π^{0})/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+}) = 0.48 \pm 0.02 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.03 ({\rm syst}) ,$$ $${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}η)/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+}) = 0.11 \pm 0.01 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.01 ({\rm syst}) ,$$ $${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}η^{\prime})/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+}) = 0.08 \pm 0.02 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.01 ({\rm syst}) $$ for the first time, where the uncertainties are statistical ($\rm stat$) and systematic ($\rm syst$). By multiplying by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, ${\mathcal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+})$, we obtain the following absolute branching fraction results $(6.9 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.5 ({\rm syst}) \pm 1.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, $(1.6 \pm 0.2 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, and $(1.2 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.1 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, for $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ decays to $Ξ^{0}π^{0}$, $Ξ^{0}η$, and $Ξ^{0}η^{\prime}$ final states, respectively. The third errors are from the uncertainty on ${\mathcal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+})$. The asymmetry parameter for $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}π^{0}$ is measured to be $α(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}π^{0}) = -0.90\pm0.15({\rm stat})\pm0.23({\rm syst})$.

Among the various candidates for dark matter (DM), ultralight vector DM can be probed by laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors through the measurement of oscillating length changes in the arm cavities. In this context, KAGRA has a unique feature due to differing compositions of its mirrors, enhancing the signal of vector DM in the length change in the auxiliary channels. Here we present the result of a search for $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson DM using the KAGRA data from auxiliary length channels during the first joint observation run together with GEO600. By applying our search pipeline, which takes into account the stochastic nature of ultralight DM, upper bounds on the coupling strength between the $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson and ordinary matter are obtained for a range of DM masses. While our constraints are less stringent than those derived from previous experiments, this study demonstrates the applicability of our method to the lower-mass vector DM search, which is made difficult in this measurement by the short observation time compared to the auto-correlation time scale of DM.

The first simultaneous determination of the absolute value of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $V_{ub}$ using inclusive and exclusive decays is performed with the full Belle data set at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711 fb${}^{-1}$. We analyze collision events in which one $B$ meson is fully reconstructed in hadronic modes. This allows for the reconstruction of the hadronic $X_u$ system of the semileptonic $b \to u \ell \bar ν_\ell$ decay. We separate exclusive $B \to π\, \ell\, \bar ν_{\ell}$ decays from other inclusive $B \to X_u \, \ell\, \bar ν_{\ell}$ and backgrounds with a two-dimensional fit, that utilizes the number of charged pions in the $X_u$ system and the four-momentum transfer $q^2$ between the $B$ and $X_u$ system. Combining our measurement with information from lattice QCD and QCD calculations of the inclusive partial rate as well as external experimental information on the shape of the $B \to π\, \ell\, \bar ν_{\ell}$ form factor, we determine $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| = (3.78 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.14)\times 10^{-3}$ and $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = (3.88 \pm 0.20 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-3}$, respectively, with the uncertainties being the statistical error, systematic errors, and theory errors. The ratio of $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| / \left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = 0.97 \pm 0.12$ is compatible with unity.

These data were collected with the Belle II detector during special operations of the SuperKEKB collider above the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. We report the first observation of $ωχ_{bJ}(1P)$ signals at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.745 GeV. By combining Belle II data with Belle results at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.867 GeV, we find energy dependencies of the Born cross sections for $e^+e^-\to ωχ_{b1,b2}(1P)$ to be consistent with the shape of the $Υ(10753)$ state. These data indicate that the internal structures of the $Υ(10753)$ and $Υ(10860)$ states may differ. Including data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 10.653 GeV, we also search for the bottomonium equivalent of the $X(3872)$ state decaying into $ωΥ(1S)$. No significant signal is observed for masses between 10.45 and 10.65 GeV/$c^2$.

Belle II is an experiment operating at the intensity frontier. Over the next decades, it will record the decay of billions of bottom mesons, charm hadrons, and tau leptons produced in 10 GeV electron-positron collisions at the SuperKEKB high-luminosity collider at KEK. These data, collected in low-background and kinematically known conditions, will allow us to measure hundreds of parameters that test the standard model (SM) and probe for the existence of new particles, at mass scales orders of magnitudes higher than those studied at the energy frontier. We project our sensitivities for measurements that are of primary relevance and where Belle II will be unique or world leading for data corresponding to 1 to 50 ab$^{-1}$. Belle II will uniquely probe non-SM contributions in sensitive $b \to q\bar q s$ decays and charmless $b \to q\bar q d(u)$ decays, semileptonic $b \to s ν\barν$ and $s τ^+ τ^-$ decays, fully leptonic $b \to \ell ν$ decays, and select $c \to u$ processes. Belle II will lead exploration of non-SM physics in $b \to c τν$ and $b \to s γ$ decays and will most precisely determine the quark-mixing parameters $|V_{ub}|$ and $|V_{cb}|$. Belle II will measure many parameters in $τ$ physics to precisions that will be world leading for the foreseeable future, including the electric and magnetic dipole moments, branching fractions for charged-lepton-flavor-violating decays, and quantities that test lepton-flavor universality. Belle II will perform unique searches for dark-sector particles with masses in the MeV-GeV range. We will also pursue a broad spectroscopy program for conventional and multiquark $c \bar c$ and $b \bar b$ states and provide essential inputs to sharpen the interpretation of muon magnetic-anomaly results. Our exploration of uncharted regions of non-SM parameter space with high precision will reveal non-SM particles or set stringent constraints on their existence, guiding future endeavors.

We report on a Belle II measurement of the branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$), longitudinal polarization fraction ($f_L$), and CP asymmetry ($\mathcal{A}_{CP}$) of $B^+\to ρ^+ρ^0$ decays. We reconstruct $B^+\to ρ^+(\to π^+π^0(\to γγ))ρ^0(\to π^+π^-)$ decays in a sample of SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions collected by the Belle II experiment in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at the $Υ$(4S) resonance and corresponding to 190 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ candidate energy, continuum-suppression discriminant, dipion masses, and decay angles of the selected samples, to determine a signal yield of $345 \pm 31$ events. The signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain $\mathcal{B}(B^+ \to ρ^+ρ^0) = [23.2^{+\ 2.2}_{-\ 2.1} (\rm stat) \pm 2.7 (\rm syst)]\times 10^{-6}$, $f_L = 0.943 ^{+\ 0.035}_{-\ 0.033} (\rm stat)\pm 0.027(\rm syst)$, and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}=-0.069 \pm 0.068(\rm stat) \pm 0.060 (\rm syst)$. The results agree with previous measurements. This is the first measurement of $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ in $B^+\to ρ^+ρ^0$ decays reported by Belle II.

We present the first measurement of the branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) decay $Λ_c^+ \to p η'$ with $η' \to ηπ^+π^-$, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 981 $\rm fb^{-1}$, collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. A significant $Λ_c^+$ signal is observed for the first time with a signal significance of 5.4$σ$. The relative branching fraction with respect to the normalization mode $Λ_c^+ \to pK^-π^+$ is measured to be
\begin{equation*}
\frac{{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η')}{{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^-π^+)} = (7.54 \pm 1.32 \pm 0.75) \times 10^{-3},
\end{equation*}
where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the world-average value of ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^-π^+) = (6.28\pm0.32)\times10^{-2}$, we obtain
\begin{equation*}
{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η') = (4.73 \pm 0.82 \pm 0.47 \pm 0.24)\times 10^{-4},

The production of $Υ(1S)$ mesons is tagged by $Υ(2S)\to π^+ π^- Υ(1S)$ transitions, using 158 million $Υ(2S)$ events accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant $A^0$ signals in the mass range from the $τ^+τ^-$ or $μ^+μ^-$ threshold to 9.2 GeV/$c^2$ are observed. We set the upper limits at 90\% credibility level (C.L.) on the product branching fractions for $Υ(1S)\to γA^0$ and $A^0\to τ^+τ^-$ varying from $3.8\times10^{-6}$ to $1.5\times10^{-4}$. Our results represent an approximately twofold improvement on the current world best upper limits for the $Υ(1S)\to γA^0(\to τ^+τ^-)$ production. For $A^0\to μ^+μ^-$, the upper limits on the product branching fractions for $Υ(1S)\to γA^0$ and $A^0\to μ^+μ^-$ are at the same level as the world average limits, and vary from $3.1\times10^{-7}$ to $1.6\times10^{-5}$. The upper limits at 90\% C.L. on the Yukawa coupling $f_{Υ(1S)}$ and mixing angle ${\rm sin}θ_{A^0}$ are also given.

Taking the decay $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- \pip$ as the normalization mode, we measure the branching fraction ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.229\pm0.008\pm0.012$ with improved precision, and measure the branching fraction ratios ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.038\pm0.006\pm0.004$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-)/{\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+) = 0.123\pm0.007\pm0.010$ for the first time. Taking into account the branching fraction of the normalization mode, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to ΛK_S^0) = (3.27\pm0.11\pm0.17\pm0.73) \times 10^{-3}$, ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^0 K_S^0) = (0.54\pm 0.09\pm 0.06\pm 0.12) \times 10^{-3}$, and ${\cal B}(Ξ_c^0 \to Σ^+ K^-) = (1.76\pm 0.10\pm0.14\pm 0.39) \times 10^{-3}$. The first and second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty of the branching fraction of $Ξ_c^0 \to Ξ^- π^+$.

We present a search for dark photon dark matter that could couple to gravitational-wave interferometers using data from Advanced LIGO and Virgo's third observing run. To perform this analysis, we use two methods, one based on cross-correlation of the strain channels in the two nearly aligned LIGO detectors, and one that looks for excess power in the strain channels of the LIGO and Virgo detectors. The excess power method optimizes the Fourier Transform coherence time as a function of frequency, to account for the expected signal width due to Doppler modulations. We do not find any evidence of dark photon dark matter with a mass between $m_{\rm A} \sim 10^{-14}-10^{-11}$ eV/$c^2$, which corresponds to frequencies between 10-2000 Hz, and therefore provide upper limits on the square of the minimum coupling of dark photons to baryons, i.e. $U(1)_{\rm B}$ dark matter. For the cross-correlation method, the best median constraint on the squared coupling is $\sim2.65\times10^{-46}$ at $m_{\rm A}\sim4.31\times10^{-13}$ eV/$c^2$; for the other analysis, the best constraint is $\sim 2.4\times 10^{-47}$ at $m_{\rm A}\sim 5.7\times 10^{-13}$ eV/$c^2$. These limits improve upon those obtained in direct dark matter detection experiments by a factor of $\sim100$ for $m_{\rm A}\sim [2-4]\times 10^{-13}$ eV/$c^2$, and are, in absolute terms, the most stringent constraint so far in a large mass range $m_A\sim$ $2\times 10^{-13}-8\times 10^{-12}$ eV/$c^2$.

The branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})=(1.31 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.38)\%$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)=(1.27 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.37)\%$, and the decay parameter $α_{Ξπ}$ is measured to be $0.63 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.01$ with much improved precision compared to the current world average. The corresponding ratio ${\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} e^{+} ν_{e})/{\cal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} μ^{+} ν_μ)$ is $1.03 \pm 0.05\pm 0.07$, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter ${\cal A}_{CP} = (α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}} + α_{\barΞ^{+}π^{-}})/(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}} - α_{\barΞ^{+}π^{-}}) = 0.024 \pm 0.052 \pm 0.014$ is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the $Ξ_{c}^{0} \to Ξ^{-} π^+$ branching fraction.

We report measurements of the branching fractions of singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $Λ_c^+ \to p η$ and $Λ_c^+ \to p π^0$ using the full Belle data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 980.6 $\rm fb^{-1}$. The data were collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}$$e^{-}$ asymmetric-energy collider. A clear $Λ_c^+$ signal is seen in the invariant mass distribution of $p η$. The signal yield of the $Λ_c^+ \to p η$ process is $7734 \pm 263$; from this, we measure the ratio of branching fractions ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η)/{\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p K^- π^+) = (2.258 \pm 0. 077(\rm stat. ) \pm 0.136(\rm syst. ))\times 10^{-2}$, from which we infer the branching fraction ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p η) = (1.42 \pm 0.05(\rm stat.) \pm 0.11(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-3}$. In addition, no significant signal for $Λ_c^+ \to p π^0$ is found so an upper limit on the branching fraction of ${\cal B}(Λ_c^+ \to p π^0)<8.0 \times 10^{-5}$ at 90\% credibility level is set, more than three times better than the best current upper limit.

We discuss prospects of studying supersymmetric model at future $pp$ circular collider (FCC) with its centre-of-mass energy of $\sim 100\ {\rm TeV}$. We pay particular attention to the model in which Wino is lighter than other supersymmetric particles and all the gauginos are within the kinematical reach of the FCC, which is the case in a large class of so-called pure gravity mediation model based on anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking. In such a class of model, charged Wino becomes long-lived with its decay length of $\sim 6\ {\rm cm}$, and the charged Wino tracks may be identified in particular by the inner pixel detector; the charged Wino tracks can be used not only for the discrimination of standard model backgrounds but also for the event reconstructions. We show that precise determinations of the Bino, Wino, and gluino masses are possible at the FCC. For such measurements, information about the charged Wino tracks, including the one about the velocity of the charged Wino using the time of the hit at the pixel detector, is crucial. With the measurements of the gaugino masses in the pure gravity mediation model, we have an access to more fundamental parameters like the gravitino mass.

We present limits on sterile neutrino mixing using 4,438 live-days of atmospheric neutrino data from the Super-Kamiokande experiment. We search for fast oscillations driven by an eV$^2$-scale mass splitting and for oscillations into sterile neutrinos instead of tau neutrinos at the atmospheric mass splitting. When performing both these searches we assume that the sterile mass splitting is large, allowing $\sin^2(Δm^2 L/4E)$ to be approximated as $0.5$, and we assume that there is no mixing between electron neutrinos and sterile neutrinos ($|U_{e4}|^2 = 0$). No evidence of sterile oscillations is seen and we limit $|U_{\mu4}|^2$ to less than 0.041 and $|U_{\tau4}|^2$ to less than 0.18 for $Δm^2 > 0.8$ eV$^2$ at the 90% C.L. in a 3+1 framework. The approximations that can be made with atmospheric neutrinos allow these limits to be easily applied to 3+N models, and we provide our results in a generic format to allow comparisons with other sterile neutrino models.

The trilepton nucleon decay modes $p \rightarrow e^+ νν$ and $p \rightarrow μ^+ νν$ violate $|Δ(B - L)|$ by two units. Using data from a 273.4 kiloton year exposure of Super-Kamiokande a search for these decays yields a fit consistent with no signal. Accordingly, lower limits on the partial lifetimes of $τ_{p \rightarrow e^+ νν} > 1.7 \times 10^{32}$ years and…

Accordingly, lower limits on the partial lifetimes of $τ_{p \rightarrow e^+ νν} > 1.7 \times 10^{32}$ years and $τ_{p \rightarrow μ^+ νν} > 2.2 \times 10^{32}$ years at a $90 \% $ confidence level are obtained. These limits can constrain Grand Unified Theories which allow for such processes.

This work is on the Physics of the B Factories. Part A of this book contains a brief description of the SLAC and KEK B Factories as well as their detectors, BaBar and Belle, and data taking related issues. Part B discusses tools and methods used by the experiments in order to obtain results. The results themselves can be found in Part C.
Please note that version 3 on the archive is the auxiliary version of the Physics of the B Factories book. This uses the notation alpha, beta, gamma for the angles of the Unitarity Triangle. The nominal version uses the notation phi_1, phi_2 and phi_3. Please cite this work as Eur. Phys. J. C74 (2014) 3026.
