In order to unravel the present situation of the PBH overproduction problem, our study emphasizes the critical role played by the equation of state (EoS) parameter $w$ within the framework of effective field theory (EFT) of non-singular bounce. Our analysis focuses on a wide range of EoS parameter values that are still optimal for explaining the latest data from the pulsar timing array (PTA). As a result of our study, the most advantageous window, $0.31 \leq w \leq 1/3$, is identified as the location of a substantial PBH abundance, $f_{\rm PBH} \in (10^{-3},1)$ with large mass PBHs, $M_{\rm PBH}\sim {\cal O}(10^{-7}-10^{-3})M_{\odot}$, in the SIGW interpretation of the PTA signal. When confronted with PTA, we find that the overproduction avoiding circumstances are between $1σ-2σ$, while the EoS parameter lies inside the narrow window, $0.31<w\leq 1/3$. We propose a regularized-renormalized-resummed (RRR) scalar power spectrum that is large enough to produce EoS dependent scalar generated gravitational waves compatible with PTA evidence, while satisfying the perturbativity, causality, and unitarity criteria, within the range of $0.88 \leq c_{s} \leq 1$.

We present a complete and consistent exposition of the regularization, renormalization, and resummation procedures in the setup of having a contraction and then non-singular bounce followed by inflation with a sharp transition from slow-roll (SR) to ultra-slow roll (USR) phase for generating primordial black holes (PBHs). We consider following an effective field theory (EFT) approach and study the quantum loop corrections to the power spectrum from each phase. We demonstrate the complete removal of quadratic UV divergences after renormalization and softened logarithmic IR divergences after resummation and illustrate the scheme-independent nature of our renormalization approach. We further show that the addition of a contracting and bouncing phase allows us to successfully generate PBHs of solar-mass order, $M_{\rm PBH}\sim {\cal O}(M_{\odot})$, by achieving the minimum e-folds during inflation to be $ΔN_{\rm Total}\sim {\cal O}(60)$ and in this process successfully evading the strict no-go theorem. We notice that varying the effective sound speed between $0.88\leq c_{s}\leq 1$, allows the peak spectrum amplitude to lie within $10^{-3}\leq A \leq 10^{-2}$, indicating that causality and unitarity remain protected in the theory. We analyse PBHs in the extremely small, $M_{\rm PBH}\sim {\cal O}(10^{-33}-10^{-27})M_{\odot}$, and the large, $M_{\rm PBH}\sim {\cal O}(10^{-6}-10^{-1})M_{\odot}$, mass limits and confront the PBH abundance results with the latest microlensing constraints. We also study the cosmological beta functions across all phases and find their interpretation consistent in the context of bouncing and inflationary scenarios while satisfying the pivot scale normalization requirement. Further, we estimate the spectral distortion effects and shed light on controlling PBH overproduction.

We demonstrate the explicit realisation of the ultra-slow roll phase in the framework of the effective field theory of single-field Galileon inflation. The pulsar timing array (PTA) collaboration hints at the scalar-induced gravity waves (SIGW) from the early universe as an explanation for the origin of the observed signal, which, however, leads to an enhancement in the amplitude of the scalar power spectrum giving rise to the overproduction of primordial black holes (PBHs). In the setup under consideration, we examine the generation of SIGW consistent with PTA (NANOGrav15 and EPTA) data, in addition to which we also consider the impact from QCD crossover at the nHz frequencies and address the PBH overproduction issue assuming linear approximations for the over-density without incorporating non-Gaussian effects from the comoving curvature perturbation. The framework is shown to give rise to SIGWs well consistent with the PTA signal with comfortable PBH abundance, $10^{-3} \lesssim f_{\rm PBH} < 1$, of near solar-mass black holes.

$S$ algebra is an infinite dimensional Lie algebra which is known to be the symmetry algebra of some gauge theories. It is a "coloured version" of the $w_{1+\infty}$. In this paper we write down all possible $S$ invariant (celestial) OPEs between two positive helicity outgoing gluons and also find the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov type null states for these theories. Our analysis hints at the existence of an infinite number of $S$ invariant gauge theories which include the (tree-level) MHV-sector and the self-dual Yang-Mills theory.

PBH formation requires significantly enhancing the scalar power spectrum, which greatly affects their abundance. The associated frequencies in the nHz regime are also sensitive to the generation of scalar-induced gravitational waves (SIGWs) which may explain the current data from the pulsar timing arrays (PTAs). Our analysis using the threshold statistics on the compaction function demonstrates that Galileon theory not only avoids PBH overproduction using the curvature perturbation enhancements that give $f_{\rm NL} \sim {\cal O}(-6)$, but also generates SIGWs that conform well with the PTA data.

Thanks to the non-renormalization property of Galileon theory, the amplitude of the large fluctuation is controllable at the sharp transitions between SR and USR regions. We show that the behaviour of the GW spectrum, when one-loop effects are included in the scalar power spectrum, is preserved under a shift of the sharp transition scale with peak amplitude $Ω_{\rm GW}h^2\sim {\cal O}(10^{-6})$, and hence it can cover a wide range of frequencies within ${\cal O}(10^{-9}{\rm Hz} - 10^{7}{\rm Hz})$. An analysis of the allowed mass range for primordial black holes (PBHs) is also performed, where we find that mass values ranging from ${\cal O}(1M_{\odot} - 10^{-18}M_{\odot})$ can be generated over the corresponding allowed range of low and high frequencies.

We present a detailed study of the generation of large primordial non-Gaussianities during the slow-roll (SR) to ultra-slow roll (USR) transitions in the framework of Galileon inflation. We found out that due to having sharp transitions in the USR phase, which persist with a duration of $Δ{\it N}_{\rm USR} \sim 2$ e-folds, we are able to generate the non-Gaussianity amplitude of the order: $|f_{\rm NL}| \sim {\it O}(10^{-2})$ in the SRI, $-5 < f_{\rm NL} < 5$ in the USR, and $-2 < f_{\rm NL} < 2$ in the SRII phases. As a result, we are able to achieve a cumulative average value of $|f_{\rm NL}| \sim {\it O}(1)$. This implies that our results strictly satisfy Maldacena's no-go theorem in the squeezed limit only for SRI, while they strictly violate the same condition in both the USR and SRII phases. The non-renormalization theorem in the Galileon theory helps to support our results regarding the generation of large mass primordial black holes along with large non-Gaussianities, which we show to be dependent on the specific positions of the transition wave numbers fixed at low scales.

In Khadka et al. (2023), a sample of X-ray-detected reverberation-mapped quasars was presented and applied for the comparison of cosmological constraints inferred using two well-established relations in AGN -- the X-ray/UV luminosity ($L_{X}-L_{UV}$) relation and the broad-line region radius-luminosity ($R-L$) relation. $L_{X}-L_{UV}$ and $R-L$ luminosity distances to the same quasars exhibit a distribution of their differences that is generally asymmetric and positively shifted for the six cosmological models we consider. We demonstrate that this behaviour can be interpreted qualitatively to arise as a result of the dust extinction of UV/X-ray quasar emission. We show that the extinction always contributes to the non-zero difference between $L_{X}-L_{UV}$-based and $R-L$-based luminosity distances and we derive a linear relationship between the X-ray/UV colour index $E_{X-UV}$ and the luminosity-distance difference, which also depends on the value of the $L_{X}-L_{UV}$ relation slope. Taking into account the median and the peak values of the luminosity-distance difference distributions, the average X-ray/UV colour index falls in the range of $\overline{E}_{X-UV}=0.03-0.28$ mag for the current sample of 58 sources. This amount of extinction is typical for the majority of quasars and it can be attributed to the circumnuclear and interstellar media of host galaxies. After applying the standard hard X-ray and far-UV extinction cuts, heavily extincted sources are removed but overall the shift towards positive values persists. The effect of extinction on luminosity distances is more pronounced for the $L_{X}-L_{UV}$ relation since the extinction of UV and X-ray emissions both contribute.

We propose an algebraic analysis using a 3+1 decomposition to identify conditions for a clever cancellation of the higher derivatives, which plagued the theory with Ostrogradsky ghosts, by exploiting some existing degeneracy in the Lagrangian. We obtain these conditions as linear equations (in terms of coefficients of the higher derivative terms) and demand that they vanish, such that the existence of nontrivial solutions implies that the theory is degenerate. We find that, for the theory under consideration, no such solutions exist for a general inhomogeneous scalar field, but that the theory is degenerate in the unitary gauge. We, then, find modified FLRW equations and narrow down conditions for which there could exist a de Sitter inflationary epoch. We further find constraints on the coefficients of the remaining higher-derivative interaction terms, based on power-counting renormalizability and tree-level unitarity up to the Planck scale.

We present a detailed exposition on the prospects of the formation of Primordial Black Holes (PBHs) during Slow Roll (SR) to Ultra Slow Roll (USR) sharp transitions in the framework of single-field inflation. We use an effective field theory (EFT) approach in order to keep the analysis model-independent and applicable to both the canonical and non-canonical cases. We show in detail how renormalizing the power spectrum to one loop order in $P(X,φ)$ theories severely limits the prospects for PBH formation in a single-field inflationary framework. We demonstrate that for the allowed range of effective sound speed, $1<c_s<1.17$, the consistency of one-loop corrected power spectrum leaves a small window for black hole masses, $M_{\rm PBH}\sim \mathcal{O}(10^2-10^3)$gm to have sufficient e-foldings, $Δ{\cal N}_{\rm Total}\sim {\cal O}(54-59)$ for inflation. We confirm that adding an SR regime after USR before the end of inflation does not significantly alter our conclusions. Our findings for sharp transition strictly rule out the possibility of generating large masses of PBHs from all possible models of single-field inflation (canonical and non-canonical). Our results are at least valid for the situation where constraints from the loop effects are computed using either Late-Time (LT) or Adiabatic-Wave function (AF) scheme followed by Power Spectrum (PS) renormalization schemes.

By simultaneously determining $R-L$ or $L_X-L_{UV}$ relation parameters and cosmological parameters in six different cosmological models, we find that both $R-L$ and $L_X-L_{UV}$ relations are standardizable but provide only weak cosmological parameter constraints, with $L_X-L_{UV}$ relation data favoring larger current non-relativistic matter density parameter $Ω_{m0}$ values than $R-L$ relation data and most other available data. We derive $L_X-L_{UV}$ and $R-L$ luminosity distances for each of the sources in the six cosmological models and find that $L_X-L_{UV}$ relation luminosity distances are shorter than $R-L$ relation luminosity distances as well as standard flat $Λ$CDM model luminosity distances. This explains why $L_X-L_{UV}$ relation QSO data favor larger $Ω_{m0}$ values than do $R-L$ relation QSO data or most other cosmological measurements. While our sample size is small and only spans a small $z$ range, these results indicate that more work is needed to determine whether the $L_X-L_{UV}$ relation can be used as a cosmological probe.

The expressions for the propagators are cross-checked with the past literature as well as with the expressions for the traced heat kernel coefficients. The propagators so obtained are used to compute one-loop divergences in the Vilkovisky-Dewitt's effective action for a scalar field non-minimally coupled with gravity for an arbitrary spacetime metric background. The Vilkovisky-DeWitt effective action is then compared with the standard effective action in the limit $κ=0$, where $κ= 2/M_P$ in terms of the Planck mass. The comparison yields the important result that taking the limit $κ=0$ after computing the Vikovisky-DeWitt effective action is not equivalent to computing the Vikovisky-DeWitt effective action for the same theory in the absence of gravity.

We perform the calculation for tree-level ultraviolet unitarity violation scales for scalar-$R^2$ inflation models by including an additional $R^2 |Φ|^2$-type term. Due to certain constraints, we resort to the Einstein frame for our calculations, where we separate our analysis between metric and Palatini formulations. We follow recent works in this line that debunk the naive predictions for unitarity violations in Higgs' inflation models to determine how to accurately estimate the behaviour of scattering amplitudes in the UV limit. Later, we work out different cases by assuming potentials corresponding to known inflation scenarios so we could predict the range of coupling parameters for which the theories would remain unitary up to the Planckian regime. We also try to find the behaviour of the scattering amplitudes for these theories during the transition from inflationary to reheating epoch.

In this paper we study the application of four-mode squeezed states in the cosmological context, studying two weakly coupled scalar fields in the planar patch of the de Sitter space. We construct the four-mode squeezed state formalism and connect this concept with the Hamiltonian of the two coupled inverted harmonic oscillators having a time-dependent effective frequency in the planar patch of the de Sitter space. Further, the corresponding evolution operator for the quantum Euclidean vacuum state has been constructed, which captures its dynamics. Using the Heisenberg picture coupled differential equations describing the time evolution for all squeezing parameters (amplitude, phase and angle) have been obtained, for the weakly coupled two scalar field model. With the help of these evolutions for the coupled system, we simulate the dynamics of the squeezing parameters in terms of conformal time. From our analysis, we observe interesting dynamics, which helps us to explore various underlying physical implications of the weakly coupled two scalar field system in the planar patch of the de Sitter cosmological background.

We investigate quantum stability of the generalised Proca theories in curved spacetime treating gravity as a dynamical field. To compute the quantum gravitational corrections we evaluate divergent part of the effective action at one loop level. We employ Vilkovisky-DeWitt formalism for this task which gives us a gauge invariant and gauge condition independent effective action. It is shown that the quantum corrections are suppressed by a UV cutoff parametrically higher than the Proca mass if the coupling constants are restricted to lie in a certain range. Furthermore it is shown that the quantum corrections remain suppressed even at scales where classical non-linearities dominate over kinetic terms allowing Vainshtein mechanism to work.

Ostrogradsky instability generally appears in nondegenerate higher-order derivative theories and this issue can be resolved by removing any existing degeneracy present in such theories. We consider an action involving terms that are at most quadratic in second derivatives of the scalar field and non-minimally coupled with the curvature tensors. We perform a 3+1 decomposition of the Lagrangian to separate second-order time derivative terms from rest. This decomposition is useful for checking the degeneracy hidden in the Lagrangian and helps us find conditions under which Ostrogradsky instability does not appear. We show that our construction of Lagrangian resembles that of a GR-like theory for a particular case in the unitary gauge. As an example, we calculate the equation of motion for the flat FRW. We also write the action for open and closed cases, free from higher derivatives for a particular choice derived from imposing degeneracy conditions.

In this article, we study the quantum field theoretic generalization of the Caldeira-Leggett model in general curved space-time considering interactions between two scalar fields in a classical gravitational background. The thermalization phenomena is then studied from the obtained de Sitter solution using quantum quench from one scalar field model obtained from path integrated effective action. We consider an instantaneous quench in the time-dependent mass protocol of the field of our interest. We find that the dynamics of the field post-quench can be described in terms of the state of the generalized Calabrese-Cardy (gCC) form and computed the different types of two-point correlation functions in this context. We explicitly found the conserved charges of $W_{\infty}$ algebra that represents the gCC state after a quench in de Sitter space and found it to be significantly different from the flat space-time results. We extend our study for the different two-point correlation functions not only considering the pre-quench state as the ground state, but also a squeezed state. We found that irrespective of the pre-quench state, the post quench state can be written in terms of the gCC state showing that the subsystem of our interest thermalizes in de Sitter space. Furthermore, we provide a general expression for the two-point correlators and explicitly show the thermalization process by considering a thermal Generalized Gibbs ensemble (GGE). Finally, from the equal time momentum dependent counterpart of the obtained results for the two-point correlators, we have studied the hidden features of the power spectra and studied its consequences for different choices of the quantum initial conditions.

Recently in various theoretical works, path-breaking progress has been made in recovering the well-known Page Curve of an evaporating black hole with Quantum Extremal Islands, proposed to solve the long-standing black hole information loss problem related to the unitarity issue. Motivated by this concept, in this paper, we study cosmological circuit complexity in the presence (or absence) of Quantum Extremal Islands in the negative (or positive) Cosmological Constant with radiation in the background of Friedmann-Lema$\hat{i}$tre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) space-time i.e the presence and absence of islands in anti-de Sitter and the de Sitter spacetime having SO(2, 3) and SO(1, 4) isometries respectively. Without using any explicit details of any gravity model, we study the behaviour of the circuit complexity function with respect to the dynamical cosmological solution for the scale factors for the above-mentioned two situations in FLRW space-time using squeezed state formalism. By studying the cosmological circuit complexity, Out-of-Time Ordered Correlators, and entanglement entropy of the modes of the squeezed state, in different parameter spaces, we conclude the non-universality of these measures. Their remarkably different features in the different parameter spaces suggest their dependence on the parameters of the model under consideration.

$Circuit~ Complexity$, a well known computational technique has recently become the backbone of the physics community to probe the chaotic behaviour and random quantum fluctuations of quantum fields. This paper is devoted to the study of out-of-equilibrium aspects and quantum chaos appearing in the universe from the paradigm of two well known bouncing cosmological solutions viz. $Cosine~ hyperbolic$ and $Exponential$ models of scale factors. Besides $circuit~ complexity$, we use the $Out-of-Time~ Ordered~ correlation~ (OTOC)$ functions for probing the random behaviour of the universe both at early and the late times. In particular, we use the techniques of well known two-mode squeezed state formalism in cosmological perturbation theory as a key ingredient for the purpose of our computation. To give an appropriate theoretical interpretation that is consistent with the observational perspective we use the scale factor and the number of e-foldings as a dynamical variable instead of conformal time for this computation. From this study, we found that the period of post bounce is the most interesting one. Though it may not be immediately visible, but an exponential rise can be seen in the $complexity$ once the post bounce feature is extrapolated to the present time scales. We also find within the very small acceptable error range a universal connecting relation between Complexity computed from two different kinds of cost functionals-$linearly~ weighted$ and $geodesic~ weighted$ with the OTOC. Furthermore, from the $complexity$ computation obtained from both the cosmological models and also using the well known MSS bound on quantum Lyapunov exponent, $λ\leq 2π/β$ for the saturation of chaos, we estimate the lower bound on the equilibrium temperature of our universe at late time scale. Finally, we provide a rough estimation of the scrambling time in terms of the conformal time.

We study the indirect detection of Cosmological Constant from an open quantum system of interacting spins, weakly interacting with a thermal bath, a massless scalar field minimally coupled with the static de Sitter background, by computing the spectroscopic shifts. By assuming pairwise interaction between spins, we construct states using a generalisation of the superposition principle. The corresponding spectroscopic shifts, caused by the effective Hamiltonian of the system due to Casimir Polder interaction, are seen to play a crucial role in predicting a very tiny value of the Cosmological Constant, in the static patch of de Sitter space, which is consistent with the observed value from the Planck measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies.

In this work, our prime objective is to study non-locality and long-range effects of two-body correlation using quantum entanglement from the various information-theoretic measures in the static patch of de Sitter space using a two-body Open Quantum System (OQS). The OQS is described by a system of two entangled atoms, surrounded by a thermal bath, which is modelled by a massless probe scalar field. Firstly, we partially trace over the bath field and construct the Gorini Kossakowski Sudarshan Lindblad (GSKL) master equation, which describes the time evolution of the reduced subsystem density matrix. This GSKL master equation is characterized by two components, these are-Spin chain interaction Hamiltonian and the Lindbladian. To fix the form of both of them, we compute the Wightman functions for probe massless scalar field. Using this result along with the large time equilibrium behaviour we obtain the analytical solution for reduced density matrix. Further using this solution we evaluate various entanglement measures, namely Von-Neumann entropy, R$e'$nyi entropy, logarithmic negativity, entanglement of formation, concurrence and quantum discord for the two atomic subsystems on the static patch of De-Sitter space. Finally, we have studied the violation of Bell-CHSH inequality, which is the key ingredient to study non-locality in primordial cosmology.

While Planck scale physics is under development, it is still possible to incorporate quantum gravity effects at relatively low energies using quantum field theory in curved spacetime, which serves as a low-energy limit of planck scale physics. We use the Vilkovisky-DeWitt's covariant effective action formalism to study quantum gravitational corrections to a recently proposed Natural Inflation model with periodic nonminimal coupling. We present the 1-loop effective action for this theory valid in the flat-potential region, considering perturbative corrections upto quadratic order in background scalar fields.

In this work, we study the impact of quantum entanglement on the two-point correlation function and the associated primordial power spectrum of mean square vacuum fluctuation in a bipartite quantum field theoretic system. The field theory that we consider is the effective theory of axion field arising from Type IIB string theory compactified to four dimensions. We compute the expression for the power spectrum of vacuum fluctuation in three different approaches, namely (1) field operator expansion (FOE) technique with the quantum entangled state, (2) reduced density matrix (RDM) formalism with mixed quantum state and (3) the method of non-entangled state (NES). For massless axion field, in all these three formalism, we reproduce, at the leading order, the exact scale-invariant power spectrum which is well known in the literature. We observe that due to quantum entanglement, the sub-leading terms for these thee formalisms are different. Thus, such correction terms break the degeneracy among the analysis of the FOE, RDM and NES formalisms in the super-horizon limit. On the other hand, for massive axion field, we get a slight deviation from scale invariance and exactly quantify the spectral tilt of the power spectrum in small scales. Apart from that, for massless and massive axion field, we find distinguishable features of the power spectrum for the FOE, RDM, and NES on the large scales, which is the result of quantum entanglement. We also find that such large-scale effects are comparable to or greater than the curvature radius of the de Sitter space. Most importantly, in the near future, if experiments probe for early universe phenomena, one can detect such small quantum effects. In such a scenario, it is possible to test the implications of quantum entanglement in primordial cosmology.

We investigate the possibility of inflation with models of antisymmetric tensor field having minimal and nonminimal couplings to gravity. Although the minimal model does not support inflation, the nonminimal models, through the introduction of a nonminimal coupling to gravity, can give rise to stable de-Sitter solutions with a bound on the coupling parameters. The values of field and coupling parameters are sub-planckian. Slow roll analysis is performed and slow-roll parameters are defined which can give the required number of e-folds for sufficient inflation. Stability analysis has been performed for perturbations to antisymmetric field while keeping the metric unperturbed, and it is found that only the sub-horizon modes are free of ghost instability for de-Sitter space.

It has been shown earlier \cite{brandt,brandt1} that, in the mixed space, there is an unexpected simple relation between any finite temperature graph and its zero temperature counterpart through a multiplicative scalar operator (termed thermal operator) which carries the entire temperature dependence. This was shown to hold only in the imaginary time formalism and the closed time path ($σ=0$) of the real time formalism (as well as for its conjugate $σ=1$). We study the origin of this operator from the more fundamental Bogoliubov transformation which acts, in the momentum space, on the doubled space of fields in the real time formalisms \cite{takahashi,umezawa,pushpa}. We show how the ($2\times 2$) Bogoliubov transformation matrix naturally leads to the scalar thermal operator for $σ=0,1$ while it fails for any other value $0<σ<1$. This analysis also suggests that a generalized scalar thermal operator description, in the mixed space, is possible even for $0<σ<1$. We also show the existence of a scalar thermal operator relation in the momentum space.

In this work, we study the phenomena of quantum entanglement by computing de Sitter entanglement entropy from von Neumann measure. For this purpose we consider a bipartite quantum field theoretic setup in presence of axion originating from ${\bf Type~ II~B}$ string theory. We consider the initial vacuum to be CPT invariant non-adiabatic $α$ vacua state under ${\bf SO(1,4)}$ ismometry, which is characterized by a real one-parameter family. To implement this technique we use a ${\bf S^2}$ which divide the de Sitter into two exterior and interior sub-regions. First, we derive the wave function of axion in an open chart for $α$ vacua by applying Bogoliubov transformation on the solution for Bunch-Davies vacuum state. Further, we quantify the density matrix by tracing over the contribution from the exterior region. Using this result we derive entanglement entropy, R$\acute{e}$nyi entropy and explain the long-range quantum effects in primordial cosmological correlations. We also provide a comparison between the results obtained from Bunch-Davies vacuum and the generalized $α$ vacua, which implies that the amount of quantum entanglement and the long-range effects are larger for non zero value of the parameter $α$. Most significantly, our derived results for $α$ vacua provides the necessary condition for generating non zero entanglement entropy in primordial cosmology.

In this work, we have studied the possibility of setting up Bell's inequality violating experiment in the context of cosmology, based on the basic principles of quantum mechanics. First we start with the physical motivation of implementing the Bell's inequality violation in the context of cosmology. Then to set up the cosmological Bell violating test experiment we introduce a model independent theoretical framework using which we have studied the creation of new massive particles by implementing the WKB approximation method for the scalar fluctuations in presence of additional time dependent mass contribution. Next using the background scalar fluctuation in presence of new time dependent mass contribution, we explicitly compute the expression for the one point and two point correlation functions. Furthermore, using the results for one point function we introduce a new theoretical cosmological parameter which can be expressed in terms of the other known inflationary observables and can also be treated as a future theoretical probe to break the degeneracy amongst various models of inflation. Additionally, we also fix the scale of inflation in a model independent way without any prior knowledge of primordial gravitational waves. Next, we also comment on the technicalities of measurements from isospin breaking interactions and the future prospects of newly introduced massive particles in cosmological Bell violating test experiment. Further, we cite a precise example of this set up applicable in the context of string theory motivated axion monodromy model. Then we comment on the explicit role of decoherence effect and high spin on cosmological Bell violating test experiment. In fine, we provide a theoretical bound on the heavy particle mass parameter for scalar fields, graviton and other high spin fields from our proposed setup.

In this article, our prime objective is to study the inflationary paradigm from generalized tachyon (GTachyon) living on the world volume of a non-BPS string theory. The tachyon action is considered here is getting modified compared to the original action. One can quantify the amount of the modification via a power $q$ instead of $1/2$ in the effective action. Using this set up we study inflation from various types of tachyonic potentials, using which we constrain the index $q$ within, $1/2<q<2$, Regge slope $α^{'}$, string coupling constant $g_{s}$ and mass scale of tachyon $M_s$, from the recent Planck 2015 and Planck+BICEP2/Keck Array joint data. We explicitly study the inflationary consequences from single field, assisted field and multi-field tachyon set up. Specifically for single field and assisted field case we derive the results in the quasi-de-Sitter background in which we will utilize the details of cosmological perturbations and quantum fluctuations. Also we derive the expressions for all inflationary observables using any arbitrary vacuum and Bunch-Davies vacuum. For single field and assisted field case we derive-the inflationary flow equations, new sets of consistency relations. Also we derive the field excursion formula for tachyon, which shows that assisted inflation is in more safer side compared to the single field case to validate effective field theory framework. Further we study the features of CMB Angular power spectrum from TT, TE and EE correlations from scalar fluctuations within the allowed range of $q$ for each potentials from single field set-up. We also put constraints from the temperature anisotropy and polarization spectra, which shows that our analysis is consistent with the Planck 2015 data. Finally, using $δN$ formalism we derive the expressions for inflationary observables in the context of multi-field tachyons.

We compute the entanglement temperature using the first law-like of thermodynamics, $ΔE=T_{ent} ΔS_{EE}$, up to Gauss-Bonnet term in the Jacobson-Myers entropy functional in any arbitrary spacetime dimension. The computation is done when the entangling region is the geometry of a slab. We also show that such a Gauss-Bonnet term, which becomes a total derivative, when the co-dimension two hypersurface is four dimensional, does not contribute to the finite term in the entanglement entropy. We observe that the Weyl-squared term does not contribute to the entanglement entropy. It is important to note that the calculations are performed when the entangling region is very small and the energy is calculated using the normal Hamiltonian.

Although $f(R)$ modification of late time cosmology is successful in explaining present cosmic acceleration, it is difficult to satisfy the fifth-force constraint simultaneously. Even when the fifth-force constraint is satisfied, the effective scalar degree of freedom may move to a point (close to its potential minima) in the field space where the Ricci scalar diverges. We elucidate this point further with a specific example of $f(R)$ gravity that incorporates several viable $f(R)$ gravity models in the literature. In particular, we show that the nonlinear evolution of the scalar field in pressureless contracting dust can easily lead to the curvature singularity, making this theory unviable.

We construct the Lagrangian as well as the Hamiltonian for the generalized Langevin equation which leads naturally to a path integral description from first principles. This derivation clarifies the meaning of the additional fields introduced by Martin, Siggia and Rose in their functional formalism. We show that the transition amplitude, in this case, is the generating functional for correlation functions. We work out explicitly the correlation functions for the Markovian process of the Brownian motion of a free particle as well as for that of the non-Markovian process of the Brownian motion of a harmonic oscillator (Uhlenbeck-Ornstein model). The path integral description also leads to a simple derivation of the Fokker-Planck equation for the generalized Langevin equation.

We constrain plausible dark energy models, parametrized by multiple candidate equation of state, using the recently published Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature anisotropy data from Planck together with the WMAP-9 low-$\ell$ polarization data and data from low redshift surveys. To circumvent the limitations of any particular equation of state towards describing all existing dark energy models, we work with three different equation of state covering a broader class of dark energy models and, hence, provide more robust and generic constraints on the dark energy properties. We show that a clear tension exists between dark energy constraints from CMB and non-CMB observations when one allows for dark energy models having both phantom and non-phantom behavior; while CMB is more favorable to phantom models, the low-z data prefers model with behavior close to a Cosmological Constant. Further, we reconstruct the equation of state of dark energy as a function of redshift using the results from combined CMB and non-CMB data and find that Cosmological Constant lies outside the 1$σ$ band for multiple dark energy models allowing phantom behavior. A considerable fine tuning is needed to keep models with strict non-phantom history inside 2$σ$ allowed range. This result might motivate one to construct phantom models of dark energy, which is achievable in the presence of higher derivative operators as in string theory. However, disallowing phantom behavior, based only on strong theoretical prior, leads to both CMB and non-CMB datasets agree on the nature of dark energy, with the mean equation of state being very close to the Cosmological Constant. Finally, to illustrate the impact of additional dark energy parameters on other cosmological parameters, we provide the cosmological parameter constraints for different dark energy models.

The axion field arises from the Ramond-Ramond sector of the Type-IIB string theory. We study the background evolution of the Universe as well as the growth of the matter perturbation in the linear regime. We subsequently use the observational data from Sn-Ia, BAO measurements, measurements of the Hubble parameter as well as the observational data for the growth of the matter perturbation to constrain our model. Our results show that coupled axion models are allowed to have larger deviation from cosmological constant by the present observational data.

We investigate the motion of a test particle in higher dimensions due to the presence of extended sources like D$p$-branes by studying the motion in the transverse space of the brane. This is contrasted with the motion of a point particle in the Schwarzschild background in higher dimensions. Since D$p$-branes are specific to 10-dimensional space time and exact solutions of geodesic equations for this particular space time has not been possible so far for the Schwarzschild background, we focus here to find the leading order solution of the geodesic equation (for motion of light rays). This enables us to compute the bending of light in both the backgrounds. We show that contrary to the well known result of no noncircular bound orbits for a massive particle, in Schwarzschild background, for $d\geq 5$, the $Dp$-brane background does allow bound elliptic motion only for $p = 6$ and the perihelion of the ellipse regresses instead of advancement. We also find that circular orbits for photon are allowed only for $p\le 3$.

We study the observational constraints for the axion models in string theory which can successfully act as quintessence. The evolution of the universe in this model is sensitive to the initial value of the axion field. This initial value of the axion field controls deviation of the cosmic evolution from the ΛCDM behaviour. We use the recent Union2 Supernova Type Ia dataset as well as the data from BAO measurements, the WMAP measurement of the shift parameter and the $H(z)$ measurements. Using these data, the reconstructed equation of state of the axion field has extremely small deviation from the cosmological constant ω= -1 even at 2σconfidence level. One interesting outcome of this analysis is that one can put bound on the SUSY breaking scale using cosmological measurements assuming the values of different string related parameters and vice versa.
