2017
At a candidate forum hosted by KCOS and the El Paso League of Women Voters, Rivera was asked about the most important needs in District 7. He said:
“ | As numerous candidates have expressed, streets in this community are terrible. Potholes are a menace to drivers, their cars and everything else. James Watt [Drive] alone is a land mine, hasn't been taken care of for months, and when they do, it's a patchwork and only the next rainfall will come along and remove that repair. The other issue is lighting. Under certain situations, neighborhoods have to exist without lighting. And, as we all know, in the darkness, crime breeds very significantly. The other issue I would like to address is that of parks and recreation, trails along the community itself, and taxes. But most importantly, what I would like to do is repair the streets for the citizens of the community.[4] | ” |
