Aside from English (which is standard on all commons pages) the most important language in relation to Texas is Spanish.

• Spanish is the most widely spoken non-English language
• There is a lot of immigration from Spanish-speaking countries, especially Mexico and to a lesser extent El Salvador
• Texas has longtime Spanish-speaking communities and was previously a part of Spain's colonies (it later became a part of Mexico)

In addition, Vietnamese is the third most common language in Texas, so that language is also important. Chinese is the fourth most common language in Texas and it is spoken in the Houston and Dallas areas. Hindi is the fifth most common language, and it is also spoken in the Dallas and Houston areas. Persian, French, Urdu, and Arabic are spoken in Houston. Korean is spoken in Dallas and in a part of Houston.

In Houston people with Hindi, Urdu, and French knowledge have higher rates of English fluency compared to Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese speakers, so Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese have a higher priority. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:28, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
