Hochsande or højsande ("uplifted sandbars") are a special type of sandbar in the Waddden Sea, which do not fall below sea level even at high tide but have usually no vegetation and are not yet an island. Some former sandbars are currently listed as Hochsande and may be an island in the future (such as Kachelotplate) whereas former islands are now just a Hochsand (such as Jordsand).
