The NYPL only claims copyfraud on the pictures: "However, as the physical rights holder of this material most of which is in the public domain for copyright purposes, the Library charges a usage fee if images are to be used in any nonprofit or commercial publication, broadcast, web site, exhibition, promotional material, etc. The usage fee is not a copyright fee. You are free to obtain a copy of these images from a source other than NYPL. Usage fees help ensure that the Library is able to continue to acquire, preserve and provide access to the accumulated knowledge of the world." The template should be removed and a new purely informational tag created that specifies the source etc. Concerning their copyright status, the pictures should carry {{PD-art}} or {{PD-old}} instead. --Rtc 15:53, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

- Delete or replace with something informational like {{LOC-image}}, to link users to the original NYPL page where the image is kept. (In that case, it should probably be renamed to 'NYPL-image' or something like that. It's useless in its current form. grendel|khan 00:18, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
