Argonne Image

[edit]

Is from my personal collection of photos from the last summer I marched in Argonne. I am not sure how to reference my personal photos???— Preceding unsigned comment added by Argonne73 (talk • contribs) 17:03, December 16, 2021‎ (UTC)

@Argonne73: The EXIF data for the file indicates it was downloaded from a Facebook page (perhaps here) and then reuploaded to Commons. There's information on what to do provided in the template I added to your user page, but it basically comes down to who took the photo because the person who takes a photo is considered to be its copyright holder (in almost all cases) and Commons needs to be able verify the consent of this copyright holder in some way forbit to keep hosting the photo. So, if you originally took the photo yourself, and subsequently uploaded it to Facebook, then please take a look at Commons:But it's my own work! and Commons:Volunteer Response Team#Licensing images: when do I contact VRT? for more details. On the other hand, if you didn't take the photo yourself, then it's almost certainly not your "own work" as explained in Commons:Own work and you should follow the instructions given at Commons:Volunteer Response Team#If you are NOT the copyright holder. In either case, the more information you can provide about the en:provenance of the photo, the easier way it will be to sort this out. — Marchjuly (talk) 20:45, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
