About the Historical Book Arts Collection Database
The material for this database was selected from various manuscript and text collections that reside in the UW Libraries Book Arts Collection in the Special Collections Division. The material was chosen to both illustrate the techniques of the history of book and to highlight some important examples from the UW Libraries collections. Very few items were scanned in their entirety. Only specific selections from each item, such as binding details, illustrations, paper or text examples were digitized. The material was scanned in RGB color using an Olympus C-2000 Zoom digital camera and saved in .jpg format and resized to 768x600 ppi. Some manipulation of the images was done to present the clearest possible digital image. The scanned images were then linked with descriptive data using Contentdm software. Image capture, research and cataloging were done by the Special Collections Division staff. |
