Das Doppelsternsystem liegt 34 Parsec (ca. 112 Lichtjahre) von der Sonne entfernt[6] und weist eine Umlaufzeit von 3849 Tagen (10,54 Jahre)[7] auf. Der Hauptstern
Am 21. August 2016 bekam der Stern von der Internationalen Astronomischen Union den offiziellen, historisch belegten Eigennamen Nusakan.[14] Er leitet sich vom arabischen Ḳasʽat al Masākīn ab, was übersetzt „Schale des Bettlers“ oder „Schüssel des Bettlers“ bedeutet und dort einst die Bezeichnung für das ganze Sternbild war.[15]
