With the Constitution of 1876 there was a intense historiography renovation which, with a conservative viewpoint, put to a test all the liberal perspectives on the History of Spain which were produced just in the previous period. Martinez de Velasco y Sáenz Baquero opinion s on the War of the Communities of Castile meant a conservative answer to the idea of the event as a liberal revolution, which outburst from Ferrer del Río and Modesto Lafuente analysis. Despite formally those conservative authors still used the word revolution to speak on the War of the Castilian Communities, even that word meant for them a conservative event. This change of focus on that important historical episode had a deep effect on the whole conservative historiography afterwards.
