Helen Scally

Helen is an experienced secondary school chemistry and science teacher. She is head of chemistry at Turnbull High School which is located just outside of Glasgow. She has experience of mentoring student, probationer and early career teachers.

Helen prioritises making chemistry relevant for learners and embeds the development of skills for life, learning and work into the curriculum. The role chemistry plays in sustainability issues is an interest of hers and she enjoys leading interdisciplinary projects relating to these themes.

Helen is a keen musician. She previously played saxophone in a band supporting Bad Manners and The Selecter. However, nowadays is more likely to be singing ‘You canny shove your granny off a bus’ at the top of her voice with her children in the car.
