From Uttar Pradesh, the peda spread to many parts of the Indian subcontinent. [[Thakur (Indian title)|Thakur]] Ram Ratan Singh of [[Lucknow]] who migrated to [[Dharwad]] (in the present-day [[Karnataka]]) in the 1850s introduced pedas there.
