Following the unexpected financial success of How to Train Your Dragon, DreamWorks Animation led to the development on a sequel.[1] How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) surpassed the box-office take of How to Train Your Dragon, and received a similarly positive critical and audience response.[2] It was followed by How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019), which achieved similar financial and critical success as the first two How to Train Your Dragon films.
