editHey - well done to whoever researched and wrote this article - Dick Bruna was the first author I ever read. "I Can Count" and "I Can Read" - masterpieces of modern children's writing. User:MMGB
- Thanks. I am not registered, because WP does not work with IP numbers or non-persistent cookies. At least the Dutch WP shows my host name rather than my IP number, which I guess is something.
- The info on Dick Bruna was actually quite easy to find: it would seem he tells the same stuff in every interview he gives ;-), so rounding up three interviews with him through Google gave me all the raw material.--branko

editWhat a very pretty pictures! http://fuwafuwa.studioforce.net/
Picture added and several corrections made
editToday I took a picture of my friend Dick Bruna in his atelier in Utrecht, the Netherlands. I also talked with him about several points in this article. Because of the remarks made by Dick in this interview I removed his official or given names from the infobox. He feels they are totally superfluous and irrelevant. Nobody uses them or even knows them. The artist wants to be known as Dick, no more.
In the section on influences Bruna told me that the remark on Pablo Picasso was wrong. The only thing that he knows from Picasso is that the French writer Simenon once told him that Picasso had said to him (Simenon) that he liked one of the book covers Bruna had made for a Dutch translation of one of Simenon's detective stories, published by A.W. Bruna. --Dolph Kohnstamm 14:25, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Thank you Dolph...
editI appreciate your additions to the page. I edited it a few weeks back as I was disappointed by the lack of information provided. Honestly, I think it is a long way from being where it needs to be. Mr. Bruna is such an underrated artist and most American's knowledge of him is limited to Miffy. He has such an amazing body of work.
One question though. I appreciate that Dick would like to be known as such. But in the interest of information, isn't it appropriate to include his birth name in the article? I don't think it should be kept secret. While it is important to respect Mr. Bruna's wishes, I do feel this is important information that should not be left out of the article.
I am more that willing to discuss this topic rather than just make the change.
On another note, I was able to find your book "an eye demands an eye" early last year. Very nicely done. I'm in the process of trying to track down other books written about Bruna. So far I have most of the Japanese publications, paradise in pictograms, your book and a couple others.
Take care. Sean Flores

Hello Kitty
editI'm fairly sure there was a reference to this in the body text of the article at some stage, and that it's been removed. I have added it back in with the words, "He has said that the Japanese character Hello Kitty was copied from Miffy", and a citation. Meticulo (talk) 15:58, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
