If Ugley is, as previously stated, pronounced "Usley" (it wasn't when I lived nearby) then why all the jokes about the W.I.? -- Picapica13:58, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
I heard a woman from Ugley once married a man from a village in Hertfordshire. It was reported in the news under the headline "Nasty man marries Ugley woman" :) Sweetie Petie23:28, 6 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Because millions of people don't know that it's pronounced "Usley", of course. But I see now that all mention of either the pronunciation or the WI has gone from the article. Maybe the claim of this pronunciation was a hoax, or something invented by the locals to try and escape from the jokes. — Smjg (talk) 11:28, 3 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
