New Talent
edit> Does anyone know who's going to be the permanant solution to the morning anchor chair? Lauren Petty, Yvonne Nava, or possibly Anjuli Porter?
A star is born!!
I am most impressed with an anchor that I saw on NBC 30 News this weekend. Her name is Anjuli Porter and at first glance, its obvious that she's a STAR! She's breathtaking and had a lot of personality. Connecticut doesn't offer much excitement, but this woman made the news interesting .. and at times FUN! I flipped back and forth to other stations and was amazed at the difference!
I travel to Hartford a few times a month for business. I have never been impressed with Hartford news broadcasts -- the content reminds me of "small town" news and the anchors and reporters look "homely" and ordinary -- overall nothing to write home about. But Anjuli is fresh and interesting -- obviously misplaced in HARTFORD! As long as I continue to travel to Hartford for work, I will watch for this woman on NBC. But I have a feeling that she won't be in that small town very long. If the national networks had any sense, they'd scoop her up quick!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.8.247.232 (talk) 15:21, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
"Experiment"
editNBC didn't purchase channel 30 as a part of an "experiment". NBC purchased channel 30 because the FCC rules at the time had separate ownership limits for UHF and VHF stations, and NBC was already at the cap for VHF stations. 121a0012 02:30, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Weather Plus
editWVIT is still running Weather Plus on there digital channel 30.2. Myself i wish there would add Retro Television Network or [a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_TV"][This TV[/a] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mik10911 (talk • contribs) 16:39, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Channel 59 translator
editChannel 30's New Haven translator on Channel 59 was already on the air when my family moved there in 1974. It predates Viacom's ownership. Several of the Connecticut TV station articles give the sign-on date as 1980, and that's inaccurate. Someone with access to the print archives of the New Haven Register can verify this by looking at the old TV listings. JTRH (talk) 02:25, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Station Slogans
edit- Channel 30, Proud As A Peacock (1979-1981; localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- Channel 30, Our Pride Is Showing (1981-1982; localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- Channel 30, Just Watch Us Now (1982-1983; localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- Channel 30 There, Be There (1983-1984; localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- An Hour's News In Half The Time/Catch 30 (1983-1987; news slogan)
- Channel 30, Let's All Be There (1984-1986; localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- Come Home To WVIT (1986-1987, localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- Come On Home To WVIT (1987-1988, localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- Come Home To The Best, Only On WVIT (1988-1990; localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- WVIT, The Place To Be (1990-1992; localized version of NBC ad campaign)
- Live, Local, Late-Breaking (1998-2005; news slogan)
- Connecticut's News Leader (2005-present; news slogan)
- Connecticut's Only Local News In High Definition (2009-present; news slogan)
- We Are Connecticut (2010-2011; station slogan)
For consistency, either keep this section or delete the end of the previous section, since previous section includes a similar list of slogans for their news broadcast program. OR, if following WP:TVS, then move this list to the infobox. Cowbert (talk) 11:31, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- This is ridiculous...newscast titles can be sourced and are relevant information. Station slogans are not unique, as many of them are carbon-copies of network slogans (it's there in the text). They are harder to source. The community of editors who work on these articles consider this to be non-notable fancruft. A few troublesome editors pop on and have added/re-added this junk, some unregistered IP users and others registered trolls such as Radiodj1520, who has a history of creating biography articles which have amounted to nothing but fan pages that have been quickly deleted for non-notability. Really, this is a non-issue. Other Side One (talk) 15:58, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- If you insist on following a WT:TVS "consensus" from 2009 as the basis of your deletionism, then blank out the entire previous section since a previous 2008 "consensus" states that station schedules (to which listing the actual time that an anchor is scheduled to broadcast on probably applies) and "excessive" lists of station personnel also does not qualify as notable.
