Welcome to the 2024 WikiCup!
editHappy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2024 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor you should be able to advance to at least the second round, improving your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close on 31 January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), and Frostly (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Draft: American Junior Red Cross
editOkay, I added a Ref. showing notability (Re: 22 million). Also stretched out the article a little to be more all-encompassing. I mean, to give a more complete picture of the organization. It's far more notable than an athlete appearing in one game in the pros, IMO. Thanks for hopefully putting it through. However, either way, I really didn't want to spend much time on this. I just wanted to start this worthy article. It was once a major branch of the Red Cross. JimPercy (talk) 16:26, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, I added some more to give it completeness. JimPercy (talk) 13:12, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter
editThe 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.
Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:
- AirshipJungleman29 (submissions), with one FA on Hö'elün, two GAs on Mongolia-related articles, and two DYKs;
- Vami_IV (submissions), with one FA on Doom (2016 video game), one GA on Boundary Fire (2017), and 11 reviews;
- MaranoFan (submissions), with one FA on Holidays (Meghan Trainor song), a nine-article FT on 30 (album), and two DYKs;
- Skyshifter (submissions), with one FA on OneShot and one DYK;
- Sammi Brie (submissions), with five GAs and five DYKs on television and radio stations;
- voorts (submissions) and Elli (submissions), both with one FA and one DYK each.
As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. editI want to give a personal thank you to you for your motivation towards improving articles' references. Though you have "only" dealed with ~1% articles in the backlog, your impact is much greater than you might imagine. You have help set a fire for future endeavors to make Wikipedia more complete and comprehensive. CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 13:32, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- As you have well surpassed 750 articles cited, I would like to award you the level 10 badge early. Perhaps, a quote from one of our writers who has recently passed away would be the most appropriate here for the monumental work – citing all articles on Wikipedia – that we are dealing with. CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 13:49, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
The only way Completion can and will be reached is through a Herculean amount of work. Completion will also require Completionists to be bold, but civil and patient, and to some extent charismatic. This is a collaborative project! It shall also require Completionists to be discerning and travel to many places to acquire what the Encyclopedia needs. But most of all, it must be repeated, it shall require us to work. As is said of the Swabians, "Schaffe, schaffe Häusle baue" — Let's work and work, and build a house. |
- Wow! I cannot even imagine how to find sources for hundreds of unsourced articles. But these awesome editors inspire me to work harder and smarter. Thanks.Oldsanfelipe2 (talk) 19:31, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 March newsletter
editThe first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.
The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:
- Generalissima (submissions), who has 916 points mostly from one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher), 15 GAs, and 16 DYKs on a variety of topics including New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures, in addition to seven reviews
- Vami_IV (submissions), who has 790 points from two FAs on Felix M. Warburg House and Doom (2016 video game), two GAs, one DYK, and 11 reviews
- AirshipJungleman29 (submissions), who has 580 points from one FA on Hö'elün, two GAs on Mongolia-related articles, two DYKs, and five reviews
- Sammi Brie (submissions), who has 420 points mostly from nine GAs and seven DYKs on television and radio stations
- MaranoFan (submissions), who has 351 points from one FA on Holidays (Meghan Trainor song), a nine-article FT on 30 (album), and three DYKs
- Skyshifter (submissions), who has 345 points from one FA on OneShot, one DYK and two reviews
In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.
Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Draftifying articles
editI see that you have just removed two of my recently created rugby union articles into draftspace on grounds of lack of references. The Royal Bassett article has now been improved and expanded, and the number of references has been increased from two to eight, and none are primary references from their website. Therefore, can you please reinstate it back to mainspace. I shall now look to do the same with Hammersmith and Fulham and I hope you won't relegate any more of my articles from Wikipedia.Rillington (talk) 00:03, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Rillington: Royal Wootton Bassett is the club in question, thus sources 1 and 2 cannot be used to establish notability. The Rugby Football Union is directly associated with the club, thus sources 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 cannot be used to establish notability. I am sure that Source 3 has plenty of in-depth coverage of the club, but I am unable to access the text. JTtheOG (talk) 00:15, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- The RFU is not associated, even indirectly, with any club - it's the sport's governing body. Therefore its website is independent of the subject.Rillington (talk) 00:25, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Rillington: It is generally agreed upon that sports governing bodies are not independent of the teams or athletes that compete under their jurisdiction. JTtheOG (talk) 00:55, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- This is the first I've heard of this and I've been producing articles on English rugby union clubs for a decade. Plus it is also generally agreed that any club which has played at tier 5 of the English rugby league system is seen as notable. RWB played at this level for three seasons and H&F currently play at this level.Rillington (talk) 11:52, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Draft:Royal Wootton Bassett RFC has multiple primary and secondary references, including both the RFU pages as well as Rothman's Rugby Union Yearbook. These are the gold standard for rugby union and are notable sources. Tier 5 clubs play in the 'National Leagues' so this should also be considered when it comes to notability. Recommend keeping pages with note on adding future sources to help with reinforcing validaty as opposed to removing pages. Jgjsmith006 (talk) 16:27, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hey. As someone who also has also been creating sports articles for over a decade, it somewhat troubling that you would think this way. The RFU is simply not an independent source. At the time of draftification, the article had two sources: a link to the club's contacts page and a dead link to a results page from 8 years ago posted by the RFU. I hope we can all agree that this is nowhere near enough sources to meet notability guidelines, no matter which tier they are currently in, and it would be irresponsible of me to mark it as patrolled. Instead of deleting a page not ready for the mainspace, I draftified it to give you (or others) enough time to come up with better sourcing and re-submit it. I'm AGF that the Rothman's Yearbook has adequate in-depth coverage of the subject, but once again, this was not present in the originally published version of the article. JTtheOG (talk) 17:17, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Whoops. @Jgjsmith006: @Rillington: I forgot to ping I suppose. JTtheOG (talk) 18:56, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Deletion rationales
editHello, JTtheOG,
I'd like to request that on any future articles you nominate for PRODs or AFDs, that you do not mention that the article was created by Lugnuts. The identify of the editor who created an article, unless they are a sockpuppet, is really irrelevant to whether or not we should keep or delete an article. Basically, I think you can make a strong argument for deletion without drawing attention to a fellow editor.
There are many of us who worked with Lugnuts before he was blocked and while his editing was problematic, it just seems a bit mean-spirited to use his name as shorthand for an article that should be deleted. I respect the work that you do and I'm asking for this favor as a fellow editor, not an administrator who deletes a lot of PRODs and closes a lot of AFDs. For what it's worth, I think it might be appropriate to mention his participation while you are responding to other editors in AFD comments but just not in your deletion rationale, as the primary reason for an article's deletion. Thank you for considering this request. Liz Read! Talk! 01:21, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz: Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I certainly meant no ill will towards them and was simply attempting to provide context using a phrase I had seen others use in the past. I suppose I had not fully considered the implications of invoking their username. JTtheOG (talk) 01:33, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

editWhy have you moved my article about a footballer into draft, refering to lack of cources. In fact there are a lot of sources, even uefa.com, wich is the most trustworthy of all sources regarding footballers. You have obviously done this by routine, and not checked the vaildy of the sources in the article. RonTho (talk) 03:37, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @RonTho: This was a deliberate draftification. In order to better establish notability of this footballer, you must demonstrate that there is significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Source 1 (worldfootball.net) is a database and is thus not significant coverage of the subject. Source 2 (in.fo) is a short transactional announcement and is thus not significant coverage of the subject. Source 3 (B36) is his employer and is thus not independent of the subject. I am unable to access Source 4 (faroesoccer.com), but judging by the URL it seems to be a match report, and is thus not significant coverage of the subject. I draftified your article instead of nominating for deletion in order to allow you the time to present sources that establish notability. Hope this helps and happy editing. JTtheOG (talk) 20:59, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- You did not mention the most reliable source - uefa.com Is that not sufficient enough, regarding footballers? And what about soccerway.com?
- I sincerely ask you to do a proper work, instead of what you are preforming here. RonTho (talk) 22:06, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- @RonTho: You are correct. This is not sufficient enough because stats databases do not contribute towards notability, as I mentioned in my previous comment. JTtheOG (talk) 22:19, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
Hans Werner Sokop
editHi JTtheOG,
I've seen that you have tagged my article about Hans Werner Sokop (if this is not the case, please accept my apologies).
In the meantime, I've added a section with external links of libraries etc. that prove the literary production of Hans Werner Sokop.
Is there anything else that is necessary to prove that the content is correct and valuable?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Uto (talk) 13:03, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi JTtheOG,
- I've added the citations and references needed, thus verifying the content of the last paragraph of the section "Life".
- Therefore, I've removed the tag (also as there is no contentious and libelous content).
- I hope this is OK for you.
- Otherwise, please advise me what I can do to further improve the article.
- Kind Regards,
- Uto (talk) 09:20, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Pages Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

A question about page review
editHello @JTtheOG,
A few days ago, I stumbled a think that I don't fully understand and I would appreciate your opinion. I have created some Wikipedia pages and all of them have received "reviewed" status. One didn't – Kurk Lietuvai. Ironically, it's the one that I happened to put the most effort in and wanted to do as good as I could. Even much newer pages that I created have already been reviewed, e.g. Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve. How come that my articles get reviewed, but one is "stuck" and doesn't? What difference on Wikipedia does it make if an article has been reviewed?
Best regards,
Frequently.by.train (talk) 15:35, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hey there. I wouldn't exactly be able to tell you, because it shows up as reviewed for me. Good work, though. JTtheOG (talk) 16:27, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs. As a reminder, competitors are strictly prohibited from gaming Wikipedia policies or processes to receive more points.

Page mover granted
editHello, JTtheOG. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Wikipedia:Requested moves
- Category:Requested moves, for article renaming requests awaiting action.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Hey man im josh (talk) 12:53, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 May newsletter
editThe second round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 April. This round was particularly competitive: each of the 32 contestants who advanced to Round 3 scored at least 141 points. This is the highest number of points required to advance to Round 3 since 2014.
The following scorers in Round 2 all scored more than 500 points:
- Sammi Brie (submissions) with 707 points, mostly from 45 good article nomination reviews and 12 good articless about radio and television;
- Generalissima (submissions) with 600 points, mostly from 12 good articles and 12 did you know nominations about coinage and history;
- SounderBruce (submissions) with 552 points, mostly from a featured article about the 2020 Seattle Sounders FC season, three featured lists, and two good articles;
- BennyOnTheLoose (submissions) with 548 points, mostly from a featured article about the snooker player John Pulman, two featured lists, and one good article;
- voorts (submissions) with 530 points, mostly from two featured articles (Well he would, wouldn't he? and Cora Agnes Benneson) and three good articles.
The full scores for Round 2 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 18 featured articles, 22 featured lists, and 186 good articles, 76 in the news credits and at least 200 did you know credits. They have conducted 165 featured article reviews, as well as 399 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 21 articles to featured topics and good topics.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed during Round 3, which starts on 1 May at 00:00 (UTC).

Editor of the Week
editEditor of the Week | ||
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project) |
User:Hey man im josh submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:
- I nominate JTtheOG to be Editor of the Week for their ability to "crush" backlogs. They do very impressive work at NPP. Last year JTtheOG reviewed over 10,000 articles as part of new page patrolling, making this the fifth time they've done so in a single year. This also marks the (at least) seventh consecutive year that they've reviewed at least 5,000 articles. Due to this impressive and continued effort, they currently rank second all-time in article reviews. In addition, they recently won the 2024 January NPP backlog drive and the WP:FEB24 unreferenced backlog drive. I think it's time we give them some deserved recognition for the truly amazing amount of work they do. This nomination was seconded by Novem Linguae and Queen of Hearts.

Was this draftification requested by anyone or is there an editor who has indicated they would be working on improving the draft? ~Kvng (talk) 13:51, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- No, not as far as I know. JTtheOG (talk) 21:37, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, I'd like to invoke WP:DRAFTOBJECT here. I agree with the notability concerns raised by User:Number 57 so once it is moved back to mainspace, I think it best to WP:BLAR it to North Somerset Council elections as an WP:ATD. ~Kvng (talk) 22:09, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- My apologies. I missed the PROD. No problem with deletion. JTtheOG (talk) 22:13, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, I don't like to see WP:DRAFTIFY used unless someone intends to work on the article. If it's "not ready for mainspace", it's not going to magically improve in draft space so let's delete it or find an WP:ATD. ~Kvng (talk) 22:30, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

Skating PRODs
editHello, JTtheOG,
It seems like you are taking issue with this glut of PRODs on junior competition skaters. If you want to see other articles tagged as PRODs, you can review User talk:Awartha since this editor created many of the articles that were tagged for deletion and you can look over User:DumbBOT/ProdSummary for upcoming PRODs. I think over the past three weeks, we've probably deleted 50 or 60 of these articles.
The only editor who has raised concerns thus far is User:Kvng who is the only editor I know of who regularly reviews the PROD list to see if the proposed deletions are appropriate. I just thought I'd pass along this information. To be honest, I'm not well-versed on WP:NSKATE which is the primary argument for the deletion of all of these articles. Liz Read! Talk! 03:37, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz: Hi Liz, I appreciate you reaching out. I fear that I don't trust that this editor does any WP:BEFORE searches at all, so I've reverted all his PRODs from the past week. He predictably responded with this temper tantrum -- irresponsible to say the very least. Is there anything that can be done about that? There is no way the community can parse through sources for this many BLPs. JTtheOG (talk) 03:50, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for slowing this roll. I've posted elsewhere that I don't think we're equipped to responsibly review these proposals at the rate they have been arriving and I haven't been able summon any help on it so they've been rolling to deletion. There are at least a few of these currently working their way through AfD, and at this point it doesn't look to be easy to predict, just by looking at the article, which ones will be deleted. ~Kvng (talk) 13:39, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- For my part, I think it's irresponsible to just revert PRODs when it's apparent that you've not attempted to find sources yourself. In the case of the AfD I've just run into on one, the article was created over seventeen years ago -- the community plainly has HAD time to parse through sources for it, and demonstrably doesn't give a damn. Ravenswing 00:53, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
- The burden of finding sources in deletion proposals (both prod and AfD AFAIC) is on the proposer (WP:BEFORE). The fact that an article has not been significantly worked on in x years is not a valid reason to delete it (WP:DEL-REASON). ~Kvng (talk) 13:42, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
Re:Klub Kosova Hamburg moved to draftspace
editHello JTtheOG, How are you? I am new to wikipedia and am still getting used to how things work around here. I was wondering why this article was moved to draftspace. When I categorize it as a stub, isn't it okay to put it in mainspace. Also, is there anything wrong with the references I added that takes away this topic's notability? All the best,
MintyFresh201 (talk) 23:46, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- @MintyFresh201: Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm doing good and I hope that you are as well. In order to establish notability of people or organizations, you must demonstrate that there is significant coverage in multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject. You can read more about what this means at Wikipedia:Notability. In the meantime, I draftified the article to give you or others time to come up with references from independent sources that cover the subject (in this case the club) "directly and in detail." JTtheOG (talk) 23:57, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, I think I understand. However, how is this different than for example NKK SC, which has no references which is still in mainspace. MintyFresh201 (talk) 00:03, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Well yes, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. "Plenty of articles exist that probably should not. Equally, because articles must wait for someone who is interested in the subject to notice they are missing before they are created, a lot of articles do not exist that probably should. So just pointing out that an article on a similar subject exists does not prove that the article in question should also exist; it is quite possible that the other article should also be deleted but nobody has noticed it and listed it for deletion yet." You are welcome to nominate NKK SC for deletion, but I am highly doubtful that sources do not exist considering the club played in the top-flight Japan Soccer League for almost three decades. JTtheOG (talk) 00:33, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right, thanks for clarifying. MintyFresh201 (talk) 00:41, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Progress Chapter Two: The March Of Progress deletion nomination
editHello, thank you for reviewing the Progress Chapter Two: The March Of Progress article. However, I noticed some other user tagged it with a deletion nomination. Which decision has priority in this case? Your review or his tag? I suppose I'm not allowed to remove his tag until a potential discussion is over. The thing is that it might never occur and the article might get deleted senselessly. I just started the Progress Chapters project as they must be categorized, documented and sorted out. What can be done in order for the article to be kept on the mainspace? Thanks! JeyReydar97 (talk) 21:06, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- If other editors decide that it doesn't meet the notability guidelines, I'm afraid there is nothing that can be done to keep it in the mainspace. You could argue for the article to be draftified in order to not lose your work and allow you to find more sources to show notability. JTtheOG (talk) 21:09, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi JTtheOG! Thanks for reviewing my articles over the past few months. I have just been granted autopatrolled rights, so hopefully you will not come across my articles again while patrolling new pages. Here is a barnstar for your contributions in reviewing new film articles. Keep up the great work!! — Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 14:44, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Thank you!
editThank you for reviewing Noa Cochva so quickly. I created 2 pages a while ago via AFC and they're both still awaiting review, would you mind taking a look at them? Draft:Rivka Bayech is pretty straight forward. Then there's Draft:Logan_Levkoff that was originally created and deleted over 10 years ago or something like that so it's a bit more complicated. Aimee Aikenhead
editYou've nominated the aforementioned page I created for deletion but I don't understand why. It ha sources including BBC, Jersey Evening Post and ESPNcricinfo and links to several other pages on Wikipedia. I also don't understand how to fight my case. Shrug02 (talk) 22:11, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Shrug02: Hello there. Biographies of living people require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Both BBC articles have exactly one mention of her while the Evening Post seems to have three sentences covering her. I hope you can see how this is not enough in-depth coverage to warrant a stand-alone article. JTtheOG (talk) 23:01, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- There are dozens of pages I've seen with one source and one fact on like Joe Blogs went to the Olympics for Tunisia in 2016 etc. I appreciate this subject does not have huge amounts of coverage but it is more than those sort of articles plus the subject is likely to increase in notability bearing in mind how young she is and how much more international cricket she is likely to play. Shrug02 (talk) 23:05, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. "Plenty of articles exist that probably should not. Equally, because articles must wait for someone who is interested in the subject to notice they are missing before they are created, a lot of articles do not exist that probably should. So just pointing out that an article on a similar subject exists does not prove that the article in question should also exist; it is quite possible that the other article should also be deleted but nobody has noticed it and listed it for deletion yet." You are welcome to nominate those for deletion. If Aikenhead becomes notable in the future, you will have access to the article history in order to recreate the page. Until then, unless you can present better sources, it is up to the discretion of the discussion. JTtheOG (talk) 23:13, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- I have added further content and citations since you asked for its deletion. But I give up. I was trying to make a full set of pages for all the Jersey women's national cricket team that have done anything but I'll abandon it. Shrug02 (talk) 23:17, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

editI don't understand the message regarding this page. This has all gone from being a fun and, I thought, helpful activity to being some sort of online battle. I'm jacking it all in. I've created 60 plus pages and done 2000 plus edits all in good faith in the last three months but I don't need the hassle. Shrug02 (talk) 23:24, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Shrug02: The message is the same as for the last article. I am unable to find enough coverage that covers the subject directly and in-depth, as is required of all biographies. JTtheOG (talk) 23:33, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Ok. Delete it and all the rest of my project. Shrug02 (talk) 23:35, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- I do not have that ability. It is up for a community discussion. JTtheOG (talk) 23:36, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sure the discussion will go your way as you are the authority figure and I am a nobody. I just don't get it. I can't even find where to object to this deleting. You had no problems with my earlier Jersey Cricket articles but now there's an issue when I'm using the same sources. Shrug02 (talk) 23:41, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- I am no more an authority figure than you are. I am just a nobody on the internet. You are encouraged to contribute to the discussion here, as you already have. If you are referring to Sally Barton, she has clearly received multiple pieces of in-depth coverage, which are missing from both Aikenhead and Da Rocha's articles. JTtheOG (talk) 23:46, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- I am not referring to Sally Barton. I am referring to the half a dozen Jersey player articles that were reviewed and approved today. Shrug02 (talk) 23:48, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- I don't believe I was involved in reviewing those. JTtheOG (talk) 23:49, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- i have no idea who reviewed them but no doubt you intend to seek them out and have them deleted too. You have approved many of my previous articles over the last 3 months. Also I can't find the discussion page for Da Rocha Shrug02 (talk) 23:52, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Well, once again, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not an argument to keep this article. There is, as you have acknowledged, a serious lack of sourcing. The Da Rocha discussion can be found here. JTtheOG (talk) 23:56, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Derrick Anderson (Politician)
editHi there please don't delete it he's a lawyer and US Military Officer, thank you. Fredwebb17 (talk) 04:48, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Fredwebb17: Hi there. Thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, politicians need to be elected to at least a state-wide office to warrant their own Wikipedia page. Anderson has not yet been elected to office. A workaround is by meeting the general notability guidelines, but that requires significant in-depth coverage of the subject from multiple independent sources. The first two sources are a couple mentions and quotes (not in-depth) and the last two are from Georgetown and the military, both of which he has an affiliation with (not independent). Proposed deletion of Derrick Anderson (politician)
editHi there I'm sorry but please enlighten me I'm just a new editor but why is it not allowed? Joe Kent is also political candidate and former green Beret same as Anderson but he has one? Please tell me what can I do to fix it, Thank you. Fredwebb17 (talk) 17:23, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there, @Fredwebb17:. Welcome to Wikipedia. As I stated in my last reply to you, biographies must meet the general notability guidelines, which require significant in-depth coverage of the subject from multiple independent sources. Joe Kent is a fairly notable figure in national politics, and this is reflected in the fact that there is in fact significant in-depth coverage of him in multiple independent sources. The second one I clicked, this piece from Mother Jones, is probably 2 or 3 thousand words dedicated exclusively to Mr. Kent. Probably close to 2,000 words in this piece from The Seattle Times, also solely about him. Safe to say he meets the GNG. Anderson's article, on the other hand, has exactly three independent sources: this piece from InsideNoVa with a half-dozen sentences of coverage about him, this piece from CBS News which is mostly quotes from him, and this piece from Fox News about Trump endorsing him with another half-dozen sentences specifically about him. The coverage that has been shown of these two are not comparable at the moment.
- P.S. There is also a community consensus that Fox News is generally an unreliable source, particularly in the topic areas of politics and science (see WP:FOXNEWSPOLITICS). JTtheOG (talk) 19:11, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
