From Proto-Oceanic *taliŋa (ear) (compare with Maori taringa, Tahitian tariʻa), from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *taliŋa (compare with Malay telinga).[1][2] Doublet of daligana, see also relationship between Tongan talingelinga and talinga.
