Peer Review for LING 102

[edit]

In the “Sounds and Phonology” section, the sentence saying: “The velar nasal /ŋ/ is spelled |G| in the orthography.” needs to be elaborated as some readers do not know what orthography is. You can go into more detail or link it to an orthography page to help build a better understanding.

That same sentence also needs to be cited. I might be mistaken though because the next citations could be it’s cite source, but I am unsure.

In the “Comparison with other Polynesian…” section, the last sentence was kind of difficult to comprehend. Make the examples more clear; why is the plural prefix mau different than the other languages. Jameleeanneb (talk) 19:01, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

thank you! itʻs been fixed! 50.113.23.191 (talk) 04:53, 9 October 2018 (UTC)kmakuaka[reply]

My edits based on what you have so far: 1. In the history section the sentence ending with: "the contrast between written and spoken language varied historically by interpretation" please define 'interpretation' and elaborate on what exactly is being interpreted and some of the specific differences you refer to. 2. In the phonology section the sentence "Mangareva's phonology has been identified as a Marquesic derivative from Proto-Eastern Polynesian (PEP) and Proto-Central Eastern (PCE) "Doublets"are more common in Mangarevan language in comparison to any other Eastern Polynesian culture." You need to cite a source for this information. You also need to elaborate on 'Doublets' and what it means to your argument as this is not common knowledge. 3. Tip: add information on the language family. User:JoePalma (talk) 01:18 PM, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
