Two top suggestions if anyone is looking for some new articles to create. I may take these on myself if they remain unmade, but I have not seen them myself.

I have raised my concerns on the user's own [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Greg_Cesear?useskin=vector#Concern_over_many_of_this_user's_contributions. I do not want to be seen as gatekeeping, and believe that anything that complies with Wikipedia's policies and furthers its mission should be included, regardless of how large, popular, or well-heeled the subject of a contribution might be. It's this same concern with the overarching goals of Wikipedia that also drives my concern for it being manipulated and misused as a vehicle for any one person's personal glory or reputation.

Greetings!

Ideally, I would like to review edits such as this one with the guidance and input of others within the Theatre WikiProject before I take any unilateral corrective actions, to ensure my perspective is not in some way skewed or misaligned, and that I am not missing something. If there is no discussion on this in the coming days, I will simply follow my instincts, and allow for the usual remediation facilities to mitigate any potential missteps. I came across this article randomly and thought that the encyclopedia might be better served by an article on the historic theatre itself, with a small section on this non-profit (which probably wouldn't survive an AFD). == The Poor of New York v.s. The Streets of New York (play) ==

Hi all. I just came across The Poor of New York while researching on creating an article on the 1913 silent film The Streets of New York which is based on the play by Dion Boucicault. I noticed the play article did not even mention the alternative title of the work, "The Streets of New York", which in googling looks like it has been published under that title as well as performed under that title. I therefore created a redirect at The Streets of New York (play) and added it to the disambiguation page at The Streets of New York. I also created a The Poor of New York#Film adaptations section where you will notice all film adaptations have used the title "The Streets of New York". I also found an NYT review of a recent production title, The Streets of New York, which appears to be a musical adaptation. Ultimately, my question in all of this is, what article title should we use? It appears the play has been published under both titles. The Poor of New York is the original title, but all the adaptations use The Streets of New York and it looks like contemporary stagings use this title as well. I'm fine leaving it as is, but it's possible users might be more likely to search for the play under the title "The Streets of New York". Thoughts?4meter4 (talk) 18:51, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

I'm working on editing the Three Act Page
I've been researching for books and history of the Three Act structure so I can fix that page, but the thing is the history of it coincides almost one to one with the Five-act structure. I'm not sure how to proceed. Should the Five Act structure redirect to three act, or should it have a new title?

The contents I'd propose has things like the myths of the Three Act structure, the rise of structuralism with plot, as suggested by Barthes, and the figures that actually pout it together--which is not Aristotle, but more a misunderstanding of Aristotle. I do have sources (primary) for all of it, so it's not original research. But often Three act and Five act are almost lockstep with each other as saw, someone like Kenneth Row, who argued roughly for Five Act, shows up in Three Act arguements. And the person who coined "inciting incident" (as a phrase). Refers to three act, but then it shows up in the Five act structure as well.

So any advice about how to get this to work would really help.

There's also the fact it's kind of the Structuralists v. Modernists. (coined by Barthes as structuralist).--KimYunmi (talk) 15:12, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

Self-promotion & Wikipedia Abuse Among Theatrical Articles

I have identified a troubling series of article edits that bear questionable importance/relevance that are being added to many of the articles associated with popular theatrical productions. My concerns are not limited to anyone in particular, but certainly began with the user Greg_Cesear, who seems to have been prolific in their efforts to paper Wikipedia articles with edits related to their own personal endeavors and accomplishments[1], frequently with little or no discernible concern for historical significance to the articles featured topics, and that are clearly compromised by conflicts of interest.

I have raised my concerns on the user's own Talk page, and have since been struggling with the idea of unilaterally removing their most questionable edits.

In either case, my thanks to anyone whose taken the time to read this. ~ SilverXnoise (talk) 22:13, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
