Philip Hedley CBE (1938–2024) was a British theatre director.

Career

Born in Manchester in 1938, Hedley was artistic director of Theatre Royal Stratford East from 1979 to 2004. Prior to that, he had been assistant to Joan Littlewood and Gerry Raffles at Stratford East.[1]

Before his move to London, he ran the Lincoln Theatre Royal and the Midlands Arts Theatre Company for a number of years.[2]

Hedley died in January 2024.[1]
