Revision as of 09:44, 4 February 2024
Potassium has been listed as one of the Natural sciences good articles under the good article criteria. If you can improve it further, please do so. If it no longer meets these criteria, you can reassess it.
Potassium is part of the Alkali metals series, a good topic. This is identified as among the best series of articles produced by the Wikipedia community. If you can update or improve it, please do so.

changeover to WP Elements
Article changed over to Wikipedia:WikiProject Elements format by User:maveric149. Elementbox converted 11:57, 1 July 2005 by Femto (previous revision was that of 23:29, 26 June 2005).
Information Sources
Some of the text in this entry was rewritten from Los Alamos National Laboratory - Potassium. Additional text was taken directly from USGS Periodic Table - Potassium. Other information was obtained from the sources listed on the main page but was reformatted and converted into SI units.
Production of Metal
The article states that "thermal methods" are used to prepare potassium. Is this referring to the reduction of molten potassium chloride with sodium vapor? If so, it should be more specific.
Correction of numerical values and addition of a reference
It would be useful to correct some of the numerical values to the most recent published paper on potassium. This paper proposes moreover a large number of the most accurate equations of state currently available and should be quoted: [1]

Nutritional value of milk and chocolate
The article currently says that milk and chocolate contains potassium. Milk contains calcium, which iin some languages is mistakenly confused with kalium (potassium). Chocolate is a product that might contain cocoa or might not. I think it is misleading to mention chocolate as having nutritious value due to potassium. 37.250.202.198 (talk) 09:38, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
Contradiction in Etymology
The etymology section currently states:
- The English and French-speaking countries adopted Davy and Gay-Lussac/Thénard's name Potassium, whereas the Germanic countries adopted Gilbert/Klaproth's name Kalium.[16]
English is, of course, a Germanic language. I can't edit the article to note the contradiction, because it is "protected to prevent [misspelled slur]." 173.73.0.102 (talk) 04:03, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
Put the old word ferrum back
Revert the latest message please. It deletes the good version. 2001:EE0:4BC2:E410:8C60:E4FE:CDA3:8239 (talk) 14:56, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

I think this article should be not protected.
I conclude this as mentioned in title. 2001:EE0:4BC3:440:210F:B0D8:CCFD:2918 (talk) 14:09, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- I disagree. Experience tells that unprotected an article on a school topic is very risky, especially in the middle of the school year. Materialscientist (talk) 12:12, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- If you cannot satisfy my fulfillment, would any of you mind changing or modifying the source code for a little words from from Latin kalium to from Latin kalium to ensure its consistency, especially in an encyclopedia? 2405:4802:64A8:D090:71E5:E055:6008:4DEC (talk) 05:36, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
