Hello Dm20476. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Infinigate Group, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Dm20476. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Dm20476|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:16, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DoubleGrazing,
I'm not compensated for this edits. I was part of Infinigate in the past and I felt that a short history of Infinigate in Wikipedia is worthwhile for the world community.
I understand your concerns that Wikipedia should be not used as a marketing platform. However, the text of Infinigate doesn’t seem to me an extensive marketing text. At least not more than for example the text about Microsoft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft
Can you please let me know which part of the text you feel is not appropriate?
Thanks a lot. Dm20476 (talk) 12:38, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks. Even if you're not currently employed, or otherwise compensated, by this business, you still should declare a general conflict of interest (COI) as an ex-employee (or whatever being "part of Infinigate" means, exactly). I will post a separate message below with info and advice on COI.
Articles on businesses should be composed by summarising what independent and reliable secondary sources have said about them. This draft cites no such source, which means this is essentially the business, directly or indirectly, telling the world about itself, which is pretty much the definition of promotion; see WP:YESPROMO.
Not only that, but the draft content and tone is quite promotional throughout, esp. the 'Story' section (which makes up the bulk of the draft). Expressions like "The two founders recognized the potential of the Internet. Their goal was to help companies take full advantage of the possibilities of the digital age." and "had a vision of how they could meet the growing need for Internet solutions in the emerging digital era. Their shared passion for innovation and technology drove them to create Internet2000" is just pure marketing blurb which has no place in an encyclopaedia. HTH, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:03, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi DoubleGrazing,
Thanks for the hint. I made some changes on the text based on your suggestions. Can you please check if the text fits better.
Thanks a lot. Dm20476 (talk) 13:24, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Dm20476. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:03, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
