Wylliesburg is a small town named for Hugh Wyllie a Scotsman who ran a store in the community. The town was formed at the intersection of King's Road and Cargill's Road. Located at the southeastern end of Charlotte County, it is one of the older towns in the county. A post office was established in 1800. Before the post office came into existence the town was called Wyllies but after the post office came along the name ws changed to Wylliesburg. The town had its bicentennial celebration in September of 2000. |
