ChromaGun is a single player, first-person shooter and puzzle game developed by German Indie studio Pixel Maniacs.[1][2] It was released on 13 September 2015 for iOS and on 16 February 2016 for Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux on Steam and the Mac AppStore. It was also released on Sony's PlayStation 4 on 22 August 2017 and Microsoft's Xbox One on 23 August 2017.[3] An early version of ChromaGun supported virtual reality headsets,[4][5] and could be played using the Oculus Rift headset.[6] ChromaGun is built on top of the Unity Game Engine. The game received mixed to positive reviews from critics.
Gameplay
ChromaGun is a puzzle game revolving around using colours. The player uses the ChromaGun, a paint-shooting weapon, to colorize walls and floating spherical robots, called WorkerDroids. These WorkerDroids are attracted to walls of the same color and will move towards them.
The player's objective is to solve puzzles by cleverly rearranging WorkerDroids by changing their colours, and guide them to door-opening triggers, switches or electrified tiles. The player can shoot red, blue or yellow paint using the ChromaGun. These colours can be mixed together on walls and droids to create green, purple and orange, until a final brown colour is reached.
The game consists of many short puzzle levels to solve, however a single mistake can render a puzzle unsolvable meaning the level has to be restarted. In general there is only one solution to each level. There are 26 Levels offering a total game play time of 4–5 hours.[7]
Reception
The game scored 3.5/5 in a critic review on Twinfinte.,[8] 7.9/10 on Metacritic.[9] and 9.5/10 on Bagofgames critical review.[10]
