The 2018 Bandy World Championship will be held in Russia and China between bandy playing nations mens teams and will be the 38th Bandy World Championship since the start in 1957. Division A will be played in the southeastern Russian city of Khabarovsk and Division B in Harbin, capital of the northeastern Chinese province Heilongjiang.[1][2][3]
Participating teams
Division A
Eight nations are qualified to participate in Division A, where the games will be played in Khabarovsk, Russia. Canada would have made its return to Division A, having won Division B in 2017, but has declined to participate and will be replaced by Hungary in the division.[4] The other teams in Division A are directly qualified through their results in the same division last year. Belarus was relegated to Division B for this year, having finishing last in Division A in 2017.
Division B
The Division B games will be played in Harbin, China. Beside Belarus, the same teams as in 2017 are expected to appear again and Latvia will likely make a comeback, but interest has also been noted from a few other countries, among them England[5] (or perhaps Great Britain, since the England Bandy Federation now has changed names to Great Britain Bandy Federation) and Slovakia.[6] A final plan listing the teams is still to be published, so the distributing in pools below, which is based on the results in 2017, is an assumption which may still be altered.
