Regdalin (Arabic: رقدالين) is a medium sized city situated on the north western coast of Libya, 10 km from the seashore and 120 km west from the capital city of Tripoli. Its total population is estimated to exceed more than 30,000.
City of Rikdalin (Green Valley)
The borders of the city are less than 10 km (6.2 miles) from Zuwara, 10 km north to the the Mediterranean Sea, and 10 km northwest to Zliten. The farms of Zuwara provide the city with a steady supply of olives, almonds, and grapes. The town of Alasah is about 35 km (22 miles) south from Rikdalin.
It is said that the name Rikdalin is originally derived from the Amazigh language and was called teredaline, which means hyenas, because in the past the area was free and heavily populated by predators.
The city is characterized by an agricultural economy based on rainfed agriculture of crops such as olives, almonds and some vineyards for grapes and figs in the surrounding areas, especially in the south and western regions.
