Mamapas Lewu is a ritual performed by adherents of the Kaharingan religion in Central Kalimantan. It is said to be done to purify nature and the environment (petak danum) and everything within from conflict, dangers, disease outbreaks (rutas pali) etc.[1] Mamapas Lewu is also an embodiment of the order of life among the Dayak people in interacting within their communities wherein the ritual reflects the life of their people in unity and intergration (the rumah betang philosophy).[1] This ceremony also serves to strengthen bonds among members of the community as well as embody harmony among adherents of the faith.[2]
