January 8

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 8, 2024.

FBC Olomouc

Delete: It's remainder after deleting the article. There's no link anywhere pointing to the redirect. Except for the actual redirect target: Extraliga žen ve florbale, where the link to redirect had to be removed (to avoid self-redirect). But that creates an inconsistency in the list of teams, where now FBS Olomouc is the only team without a link, contrary to other read-linked teams without articles. The New Orc Times

This was nominated for speedy deletion as an attack page. I can't tell whether this is a sufficiently notable meme to be included in the target article or at Orc (slang) but I don't think this should exist as an unexplained redirect documenting an attack meme. —Kusma (talk) 16:53, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This nomination should also include New Orc Times, without the The (a redirect nominated for speedy deletion, contested, then deleted without discussion).  —Michael Z. 17:32, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. This is just a silly redirect that is meant for a mispronunciation, but I find it highly unlikely that a reader will have that bad English to spell "York" as "Orc". The 🏎 Corvette 🏍 ZR1(The Garage) 17:35, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Redirect to Orc (slang), where this meme is covered based on reliable sources.  —Michael Z. 19:05, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lonnie Kris Wellington

This redirect should be deleted because it makes no sense and is incorrect. Kris's full name in Deltarune is Kris Dreemurr. 75.188.222.163 (talk) 12:58, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Interestingly, there is an actual person with said name which comes up when you search up Kris Wellington. I’m not sure if this page was created out of bad faith though, the edits related to it likely were. Said editor who made the page has a good history and likely made the page out of mistake, we don’t know why though. 2A00:A040:1A3:B38B:40C2:B07F:4BCD:236B (talk) 14:18, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

None of the entries on the dab page have any affinity for CamelCase. * Pppery * it has begun... 05:32, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Arrêt

Too ambiguous foreign language redirect. Propose soft redirect to Wiktionary or deletion. WP:NOTDICTIONARY Awesome Aasim 04:20, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Local pride

Just doesn't make sense to me as being the same topic. -- Beland (talk) 03:17, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alternatively could be retargeted to Cultural exception or even dabified. Respublik (talk) 18:16, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think local pride is more within a country (e.g. your city versus others) than the transnational concept of cultural exception, and is less legal. It's the warm glow when your town receives an award, when your home team excels, when your neighbourhood boasts some superlative, or when your area is famously appreciated for something. Besides community building an alternative redirect is to sense of community. Mebden (talk) 15:53, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Local community, which is a much closer fit. I don't think even being "within a country" is enough to count as "local" unless your country is tiny. That said, given the modern connotation of "pride", perhaps one could also be thinking about specifically the intersection of local issues and LGBTQ+ pride, which we don't seem to currently have an article on? (Also, according to a google search I just did, there's also apparently a non-notable company called "Local Pride Heating Oil" in New Hampshire.) Duckmather (talk) 04:10, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, local community would serve at least as well: it covers the 'local' aspect handily, even though the sense of community article is closer to the 'pride' aspect. I've edited both targets just now to ensure that local community has a link to sense of community and vice versa. Mebden (talk) 11:51, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Government of Switzerland

The Federal Council is just the executive branch of the Swiss government. Retarget to Politics of Switzerland lacking a WP:BCA. QueenofHearts 02:34, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Spondylous

Not mentioned in the target article, making the connection between the redirect and the target article unclear. However, there are 3 instances of words that begin with the prefix "spondy-" in the article, but they do not make it very clear why this specific redirect would target the current target. Spondylus exists, but it seems so unrelated to the current target that retargeting there as a misspelling seems incorrect/unhelpful. Steel1943 (talk) 19:42, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Soft redirect. wikt:spondylous defines it as Relating to spondyles; vertebral; wikt:spondyle reads (archaic, anatomy) A joint of the backbone; a vertebra.. Vertebral currently exists as a redirect to the same target, but is being discussed at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2023 December 29#Vertebral. I think soft redirecting to Wiktionary is my first choice, but my close second preference is to mark it as a {{R avoided double redirect}} of vertebral and point it wherever the consensus target of that redirect is (my preference for that is Vertebra). Thryduulf (talk) 21:58, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Note that the Vertebral RfD closed as retarget to Vertebra a day back. Jay 💬 20:12, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Zee Estates, California

Mangoe (talk) 00:41, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

delete the above redirects to the enclosing county were created as fallout of the failed group nomination Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Indian Lakes Estates, California. All of them are NN subdivisions not mentioned in the corresponding county articles, nor should they be. I do wish that this sort of misleading redirect were not the "solution" to "save" these placename articles (all dumped in from GNIS, of course: see WP:GNIS if you don't already know why this was a bad thing), since the reader isn't going to find out about the thing, but they do get created nonetheless, so here we are.
