Not the franchise of the Washington Lions

Cincinnati had an AHL franchise lined up before the Lions folded. The city of Cincinnati needed to have their venue, the Cincinnati Gardens, ready before the league would launch their franchise. The Lions franchise ended, while Cincinnati's inactive expansion franchise was activated.
