Fred Dewilde
Fred Dewilde (birth 1966[1] - died May 5, 2024[2]) was a French cartoonist and survivor of the Bataclan terrorist attack in Paris. He tragically took his own life, nine years after the events of November 13, 2015.
Survivor of the Bataclan Attack
Attending a concert at the Bataclan on November 13, 2015, Fred Deville survived the coordinated terrorist attack carried out by Islamist militants in Paris. The attack was one of the deadliest events in recent French history, claiming hundreds of lives[2].
Despite physically escaping the massacre at the Bataclan, where he spent two hours amidst the bodies and the dying, the trauma eventually caught up with Deville. According to his loved ones, the "poison" of the trauma ultimately overwhelmed him[2].
Death
Tragically, Fred Deville took his own life on May 5, 2024. His death shocked and saddened many friends, fans, and members of the artistic community in France[2].
