Juan Bautista Valdez Cambiaso (1956-1962) was a notable director of meteorology in the Dominican Republic. Prior to his appointment in 1956, Valdez Cambiaso served as a member of the Civil Aeronautics Commission. During his tenure, he oversaw the inauguration of the Cabo Encaño station and the equipping of several interior stations with telegraphy equipment. However, his efforts were hampered by the political instability prevalent in the final years of the Trujillo era. Valdez Cambiaso was removed from his position in 1962. He is a descendant of Juan Bautista Cambiaso, the founder of the Dominican Navy.
