Charles Ridgeway

The Rt Rev Charles John Ridgeway, [[Doctor of Divinity|DD] (14 July 1841 – 28 February 1927) was the Bishop of Chichester [1]from 1908[2]to 1919. Born into an ecclesiastical family[3], he was educated at St Paul’s and Trinity College, Cambridge[4]and ordained in 1866. After a Cuaracy at Christ Church, Tunbridge Wells [5]he was Vicar of North Malvern, Rector of Buckhurst Hill, and Rural Dean of Paddington before his elevation to the Episcopate[6]. After his death his wife presented his Pectoral Cross to the Cathedral Library[7] and commissioned a memorial to him which can be seen in the nave [8].
