Cylk Cozart (born February 1st), is an American actor who has appeared in over 30 films and 20 television shows.
Biography
Early life
Cozart was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. His father is of African ancestry and his mother is Native American.[citation needed] Prior to becoming an actor, Cozart was an established model working in Miami, FL. In his high school years, he was a talented football and basketball player. He attended King College in Bristol, Tenn. He almost made a professional career out of basketball, but he suffered a foot injury in the NBA Summer Pro League after graduating from college. A demonstration of his skill can be seen in the film White Men Can't Jump, which also starred actors Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.
Career
His most recent roles are Det. Jimmy Mulvey opposite Bruce Willis in 16 Blocks and Steven Speilberg's, "Eagle Eye". He is set to star in the Robert DiNero produced 20% Fiction. Also, Cozart will direct his first feature film in 2010, based on the True Story, about the High School girls basketball team from Nebraska, who won 103 games without a loss and Eight State Championships, from 1991 through 2001, called The Sandy Creek Girls .
Cozart will co-star and produce Sweetwater, the story of Sweetwater Cliffton, the first African American to sign a contract with the NBA.[citation needed]
Cozart is president and co-chairman of the production company P.O.V. Planet, which created and produced "Spirit of Life" for the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia. "Spirit of Life" earned a Videographer Award, Aurora Award, NY Film Festival Bronze Award, and Telly Award.[citation needed] Cozart's charity organization is called Purses And Pockets With A Purpose,[citation needed] which focuses on Abused Women with children, based out of Chicago.
