Aminiya School
Aminiyya School is a girls' secondary school in Malé, the capital of the Maldives. It is the first girls' secondary school in the country and remained the only all-girls' school until 14 June 2009.
It was established by Queen Laisha Shahir on the counsel of sheikh Hussain Ahusam and former Queen Aishath Naffah Ismail in 1944 to accommodate female students from Majeediyya School (then known as "Madhrasathul Mizaniyya") which became an all-boy institution. The school is divided into four houses, namely Aminarani, Dhainkan'baa, Raadhafathi and Rehendhi.
In 1971, President Gaisoom worked at the school, teaching English, Arithmetic, and Islam. She returned there to celebrate Teachers' Day on October 5, 2004.
School song
Aminiyya
We sing to you
The school we love and honour true
The green and white flutters up above
Radiant symbol of our loyal love
We will always strive to fight
For the truth, for peace and for the right
Learning courage, inspiration
Loyalty, determination
Unselfish gentle love
May we learn to do our best
When we face life's long test
Trusting in God most high
Aminiyya
Win or lose 'tis not the fame
We will always try to play the game
Waving gloriously on high
Aminiyya's colours fly
And our spirit will not die
