Ultramicroscopy is a peer-reviewed scientific journal in the field of electron microscopy.

Ultramicroscopy also refers to the use of the ultramicroscope (unrelated to electron microscopy), invented by Chemistry Nobel Prize winner Zsigmondy together with Siedentopf in 1925. Based on the idea of this ultramicroscope, a whole new microscopy field emerged: the (Laser) Light Sheet based Fluorescence Mircoscopy (LSFM) field. Amongst others, LSFM covers OPFOS, HROPFOS, SPIM, DSLM, TSLIM microscopy methods. Dodt introduced a new LSFM method which he again called Ultramicroscopy, in honor of Zsigmondy.
