The Pre-Maori civilisation conspiracy theory

Many New Zealanders falsely believe the Pre-Maori civilisation conspiracy theory who discovered New Zealand before Polynesians this has been proven incorrect by historian Michael King "Despite a plethora of amateur theories about Melanesian,South American,Egyptian,Phoenician and Celtic colonisation of New Zealand, there is not a shred of evidence that the first human settlers were anything other than Polynesian".[1] and has been dismissed by the New Zealand Archaeological association as sadly there is often a racist element in New Zealand originated theories. Resentment often surfaces by non-Maori at settlement of Waitangi Tribunal claims, with the view that history as now revealed demonstrates these claims are unjustified. It often appears minimally as doubting the capacity of mere Polynesians to have carried out some feat. .[2]
