Vasant Narasimhan is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Novartis, having previously served as the Global Head of Drug Development and Chief Medical Officer. Vasant received his bachelor's degree in biological sciences from University of Chicago and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his master's degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government.[1] On September 5, 2017, he was named the successor of Joseph Jimenez as CEO of Novartis.[2]
He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine.
Personal life
Vasant is married to Srishti Gupta who met at Harvard while organizing an Asian cultural festival. Vasant's mother is a former nuclear engineer for Public Service Electric and Gas and his father was a researcher at Hoeganaes Corporation.[3]
