WikiCup newsletter correction

There was an error in the WikiCup 2020 March newsletter; United States L293D should not have been included in the list of top ten scorers in Round 1 (they led the list last year), instead, United States Dunkleosteus77 should have been included, having garnered 334 points from five good articles on animals, living or extinct, and various reviews. A tag has been placed on Category:EuroBasket 2021 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Infoboxes

Hello IndexAccount. Regarding this edit summary, there is no rule that infoboxes should only show major parties. {{Infobox legislative election}} is designed (and meant) to show all parties that won seats in an election. The question of which infobox to use on articles ({{Infobox election}} or {{Infobox legislative election}}) is generally about which is the more effective summary. Infobox election is not good at showing multiple parties, so is better for countries with two/three party systems (like the US). Infobox legislative election is better when there are multiple parties, usually countries with proportional election systems. On the Croatian example, Infobox legislative election is able to show the reader all 14 parties/groups that won seats in slightly less space than Infobox election shows only the three main ones. I think the latter has to be considered a more effective summary of the election result.

Infobox election is still used on most articles as Infobox legislative election was only created relatively recently as a solution to the problem of Infobox election not being an effective summary for multi-party systems, and there are plenty of places that probably should be changed, but haven't been. Notice

The article Serbia national under-20 football team results has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Can't see how this would pass WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File permission problem with File:Zabranjeno Pusenje BG Beerfest 18-08-2017.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Zabranjeno Pusenje BG Beerfest 18-08-2017.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. EuroBasket 2022 squads

I corrected clubs to which players are currently signed for Serbia national team and you reverted that saying: "The clubs are the ones for which they last played before the tournament, not those for which they signed. Per consensus." What consensus are you talking about when in all other teams players clubs are those which are in this moment, not previous clubs, except for Serbia. Also in the second sentence of this article says:"Age and club as of the start of the tournament, 1 September 2022." Finally, on the official FIBA website, under rosters, players' clubs are the current one. Correct this or at least stop correcting others who are doing this right. 176.104.104.102 (talk) 21:55, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is the Wikipedia:WikiProject Basketball, gathering all editors who are fans of the game. In 2016, there was a discussion on "current team" matters. Consensus has been reached that the rooster should list last team played before the start of the tournament. Discussions could be found here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Basketball/Archive 10. Also, you should avoid arguments based on WP:WHATABOUT. Cheers. -- IndexAccount (talk) 14:56, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply][reply]
I understand what you are saying and I don't have any problems with that, but it seems you don't understand what I'm saying. :) I checked all national team squads and found that in all cases listed clubs ARE their CURRENT ones, except for Serbia. So consensus you have made is applied only for Serbia ?! I think you should gather again because somebody of you are not doing it in the way of consensus you all agreed on. And I especially don't know why you only keep correcting Serbia but not all the other teams, because they are all wrong judging by your "consensus" ??? 176.104.104.102 (talk) 22:15, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
