Kamarkattu / Kamarkat / Kamarcut / Kalkona is a traditional South Indian candy made out of roasted coconut flakes slowly cooked with jaggery syrup.

It is a nostalgic sweet treat that is famous in South India and fondly remembered by the kids of 70s, 80s and early 90s. As school kids, they would have indulged in this delicacy from the vendors selling them on sidewalks. Easily available in rural towns and villages but is a bit uncommon in major cities. There a few new brands who have introduced this coconut delight in modern packaging and portion suitable for it to be sold from modern outlets and ecommerce sales channels.
