23:1423:14, 10 March 2024 diff hist +194‎ Mitragyna speciosa ‎ Edited the psychosis mention to accurately reflect what is said in the cited study mentioning it among the hallucinogens. whoever put this there misunderstood the somewhat confusing wording and didnt realize that the study they cited states that kratom alkaloids block the 2a receptors which is the opposite of many hallucinogens and the same as modern antipsychotic medications. the same page also says that it acts as an agonist at alpha 2 adrenergic receptors and that antagonists are stimulating. There is plenty of evidence to the contrary in studies on the thailand population who have used it for generations as well as studies showing that at least one of its active compounds acts as an antagonist at the serotonin 2a receptor much like both typical and atypical antipsychotics. The newer (atypical) neuroleptics tend to have a higher affinity for these receptors than for dopamine. Tag: Reverted
