Webb & Gaunt
[edit]Does anyone know why Webb & Gaunt did not receive any Championship points for their race placings? GTHO (talk) 00:26, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Pretty sure they weren't registerred competitors or in franchised cars. Can't recall the exact wording of the reason, but essentially they were not 'official' competitors. Guess they didn't want noted capable blow-ins taking points away from drivers racing the whole series. --Falcadore (talk) 04:29, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- The old Carrera Cup series had very specific cars. The 996s were imported in a single batch by Porsche Cars Australia and then sold by them through Cup Car Australia to the competitors as franchised entries and much the same happenned with the 997s. The cars were also restricted in such a way that those specific cars could only compete in the Carrera Cup series and were not freed. However a couple of 997 Cups were imported independantly later on from former Middle East and Asian series and were not bound to specific series competition like the PCA cars were. It was mooted that these cars would have been eligible to run in the Aus GT Championship, but it never really progressed much beyond discussion when the series collapsed during the 08/09 off season. --Falcadore (talk) 04:51, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
